This place opened a couple of months ago. We kept walking past - its tiny, more a take away look, but no, there are tables too. So we went last night. The only 2 in there and 1 take away order. This street is not a busy place, so I hope the word gets around and that they survive
Its the best Indian food I have had in France - ok, I know that might not be saying much compared to similar restos in England but nevertheless...
We were welcomed in, an older chap and a younger guy looked after us; they were from north east India, near the Ganges...and we talked...cricket! The former had played in Brighton and at the club in Meudon; with the younger, we talked about our favourite players...it was fun, friendly, relaxed
Ok, the food. We had a free popadom, then butter chicken, chicken Madras, aloo gobi, a naan and a paratha. We were asked how spicy...we would definitely now choose a level up at least...The breads were superb - by far the best ever and I can think of many places in the UK that wouldn't even be close.
The aloo gobi was also excellent, maybe a little overcooked but fine. The 2 main dishes were pretty good. I thought the sauces were a little gloopy for my Madras and a little tomato-y, the butter chicken - but again both good
My only real gripe is that all the meat was thigh, no breast
This meal was accompanied by 50cl carafe of Merlot...for 7.50€...well, that was a steal
In the background we had a tv showing 1960 Bollywood song clips (we couldn't stop looking); around the walls were balloons and other bits and pieces
Total cost 60€ including tip
We will return...though there is another Indian, the other side of L-P - they told us they had been there for 25 years...its well out of the way for us...but we might check that out too soon and make a comparison read more
