She brought down my A1C from a 12.? down to 6.6......really down to 6.2,; according to my Freestyle Libre3. All in all I can't say enough good things about Dr. Bassiri! I don't know how good of a doctor Bassiri actually is because her staff has refused to set up an initial appointment for my brother. The direct quote was that he "is not a fit" for the doctor, despite a family history of thyroid disease and him having all the symptoms himself. I don't know what "not a fit" means, but to me it implies either racism or sexism. We got him an appointment with my sister's endocrinologist without that office even hesitating. Sad that we had to get him in with a doctor 300 miles from home because this office refuses to help people out. read more

On my fist appointment I went in and discussed everything I knew about my current health situation with Dr. Bassiri. I was self referred, so she really had to start from day one with me based on whatever I could tell her as a non-medical professional. Being a nervous chatty girl that I am, I talked for probably 15 minutes straight... and she typed it all down! I was amazed, I've never had a doctor do this before. She was and is so nice to me and understanding of all my concerns and questions. I would recommend anyone go to her with their thyroid problems. She's still very connected with UCSF (where she got her degree) and will give you her honest opinions if you ask for them. She spends a long time during her appointments being personal with you, and if you call her and leave a message at her office she will PERSONALLY call you back and discuss issues with you over the phone. Both myself and my co-worker, Julie (who referred me) go to Dr. Basseri and we love her. She is very comfortable to talk to, actually listens to everything you have to say and then treats you accordingly. She takes extensive notes on my visits and is thoroughly informed about my health issues when I arrive for my appointments. She inquires about what is going on in your personal life so that she can factor that in when analyzing the health issues. Many doctors do not even ask you or care. I am diabetic and have been trying to get it under control for years. Unfortunately my GP has been less than helpful. I self referred to see Dr. Bassiri and I am so glad. When I called to see if she would accept me as a patient the receptionist was so helpful. Yes, I had to wait for two months to get a new patient appointment but with as long as I had already waited I didn't care. When I went to the office I saw that it is in a small, yet comfortable and professional looking, suite. There was one patient waiting and I was early so after I checked in I sat down and settled in to wait for my turn. I was hoping that I would see the doctor on time but no such luck. That is the only issue I have with the medical profession. But I am old so I am used to it now. Dr. Bassiri took a considerable amount of time looking over my labwork, discussing my condition and giving me her advice on what we should do to treat it. What I had been trying to do with my GP for years she was able to do in under an hour. My GP kept trying to get me to take meds that I couldn't afford or couldn't tolerate because of the side effects. Dr. Bassiri prescribed a medication that only costs me $40 a month! For diabetes medication, at least injectibles, that is a miracle. I have only started it so time will tell how it will work for me. But with her experience and reputation I have full trust that I was given the best option for me. If you are looking for an endocrinologist Dr. Bassiri gets my highest recommendation. read more

Just moved from the east coast and have seen Dr. Bassiri twice. She is fantastic and I would recommend her to anyone. She listened completely and took copious notes. Repeated calls go unreturned and they wouldn't set up an initial visit without all my previous records even though I'm not sure she is the one I want to go with. Dr. Bassiri helped me tremendously a few years ago when I found I had growths on my thyroid. Like one of the reviews below says, she listens to every single word during your sessions and types in everything into your file. I recently skipped my annual appointment and, out of the blue, she mentioned that fact to a friend of mine that is also her patient. I thought that was so wonderful, that she remembered to ask my friend about me and my health. Needless to say, I've since called and will go in (like a good patient) and have my checkup. She is truly a terrific physician and has a wonderful bedside manner. You'll be happy you've chosen her to meet your health needs. read more

UPDATE: Neither my Primary nor I have EVER heard back from Dr. Bassiri's office to accept me as a New Patient! We were never told by her office initially that they were not taking any new patients; they took my information when I called (after my Dr.'s referral got no response) and said "We'll get back to you". NO ONE ever got back to either my Primary or me. RUDE - we're talking HEALTH and MEDICINE, not New Shoes!! I've heard and read that she is a very competent and compassionate Specialist; apparently her 'gatekeepers' in the front office choose to keep her from potential new patients who require her high level of skill and experience. TOO BAD. I was so looking forward to meeting Dr. Bassiri and being treated by her for my recently discovered serious deficiency. I wonder if she is aware of the new patients she is missing out on? There aren't many Endocrinologists on the Peninsula. read more

She is proactive, caring, competent, and takes time to listen and get to the bottom of what is going on with her patients. She sees how all the pieces of your health profile fit together and works with you to make informed decisions and work on positive outcomes. If I could replace all my doctors with Dr. B, I would. Being diagnosed with medullary thyroid cancer was not news I expected to hear from my doctor. At the moment the prognosis was delivered, my doctor's skillset, confidence, demeanor and even bedside manner became vital qualities I would begin meticulously scrutinizing. Cliché as it may be, the saying "life is too short" never appeared more true than it did in the days leading up to my surgery. Dr. Bassiri was able to calm my nerves while communicating each phase of the procedure, treatment, and recovery until I had a clear understanding of both what to expect, as well as any potential risks. She recruited the support of experienced doctors and at no point did I ever feel neglected or "handed-off". Even Dr. Bassiri's assistant, Satarah, patiently guided me through any administrative documents that required completion, and lab locations I would need to visit. Satarah's attention-to-detail and benevolent willingness to answer my questions served as an exclamation point to the already stellar service I had received. In essence, Dr. Bassiri and her team have allowed me the time to write this review by saving my life. As a retired military soldier, Yelp comments (and the like) are rather foreign to me and therefore I've never written one. However, given the magnitude of this situation and the appreciation I have for all that Dr. Bassiri has done, taking a few minutes to share my experience with others is beyond justified. my first appt. was 2 wks ago and i was very impressed. she is very thorough and i never once felt rushed. she took time to explain the results of the ultrasound and even repeated it in the office and explained her findings to me. also reviewed the lab results i brought in and grafted the findings on her computer and showed me how she came to her diagnosis. she was great and we discussed options, the reasons she wanted more labs done as well as a bone density scan and how some of my other abnormal labs may be contributed to my thyroid problems. i was impressed by her investigative skills and how open minded she was to my questions and concerns. her office is busy and it did take 2 months to get an appt. with her but i'm very happy to now be her patient. i highly recommend her. deb h., carmel, ca read more
