You are always greeted warmly when you enter the bank and the staff have a lot more time to help you with any queries or problems you may have. I also like the new technology enabling you to pay money in coins, cash or cheque straight into the electronic machines instead of waiting in queues for a long time. I also had an overdraft issue a while back in which money was unfairly taken from my account and I went into the branch and found them to be very reasonable and helpful. There are also various cashpoints located outside the branch and the interior has a very modernised and patische feel that will always make you feel welcome.

I've used Loughborough's branch and Liverpool Lord Street, and found myself bewildered and terrified by the note counting machines - here, you can just deposit an envelope of cash or cheques, and it'll be counted and added to your account from half past three in the afternoon. Unfortunately there are no coin deposit machines, so you need to process your coins at a window. Despite its general quietness, you might find that you're kept waiting for a while - it's irritated me enough to just leave. Once you have a member of staff on hand, however, the service is really good. I got Internet Banking set up a couple of months ago, and their help was stellar.

They have a self service till and telephone so you can deposit and withdraw money and call customer services about your account. I have found the service to be a little bit slow at times and the staff haven't always been that friendly. You can open accounts here and do your day to day banking. Its not as up to date as your bigger branches but more than sufficient for basic needs.

Just recently they've had a major face lift and it looks really nice. Gone are the bullet proof glass service counters and the feeling of high security all about you - when you reach into your coat for a pen and worry that they'll be thinking you're getting out your gun. Now it's all open plan and relaxed. They even had a non uniform day last week, bless them. They have some 'consultation' areas where they can sit you down and work out ways they can sign you up to part with more of your money. It is housed in a lovely old building which I remember being Pickerings stationary when I was at school.
