Half price books Roseville is located a half mile from the mall and I have ALWAYS had a good encounter there - hence finally breaking down to write a review. The staff has always been lovely. Yes, you're never going to make a tremendous amount of money on your used books, but if you're Kon Mari'ing (that's the verb now - right ?) your bookshelves. It's a easy way to let go of what doesn't bring you joy (bye bye sharepoint 2010 book) and make a few bucks to go next door to Dunn Brothers and buy a cup of coffee. I am not a huge book nerd , so I can't tell you much more about selection - but I'll gladly pass up B&N for Half Price any day. There is parking but Fairview (the road it is on) is pretty busy - so be careful with cross traffic during rush hours!

This store is neat and organized. There are new and used items to choose from here. I recently cleaned out my bookcase and had a bunch of Time Life hard cover books for home repair and do-it-yourself books. I was recently a personnel cut at work due to Covid so I thought that I could make a few bucks trading them in so others could love them like i did. They were in great shape, some hardly opened along with a bunch of cook books and the famous Top Secret Recipes books. During Covid it is hard to get an appointment to have them look at your book and they limit you to 2 medium sized boxes. I usually donate but I thought these books had some value. They only start to take appointments when they open on Friday morning until the next week's schedule is full, which I am told takes a couple hours to fill up. It didn't take them long to look through my books and let me know what they could give me. The 2 medium sized boxes with hard cover books in mint condition on home improvement and cook books were only worth a whopping $2! Not really worth the trip. We did enjoy Portillo's nearby for lunch though! Books are a dying breed. You would be better at donating them to save the hassle of trying to get through the phone to schedule a time for them to look at your books. The people were nice and helpful but each quote stared with "It isn't much but I can offer..." If i knew that, I would have just donated locally. I drove up to Roseville because I could get through the phone at the Apple Valley location.

I come here every spring to stock up for summer reading. They have pretty much anything you're looking for, even very popular books.

Boom! Mind blown!! This place is so good it's almost overwhelming the first time ya go! There are…read morejust SO many amazing things in here! I can't believe they have been open for so many years and I have never heard of them! Every year I search for an idea of what kind of ornament I'd like to make for my business team leaders. A friend had thrown out the idea of maybe a leather ornament and told me about this store. As crafty as I am, I have always been really intimidated to attempt leather due to my tingly, numb hands. I assumed it took a lot of hand strength to tool leather...and all those intricate details!! Where would I even start??!! The staff here is SO freakin amazing! Above and beyond in customer service! I went in know notta clue about anything with working with leather or even what tools I would need to start with. I put my big girl boots on and humbly let the 1st employee I could find know that I needed a TON of help! That I knew NOTHING and was determined to leave with supplies for a project. I think the gals name was Anna...maybe. She was so amazing! She patiently took me around the store to explain the differences between veggie tanned leathers and the other ones, leather stains, paints, all the decorative conches etc. After narrowing down which direction I wanted to go (precut circles that where perfect for ornaments- that were unstained, veggie tanned and perfect thickness for stamping) she proceeded to a big work table where she showed me exactly how to stamp leather, demo'd some different leather stains, and even helped me come up with a design that was simple enough that I didn't feel overwhelmed going home with to do! There was also a gentleman (dang I'm terrible at remembering name!) that was working at the table that also happened to be part of the staff. He showed me additional tips, and demonstrated even more stamps for me when I asked to see what they look like. He mentioned that every Wednesday and Saturday he is there to help people work on their projects for free! 3 1/2 hours later... I finally left with a bag full of supplies needed for my project, a small granite piece that they gave me so I don't bang up my kitchen table and the confidence to tool my 1st ever leather project. The 2nd visit: I wanted to pick up a leather stain and a few paints that caught my eye the 1st time AND needed some ideas on how to make the edges look finished and prettier. Completely different staff than the 1st day but equally as helpful and demonstrated a few different routes to go ok that as well as shared some awesome tips and favorite tools. Annnnd happily demo'd more stamps and leather stains that I was curious about. I'm just so blown away with how awesome they are at showing what different things look like!! I'm definitely planning on returning soon and checking out their classes. It's just a really amazing place!

I recommend this store to all level skilled leather craftsmen/beginners. Not everyday a store this successful shows you why they've become this successful wether it's franchise or not! Definitely my new supplier!

After the depressing visit to the rather empty Marshalls store, I decided to stop in to Barnes & Nobles, the other open tenant. I love Barnes & Nobles because it always cheer me up with all the colorful books and a Starbucks! But not here. I walked into to the coffee shop and I was rather disappointed as all the pastries and coffee cakes were lacking... I decided to just order iced tea. Then I found it annoying that the barista being preoccupied with talking on the walkie to security about a shoplifter than making my iced tea...so...as soon as I got my iced tea in hand, I left the immediately to get out of the uncomfortable space.

Staff are to themselves, a great place to sit and read because no one will bother you but not a great place to ask questions. The upkeep of the location needs to be better.
