Just what I wanted! At an amazing price!

I was looking for a couple of books today, watercolor tutorial & some readings from Thich Nhat Hanh. I found a large area of watercolor books & found this little gem. Also, I found a book that I really need to read right now. Both were at a great price point! Love Half Price Books as they always have a great selection & are always affordable. Service was spot on! Make sure to check this place out before hitting some of the larger chains.

    There's a kpop section!

This is a great used book store with a wide selection! It's not as large as some other locations, but they have friendly customer service. I learned that you can call or contact anyone at HPB to look for a book in the area or have it shipped to you. Books are fairly well organized and there's a good clearance section as well.

Recently I've discovered this location near North Star and now make it part of my visit to the area. The place is well organized and has a great variety if books. I also came across and bought 2 bluetooth keyboards for $3 that retail for $50 +.

This is my go-to location when I'm in town. Two decades in Texas means I've racked up quite the quantity of literature, and I regularly stop in with a few boxes to sell back as I pare down my collection. HPB is quick, staff is friendly, and their selection is massive- this isn't their largest location in terms of square feet, but I do feel it's the best-stocked in town. Gifts, records, music, DVD, and other media towards the front, with a bonus rear entrance for those looking to sell*. Book sections are neatly divided by fiction and nonfiction with subgenres. On my most recent visit, they were running a 20% off sale for the entire store during Memorial Day. Join their mailing list for regular discount coupons. NOTE: Despite being a used book store, they do have deals with some publishers to offer slightly discounted (20% max) new release books (usually the hardback edition only, some are even signed). These are located near the entrance. EDIT: about selling back your books here. If you expect face value or even half of MSRP, you're delusional. For that, you'll have to list your books yourself on Amazon used and ship them out. Roll back your expectations, people. Also note that they will take everything you bring them, but may donate or "recycle" unsellable materials (typically due to condition).

There's a small selection of books with a focus on local writers (and LGBTQIA). I think I saw a room for tarot readings, too? They had a local writer present signing his new book, too. Herbs and other trinkets are for sale, and teas, as well. I really wish they had a larger selection, because it seemed more tea shop and less book store, but they're still several months old, so you never know... The cafe specializes mainly in tea and a selection of baked goods, and bread so fresh you can smell it when you walk in. I ordered a Neiman Marcus Cake (a custard cake) and a Cupid's Kiss (a fizzy delight made of sprite, strawberry, vanilla cold foam, and sprinkles). Staff is SUPER nice, one of the guys has a collection of DC figurines displayed, and a graphic novel collection. They also had a small tarot and oracle card collection. I almost bought one. Next time, perhaps. I hope to see more books the next time I visit. If you give them a heads up ahead of time, they'll even reserve a space for your book club. How neat is that? Overall, excellent vibes, excellent drinks.

They also have some comfy couches. When I was there, there was a Bookclub having a meeting. The store is quiet enough to be able to conduct a Bookclub meeting. I was also able to buy fresh sourdough bread while I was there. Prices are reasonable for all the books. They also sell stickers and other book theme related items. I enjoyed a cup of tea while I was there. Their teapot sets are so adorable. This is definitely a place that I want to frequent often. Parking is available on site, but shared with the other businesses.

As with the other CD Exchanges, you're almost guaranteed to find whatever it is you're looking for and so much more. As a fan of martial arts movies, I really enjoy this location as their selection has consistently been better and varied than some of the other locations'. The trade off is that their game selection isn't as impressive. That's not to say that it isn't good, there is in fact a lot to look through, I've just found more hidden gems at other locations. Though I typically skip over the front part if the store during my visits, it is worth mentioning that there is a TON of music to go through and an impressive amount of memorabilia such as action figures and Funko Pop!s, posters, bags and shirts, and a lot more. Everything is fairly priced and there have been instances where I've paid less than what I would have elsewhere or online. If you're a movie buff looking for a quiet place to pass the time, you absolutely have to visit the Movie Exchange.

It is located in a strip mall off Fredericksburg, and it won't be found unless ones looking for it, which I was. It is not a very big place, but it does have a lot of knickknacks, including an impressive collection of stickers, bookmarks, and vinyl records, to name a few. It actually is a pretty neat place. The books are used and for the most part they're very reasonably priced. They do not have an inventory of the books, so you do have to look through shelves, if looking for a particular title. And their staff is only one person at the cashier. Which is to say that you can browse to your heart's content, and discover some major reads. They also had quite a few boxes of books that were under one dollar or $.50. This is one of those places that I intend to return to, because of pricing and to support small businesses. I truly recommend visiting this place. It makes for a fun visit.

The employee never talked to me the whole time my friend, child and I were in there. Needless to say, I wouldn't be coming back.
