This location is less busy than my normal half price books, but the people there are nice. The used book prices are solid, especially as I'm building my library and their online store makes it so you can find basically anything you are looking for. This location is amazing! It's probably the largest that I've been to in the Twin Cities area, and holy moly do they have a lot of books! I know what you're thinking--Julia, it's a big book store, of COURSE it has books--but hear me out. Half Price Books have more than just books. You can often find board and video games, music, gifts, and stationery. (They are truly amazing establishments.) Once you visit a few in your area, you'll figure out which ones to visit when you need what. This location has a truly awe-inspiring selection of books. They have all of the usual suspects in terms of genre, but somehow, they seem to have exactly what I was looking for, including the book that I wasn't deliberately looking for. Good all around. When I have some extra time I've been known to wander bookstores. I stopped into 1/2 price and was surprised that it had much more than books. There were games, records, dvd, collectible toys and more at this location. Lots of variety to explore. When it came to books they are organized by genre and then author. If you're looking for one that fits into multiple genres, you might have to dig a little deeper or ask for help. In addition to all of the books on the shelves, they do a good job of displaying them, and also carry some new releases that you can get at a slightly discounted price. Overall, I was impressed with the amount of inventory they had, and think that anyone could easily find a book or two to go home with from this location. They do also purchased used books here and you can drop them off at the counter for them to assess and then make you an offer. In general, the offers that I heard seem to be pretty low unless you have new releases, that they know they can turn quickly. But, they need to make money too. It's a business! There is plenty of parking available and it's also right next-door to a Panera. So, grab yourself a book and enjoy it over a cup of coffee right next-door. read more

Nicely organized book (and more) store that will buy used books. Lots of music, new & used books, movies, cards, and literary paraphernalia. I believe this a franchised book chain that is locally owned. Don't forget to check out the "Clearance" section of the store (most new & used books are $1-$3 here). Do expect to spend some time here browsing the shelves. Less is More the 2018 tour continues with moving old fiction, non-fiction and textbooks on to new homes. There was an opportunity to donate them, but then I saw that Half-Price Books (HPB) buys used books. Half Price Books feel local but are a national chain based in Dallas, Texas. Their slogan is "Your Favorite Local Bookstore Everywhere" They do have a local "feel," and I was comfortable wandering around the store. When we stopped in, the book purchasing section was up toward the front, and the employees were approachable and helpful. We had one large box, and one reusable plastic tote full of books and the counter staff took a dolly and rolled out to get them out of the car. I love it when customer service is part of a business model. The selection was varied and had local flavor too. There was a decent cooking section; some locked up tarot cards, good collection of travel books, lots and lots of romance and mystery novels and so much more. It was fun to wander around while the buyer was evaluating books. The gaming section included some "vintage" selection that I recognized, but if you like those games, there are plenty there for you. This is a fun place to browse with a casual vibe. You'll find a large selection if you want to add more to your home. If you're looking to get rich from selling books, this is not the place, but if you're going to send them off to new homes and have some pocket money, it should work fine for you. read more

I was looking to pick up some books for an international flight but sometimes buying books can be hard on the wallet. Especially when you only read them once and then want something new! So I decided to head to Half price books and I'm glad I did. The layout of the store is very nice with each section having signs hanging over to help direct your search. As you walk through don't forget to go to the back as they have magazines on the wall and a clearance section. I love to read books about traveling and they had a great section for that! What surprised me is that they also have sudoku puzzles and word finds, perfect for a road trip or plane ride! I highly recommend checking this place out the next time you need a book. Plus caribou coffee is next store with a patio so you could grab a book and some coffee and enjoy the summer weather! read more

I was asked to wait for 30 mins to have my books appraised just for the woman to offer me $1 saying they were damaged or out dated but that only being 2 books out of the 25. I believe she stereotyped me being a young black man with a bi-racial son that looks older then what he is so i believe i was judged negatively while rolling her eye's at us happily offering $1. As a Kindle convert I had forgotten how fun it is to browse a bookstore! Being able to see the colorful covers and read samples pages is something you can't do with ebooks. Plus that book smell....ah! (Um, this store kinda actually smelled kinda bad but let's pretend it's just used book smell). It was a little difficult finding what I was looking for (a certain cookbook), but worked out ok. I like these stores because they are nicer and have better selection than smaller "used bookstores" - which are often junk books. These are typically more up to date. I didn't look around too much but I will probably be back soon. read more

I love this particular one because it's very roomy. Also you tend to find rarities, oddities, and books you've been looking for, for years. They just seem to turn up here. And this is just mysteries. Really good parking available. I only come out here for the big sale in July that lasts all week. They are surrounded by good restaurants including a Keys. I always grab a cart and the aisles are wide enough for browsing. Some good finds in the dollar rack too. read more

Half Price Books is a great store to buy books, but think twice about selling them any. Two hundred newer coffee table books in near mint condition will get you about $13.00, and leave you feeling like you just got ripped off. It's definitely not worth it. Next time I'm getting rid of a van load of beautiful books, I will donate them. Goodwill has a good customer base of book shoppers and if I had donated my books to them, they would have made $200 to $400, and I would feel a whole lot better. read more

This store is a little hidden secret! The prices are great and the kids enjoy going to just look! If your looking for something they can usually find it and ship it to your house! I love, love, love this store. As the only other reviewer mentioned, it is hard to find a particular book you're looking for (although I believe they keep some sort of inventory online now). However, if you're willing to spend a bit of time searching, chances are you'll find what you're looking for. I'd recommend just coming and browsing, as you never know what you'll find. The pricing on media items (everything from CDs, to DVDs, to BluRays, to even LPs) is incredible, and definitely worth the trip alone. read more

To be fair, if you are shopping this place is great. Great prices, tons of selection. If you are bringing in books/media to sell, no so much. Not sure why, but two staff there felt the need to lecture me twice about the specific constraints and timing arrangements for selling. The thing is, people coming in with books to sell are bringing in the very thing that keeps you employed (i.e. your product) so I just do not understand the disdain towards customers. Will not be returning just based on the gnarly attitude given to me at the Coon Rapids location. read more

I brought in over 50 hardback books of popular authors all in excellent condition and was offered $6 total for all of the books (about 12 cents a book). I understand that they need to earn a profit but found this to be insulting. While waiting for my offer, I found several of these exact books on their current shelves in similar or lower conditions priced at $20+. While browsing, I did not find any prices that I would consider a bargain especially for used. On the plus side, they did get through my stack of books and make an offer in about 15 minutes. read more

Love this place! They sometimes have kids story time on Sunday afternoons and each kid gets a free book. We've purchased books there including graphic novels. They do buy books back for credit towards buying other books. Neat little book store. read more

I love shopping here! It's a great way to find books and save money and help with the environment. While a paperback book can be in several spots, at least all the catogories are in author alpha order. If you are looking for a hardcover, you can ask them if they have it. If they don't and it's at a different site, they will mail it to your site - works great. Staff is very friendly. I agree, "well worth checking out". read more
