We have been with Halifax Vet Center since we moved to Port Orange in 1991. Dr. Bartos helped us so many times. Our first cat had obsessive locking issues, and frequent trips before she passed. They were always there for us. Then we had 2 abyssinian sisters and one died suddenly at 4 years old. My husband rushed her over there but it was too late. They gave us a room to grieve and were so supportive. Our Roxy (in the picture) had frequent uti's but no matter what day it was we could take her in and treat her. Now Dr. Abrue is there full time and he is wonderful. The whole staff is wonderful. We are lucky to have them so close to home. read more

Very impressed by this place. They fit me in for an appointment that worked with my schedule. They are not my usual vet as we were away from home. Everyone was friendly and incredibly professional from the reception desk to the techs to the vet, to the office manager. Everywhere we saw was spotlessly clean. My dog was happy throughout the exam and the fees were reasonable. The diagnosis and treatment plan were given without upsell which was fabulous (my regular vet constantly tries to upsell) If they were closer they would definitely be my vet. read more

The folks at Halifax Vet Center are wonderful and kind. My parents Chihuahua was bitten in the mouth and they worked him in quickly and keep us up to date all day on what was going on. The Dr was super nice and explained everything well and the price was reasonable. Everyone we dealt with was great the entire day. They provided recommendations for surgeons and called ahead to let them know we would be calling. They also checked with the pup's regular vet at home to see if he had any reactions to meds in the past. The whole situation has been stressful but we wouldn't hesitate to use this office again. read more

Not happy AT all. First of all we waited a ridiculous amount of time. SECOND we saw the vet for a SOLID 2 MINUTES so she could tell us she didn't think acupuncture was the right way to go and give us a business card for another veterinarian office AND we were STILL charged for a check up. $69 and an insulting 10% off. I'm unbelievably unhappy. A HUGE waste of MY money and time. And obviously not a waste of your time since I had to basically pay to sit in the waiting room. Absolutely RIDICULOUS. read more

My cat died because of this clinic. After vomiting on/off for a month we brought her in for the night - blood tests, stool and urine samples. Clearly said VOMITING was the issue. For some reason they kept thinking we were saying URINE? After spending $540 and they flushed out her system, they said nothing was wrong and she was good to go. Gave us some pills for a UTI and we once again reminded them it was VOMITING. The next night, after returning home from my grandmother dying at hospice, we came home to my cat wailing in pain. Took her to the 24 hour vet where she was having heart palpitations. From DR BARTOW detoxing her and giving her way too many fluids she had fluid encasing her heart and her lungs filled. She essentially drowned and died after hours of a slow, painful death. Had the staff just listened to what we said was wrong rather then going in the complete opposite direction our Whiskers could've been saved. An EKG could've saved her. We've been going to this vet for 20 years, never again and will inform everyone we know to NEVER go here. This clinic was the reason for the death of my cat and really let us down. read more

I wonder why someone would blame the Vet for their cat dying when they waited a month before bringing the poor thing in? Now for my review: Very busy clinic where the staff are very kind and friendly. They are accommodating with urgent appointments and quick med refills. Dr Bartos is an excellent clinician. My dog developed Congestive Heart Failure and Pulmonary Edema at a young age, due to a defective heart valve. The treatment and meds that she recommended have returned him to a happy, playful, active pup! She is realistic to clients financial constraints and has offered ways to save money where appropriate and not detrimental to my beloved dogs health. Dr. Bartos researched all the ingredients in a supplement I wanted to give my dog, on her own time, and called me at home with recommendations. Very Kind! It's a very pleasant, bright, clean environment. I took off one star because I wouldn't use the Boarding and Grooming there. The procedure may have changed since I evaluated it 4 years ago. However, AT THAT TIME, I took a tour of the facilities and noted that the Groomer used a box fan to dry the dogs off after bathing instead of warm air. As for Boarding, on Sundays, someone came in to toilet the dogs in the morning and at night only. I won't leave my Pup crated that long no matter how strong his bladder is, especially when he doesn't need crating at home. read more

My wife and I took our dog to this vet when we first adopted him. We thought he was having stomach problems. The vet we had, I don't remember her name was horrible. She couldn't figure anything out. She kept giving us food from her stock of medicinal foods and he just kept getting nauseous and throwing up. On top of that, the groomer that was working there injured the dog twice. Once she cut his toenail too close, the next time, she snipped his tail, claiming he moved and couldn't control him. When we complained, the owner sent us a letter discharging him as a patient and told us to go elswhere. read more

I cannot complain at all about the actual veterinary care my pets received from this practice however, the front office staff are terribly rude. I had an incorrect bill and when I questioned the amount a member of their office staff literally called me a liar when I questioned the estimate she had given me earlier that day versus what they were trying to charge me. This whole incident happened at the front desk in front of several other customers and there was never an apology. Turns out they had entered some of the charges twice. I have to wonder how many times this had happened before and I didn't catch it. I found another wonderful veterinary practice with much better customer service. I would not recommend this vet practice as dealing with their front office staff is not worth the hassle. read more
