The real star though is their Liberty fabrics, both from their most recent collections and past years (sold off at a marked down rate). Definitely one to check out if you like sewing.

Now that I have rediscovered this amazing haberdashery shop it will save me loads of trips into town. I was impressed with the diamante-studded zips on my last visit. I am sure I will come up with an idea to use them soon. It all looks a bit messy, but I think there is method to the madness. Best of all, this is a real local shop for local people :-) and it is best not to be in a hurry and get chatting. Almost every purchase involves a trip to the shop next door for change. Love it!

That I did, was…read morethanks to the intense haggling exchange I unwittingly found myself minutes after stepping into the shop. Possibly because I genuinely wasn't there to buy, I managed to get some fabric at 25% off the price originally stated and indeed touted at some of the neighbouring fabric shops. I was happy with the fabric and the price paid. I can therefore declare myself a fan of this place.

She cut me a generous metre and the price was low so I was very pleased. The HUGE disadvantage: they keep a dog - INSIDE the shop. I don't mind dogs, but I am incredibly annoyed that I am now picking black dog hairs from my fabric. Many people have dog allergies, so it is not only unprofessional but inconsiderate to allow the cloths to be contaminated with dog hair. I am not sure whether I will use the Cloth Shop again due to this dog hair issue, which is a real shame as it is local and the staff were knowledgeable and helpful.

There are antique welsh, alpaca and gorgeous baby blankets alongside indian silk shawls and lambswool, cashmere and merino wool throws. Their Hungarian grain/flour sacks - in lovely chunky textured linen - and sets of antique linen tea towels always catch my eye.

I came here the other day looking for fabric for an outfit that my friend is going to make me and we got some great gold and silver fabric which was £3 a meter and some black and white cotton for which was only £1 a meter. It would be impossible to get it upstairs internally... and even upholsters near by said they wouldn't take it apart for us. I found sofaassist.com on a Google Search and contacted Frank immediately. I sent over some pics of the sofa and windows from both properties along with measurements. Frank responded to me with a quote and even gave us a plan B quote if the sofa indeed had to be taken apart. We were quite excited to know we'd have our sofa in our new flat! On the day Frank and his assistant completed everything within an hour... just amazing! Frank is so friendly and professional. So easy to work with! Would definitely recommend getting in touch if you need to get a sofa into your flat!

All of my belongings were delivered from the US but the tiny door frame of the living room proved too much for the moving crew.
