Dr KEITH is different ; his office is very plain no large screen TVs, no exotic plants, there are a few magazines So you don't know what to expect, but when you meet him you can tell right away from his demeanor that he is a caring gentleman who knows his profession. He must've sensed my fears because after a few moments I was comfortable and and before I knew it he had pulled out one of my teeth. That's right pulled out one of my teeth I didn't hit the ceiling the world didn't end in fact I made an appointment to have two more taken out. Which I came back three weeks later and had done. This place and receptionist SUCKS!! Three days before appointment that was made in February! They call and say that they do not have my insurance information! Mind you I couldn't even make the appointment without that information! They said they don't have it! I said I could not even make the appointment with out the insurance. She said I should have a copy! What it was sent to them! The WORST people to deal with! I don't know how the Doctor is because I never got to see him! I have had a history of bad teeth since a car accident in 1989, and everything went downhill from there. I procrastinated this procedure of removing 10 teeth and going to dentures for a LONG time. I came to Yelp to assess this doctor whom I don't know, and the reviews were 50/50 split, and the 2 sides disagreed evenly. Let me add a balance to the staff and Keith's side. As with any professional, it is annoying to question things they do every day. I went through it as a carpet installer. I don't need staff to pretend to be my friend or waste time answering questions I don't really need to know; they are there to help the surgeon, not me, and they always return calls. Everyone is as friendly as would be expected. As for the procedure, it was amazingly fast and pain-free, still, 2 days later. Of all the things I've been through, this by far was the best experience in a dentist chair I've ever had, and I have a level of PTSD against dental work. This time, as he grabbed a tool and motioned as if to begin, I asked, "Is this on?" - Yes - "I don't feel anything..." Then I said, "Oh, there it is... THERE it is, OK", and relaxed into the chair. I had full memory and quite a show as well. Every time he removed a tooth, any light source and reflection in the room, including his round forehead light with a black dot in the center, changed into vertical beams of light stretching upward and down in perfect straight light-bars. I saw the Dr just this morning, I had to have a tooth surgically removed as it was broken below the gum line. Dr hallaian has done several extractions and other procedures over the years. Today walking into the office I was gretted nicely. Took a seat, 5 minutes later walked into the exam room. He walked in, smiled, we had a few words and he numbed me up, extraction and bone graft took about 20-25 minutes. He spoke with me, we even laughed a little. This doctor is rude arrogant and not interested in helping. Hes condiscending and socially hes awkward. Hes just a jerk. More interested in billing than takeing care of who is in his chair. I wouldnt reccomend him or this office. They move you through like your cattle. His nursing staff is trained in the same way get your paperwork filled out before you get here. They did not file medicaid papers correctly and instead of refiling correctly they decided to put a senior on a fixed income in for collection. They know I can't pay but they have decided to hurt me anyway. The dentist who referred me to them has used this same medicaid card before my visit the the Zoo and after my visit to the Zoo. With so many good dentists around why use Hallaian. Follow up. 3 years and they are still sending bills for $20. Seems to me they spend hundreds of dollars trying to collect $20 from a senior citizen. The time and postage of billing for 3 years probably adds up to more than the lousy 20 bucks they are intent to hurt my credit rating over. NOR EVEN WORTH 1 half a point! So bad after a 2 month wait and 2 referrals, several(meaning more than 5 or more) phone calls and pre-medication and pre- operative prep this dentist said that he is "uncomfortable " doing my surgery without ever walking out from behind in his office. The 2 women had probably 3rd grade educations and said with my history that I need to be hospitalized to pull a tooth due to an extra root. Funny that after seeing 2 dentists and talking on the phone he's ok pulling the tooth but not paying for an anesthesiologist he wants Medicaid money and if you are desperate he says he will do just a local if not go to syineybrook and wait another 2 months! So I called a lawyer to find out my rights and called the ny state dental licensing board to have him flagged and find out about his medical malpractice insurance info and how many desperate folks they turn a blind eye too without seeing and taking their money for consults and for up front pay without ever doing "Oral Surgery" but simply overcharging for a pulled standard tooth that any dentist could do. I called requesting to speak to the surgeon and said if he was busy it could wait but i was in a lot of pain after a round of antibiotics and wanted to see if there was a cheaper way to do this because the insurance approval was taking too long. I have been in pain for 2 weeks and my oral surgery was urgent. They never sent the health insurance request for coverage and lied to me for a week saying they sent it an expedited it. I needed a wisdom tooth extracted and Dr. Hallaian's office was one of the few oral surgeons that took my insurance. His office staff are amazing. I had to switch appointments around a few times and they were always very accommodating to me. His practice seems busy, but I didnt have to wait too long past my appointment time to see him. I just had my tooth pulled this morning and out of all my wisdom teeth, this was by far the least painful....like barely felt anything kind of less painful. The doctor and the dental assistant were great. Both took time to explain everything to me and make sure I was comfortable every step of the way. If I could rate less than one star on this man, I would. I saw him last weekend at Total Dental Care, where he works on patients on Saturdays. I came in after nearly a decade of not visiting an oral surgeon, after I had a previous tramatic experience. I told the doctor and his staff right away how terrified I was. I already had tears streaming down my face, knowing I was facing two teeth extractions. I have an abscess on my gums above one of the teeth. After visiting this office, I still habe an infection. I was promised antibiotics, but they were not called in. This is probably because the dentist threatened me. I will admit that I was very scared and squeamish when it came to the novacaine injections but I managed to get one side (yhe infected side) numb without any serious issue. I asked him to put the novacaine in slowly, but instead, and without warning, he stuck the roof of my mouth on the other side and I yelled. I did move slightly, and started telling him to not put the needle in again. Well then he proceeded to push my seat up and tell me that I "was not ready" and that, he "didnt want to have to get angry" with me. I shook my head and asked if he could just pull the one that was already numb because I have an infection. He ignored me. He spoke over me to an office assistant, insisting that I was "not ready" and to reschedule me. During this time, I was hysterical crying because Im terrified to have this infection any longer, but I was just ushered out. Now this man has just contributed to the post dramatic stress I have towards dentists and dental procedures. Im not understanding what would happen "if he got angry," but if he is saying this to a patient, Im afraid to know. I have never been treated this way by a medical care professional. Dr. Keith Hallaian was an absolute ANIMAL.. this is my traumatic experiance story, and i know its long but please read every bit because everyone NEEDS to be warned.. people on here complain about the staff but their incompatance and lack of professionalism was the very least of my problems. I went into the chair nervous, i needed 9 teeth in the back removed because of TMJ and a severe ongoing grinding problem that ground down my teeth to the point that they were not fixable and causing me alot of pain. I expressed my anxiety to dr H and two of the nurses, whom i read on the reviews made other patients relaxed and comfortable. They undermined my feelings and blew them off saying no more than "you're fine" I have a very bad reaction to the epinephrine in the novicane, so i require an alternitive numbing agent that does not work as well. Good thing i reminded them, even though it says it clearly in my charts that i have a potentially life threatening reaction to it to epinephrine, because they had it prepared on the table to give it to me anyway. They started the procedure by giving me IV sedation which was supposed to put me in a "twilight like sleep" amd although it did calm me down a bit and make me tired, it did not put me to sleep whatsoever and i was able to express that. Upon obtaiming that knowledge they did hey did not administer any more. Dr H started by giving me the shots of numbing agents in my mouth, he did not apply the topical numbing gel before hand so it hurt pretty bad, mainly because he was (amd i can not stress enough) SO rough, jabbing it carelessly in my mouth. I felt like he was almost taking his anger out on me, like i was being maliciously stabbed. Believe when i tell you that there was an anger inside of this man whenever i started showing discomfort. He waited no more than 30 seconds before he started pulling the first tooth out, i felt EVERYTHING. I started screaming telling him to stop and give me more of the numbing agent stating that i was feeling everything he was doing .. he insisted i was just feeling pressure, and told me to stop making noise. The pain only stopped briefly when i felt the tooth come out, i even felt the nerve being tugged on it was like it was attached to a strimg amd once it snapped the pain on that area stopped... he then imidiatly started on another tooth, i continued to feel everything once again..he was SO SO rough. At this point im scared dispite the fact that there were two female nurses in the room because they were acting like this was a normal thing. At this point im trying to deal with the pain silently because i became afraid of him, but i did not have it in me to hide that amoumt of pain and again, shortly started screaming for him to stop.. he persisted. his response for the second tooth wa "stop talking Renee! you're only feeling pressure you are not feeling pain" i could not understand why he wouldn't take a break to check me or apply more of the numbimg agent, or IV sedation, or acknowledge my wjat i was telling him at all.. my legs kept moving all over because i was in such immense pain and could not controll them, he yelled stop flailing and let me do my job! He then needed to move my head, and instead of turning it in a normal mannor, he slammed it twards the other side quickly with what seemed anger twards me.. It is 7 hours later, my neck still hurts and i have a severe headach and bruise on my tempmle. At this point i was sure i was deliberately being abused and i wasnt sure why... i started to say "I'm sorry for screaming" in hopes that his anger would calm down.. he replied with derogatory words such as "YUP" And "YEAH OK" and continued this same pattern untill he removed 5 teeth in total and told me he was done with me and he couldn't finish the other teeth if i was going to act like that... he slammed the tool tray to the back of the room and then stormed out of the room without saying another word to me. As soon as he left i started hysterically crying and the nurse seemed to be covering for him by minimizing the way he had acted during the procedure saying why are you crying? its all over now you'll be fine.. i told them to get my friend who had drove me in and just broke down in her arms.. this was such a traumatic experiamce for me.. i stronly advise everyone to not use Dr. Hallaian as your oral surgeon. He is truly a very angry man. I do not know how he is still in practice. and please most portantly do not bring your children into his office, please do not let a child go through what i went through. This was an entirely traumatic experience for me, and i am not a sensitive person, i gave birth to two children, with my first being a 27 hour labor, compmetely natural with no medications and i wpuld honestly rather go through that than go through another hour of this complete abuse. I feel violated and belittled, i jave not stopped crying all day, i am in so much pain physically, but more so emotionally. read more

I went to Dr. Hallaian about 2 years ago for a tooth extraction. He was covered in my dental plan (which is very limiting). The office is very high volume, but the staff is very professional and manages to keep things running smoothly. Dr. Hallaian is very personable and took his time to explain all my options to me, he also explained covered and uncovered expenses (impressive for a Doctor to know). I decided to have a dental implant (instead of a bridge) for the extracted tooth. Implants were not covered by my plan and Dr. Hallaian offered it at a price that was very competitive. He had built a lot of trust with me so I decided to have him do the implant and he did a great job. If you go - don't be fooled by the clientele (he must take all insurance?), he and his staff are top flight professionals. Having an implant is a bit of a process, so I was a bit of a frequent patient for a while. I have since recommended him to friends, family and co-workers, and those that went to see him were equally impressed. I hope never to need an oral surgeon again, but if I do I know where to go. I was referred to this oral surgeon office from my general dentist. What a mistake I left more the 20 messages since September 4, 2020 to this day hasn't gotten a call back it's November. My GD say go there they do walk ins n their phones are tricky meaning they don't answer them at All no matter what time u call. My husband needed oral surgery I had to bring the referral in person which they later on lost n didn't see what the big deal was as they stated to my face, why I can't just have my GD office just fax another over which their office was closed that day.. My 13 year old daughter woke up in plan n her face swollen was able to get an emergency appointment at my general dentist but they don't pull wisdom teeth unless patient is 17. So they referred us to this oral surgery that took my insurance, I called n called n called left message after message no reply. So I bring her the office staff was very rude n nasty refused to see her as she stood there crying. I'm begging n pleading for them to help my daughter with one staff who says left me she your referral give me your number n we will call u. I say I've been call for months for my husband now there Witt my child. Another staff comes over n ask if there is a problem n tries closing the door in my face. The told me it would take 30 minutes for them to even look for my husbands referral which they NEVER EVEN ASKED HIS NAME N SAID THEY DIDN'T have it no big deal. Hadn't been here in years, and so didn't know what to expect but they comforted me when I was in pain. Doc even said sorry for having to do it. Thank you for being fast and efficient I was warned about the pressure, that it might take a while for the tooth to come out, or it might come out right away. They even kept an eye on me after because I was so obviously relieved he was afraid I was going to get light headed. I am the loved one and advocate of an individual with special needs and I am posting this review not only to congratulate Dr Hallaian for selecting office workers who were able to effectively communicate his desire not to provide service to my loved one, but also to thank him for not allowing my nephew to even step foot into his office to receive a consolation. It was made quite obvious at the receptionist's desk that this young man does not represent the clientele he desires to serve. Went there for one tooth extraction and left with TMD. My jaw has been clicking and cracking ever since. I noticed it once the swelling went down and was able to move my mouth. I have dealt with this for a year now and it has gotten worse. It literally feels as though a piece of my jaw cracks off each time I yawn or sneeze or talk while moving my head. I have used this Dentist on a Saturday at TDC and found him to be on time, gentle and thorough. Today saw him at HIS office for 2 procedures I need done, my appt time was 11:45, I got there at 11:15, ( I'm always early), took 5 minutes to fill out paper work,11:25 I was called in for x-rays, from there I went to an examining room and 11:40 the Dr. came in, examined me, told me my options and what he thought should be done. I was leaving his building at 12 noon sharp, I had no waiting at all and I actually thanked him for that, he said he tries because he realizes peoples time is as important as his and tries to work like this at all times. once my Insurance approves everything I will CERTAINLY go ahead, over all he was prompt and courteous. read more

My Primary Care Dentist referred to this so called professional to have a full mouth extraction. I obtained the referral, made the appointment, confirmed the appointment yesterday morning that I was in fact having a full mouth extraction. I arrived this morning, completed the paperwork, had an x-ray, and met with the dentist. He stated that my teeth were all healthy and he wouldn't extract any of them. I have three teeth that were set up for crowns, in which two have filed down and one in cracking in half. Three others have root canals, of which the filling has fallen out on two. I am missing half my teeth from previous extractions. I also have TMH, which causes my teeth to grind. In addition, I have high anxiety and grind my teeth. But these are all healthy teeth! The fact is that my insurance would cover this procedure, however the referring dentist wants to do multiple bridges, which are not covered. Since the two dentists work together, Dr. Hallaian will not do the full mouth extraction because it would stop the referring dentist from doing the bridges and making more money, of which I can only assume Dr. Hallaian gets a kick back from. read more

I met Dr. Hallaian for a consult at Total Dental Care, I had broken my molar all the way down into the root, and behind the molar was a wisdom tooth that had grown into the molar preventing the installation of a crown. The wisdom had grown into the jaw bone, which by pulling it was risky because as Dr. Hallaian explained I could lose feeling and sensitivity in my jaw-bone. Dr. Hallaian explained everything very clearly, and as such we decided together the best route of treatment. We scheduled the extraction of the molar the following week. The day of the extraction we went through everything once more and he explained procedure once again and what I was to expect. Before leaving he made certain I was okay, and feeling fine. He provided me with verbal instruction for aftercare and also written instructions. In addition he completed my aftercare by phoning into the pharmacy antibiotics, oral rinse, and pain killer. Dr. Hallaian did such a good job I did not need any pain killers. I would not hesitate in recommending him to anyone. He is extremely competent and patient. read more
