I chose combination lo mein, and my wife had sweet and sour chicken. I asked for level 3 spice on the lo mein, and we each got an egg roll. The egg roll was very unique. It appeared that a standard egg roll was tempura fried. This made the shell way too thick and the diameter much too large to just pick up and eat. I also found the inside somewhat dry. The chicken pieces in the sweet and sour were also a little dry. All the veggies in the lo mein were perfect, and the beef was pretty good. The shrimp was tasty and perfectly cooked. However, the chicken and the pork in the lo mein were also pretty dry. The flavor of the sauce was great, and the level 3 was crazy spicy for a 3, so I am very happy I played it safe and did not order a 6 like I had planned. The biggest letdown of the lo mein was how thin the sauce was. A few more minutes in the wok with a bit more cornstarch and it would have been so much better. Perhaps the biggest disappointment of the meal came at the end. A few culinary misses are much easier to overlook than a fortune cookie that just has an advertisement for a VPN inside. It really spoiled a fun little moment my wife and I could have had opening them together. Overall, I think we will try them again because there really was some good potential in that kitchen.

The ribs tasted okay, but they had considerably more fat and less meat than I prefer. The fries were similarly unremarkable--perfectly edible, but nothing I'd go back for. What really bothered me was the cleanliness. The bathroom was dirty. A friend of mine who owns several restaurants once told me that he considers the condition of a restaurant's bathroom a useful clue to how seriously management takes cleanliness in areas customers can't see. Fair or not, that thought was difficult to shake after seeing this one. More concerning: a few hours after our shared lunch, both my wife and I became sick. Obviously, I can't establish that the restaurant caused it, and I'm not claiming that it did. But given that we ate the same meal and both developed symptoms afterward, it's something I think is worth mentioning.
