My dentist was an Air Force Colonel who recently retired. My wife said we need to pick a new dentist. I'll be polite, his replacement is a doowacker. My wife looks at our new plan and chooses a dentist in Middle Island?! While I'm getting coffee across from the campus, I see a new dentist office that opened? Bless my stars! I walk in and speak to the office manager. I tell her I have great dental plan, can I come to the Koeppel Dental Group? Middle Island is so far for me to drive and, wait a second! Is that fresh baked cookies I smell? The office manager is looking at my insurance and explains that the Koeppel Dental Group is a private dentist practice. If you need oral surgery or a crown replaced, the Koeppel Dental Group is ready to assist. But, I can make sure that we will clean your teeth and use my insurance. How awesome is that? At 47 years old, I had been told I was going to lose all of my teeth--not because of poor dental care on my part, but because of issues beyond my control. As a widow, I couldn't stop thinking about the future. Maybe one day I would date again, and the thought of losing all my teeth or wearing dentures was devastating. I couldn't even say the word "denture" without crying. By the time I found Matthew Dental, they were my fourth opinion. Every other consultation felt the same. A dentist would spend only a few minutes with me, tell me I needed a full mouth of implants, then send me to the front desk for a price. The estimates were overwhelming, and I received conflicting information. Some told me I would need multiple surgeries over the course of a year and would have to wear removable dentures until everything healed. Another office claimed they could place four implants in one day and send me home with permanent teeth. I left every appointment more confused than before. I almost canceled my consultation at Matthew Dental because I was exhausted from the entire process. Thankfully, I didn't. I met with Dr. Julie, and from the moment we sat down, everything felt different. She took the time to truly listen to my story. She understood my fears, never rushed me, and never made me feel like just another patient. I became so emotional during the appointment that I broke down in tears. Although all of my teeth needed to be removed, they found a way to avoid a removable upper denture. I only needed a temporary lower denture for a short period, while my upper temporary restoration was fixed and not removable. That made an enormous difference in my confidence throughout the process. Today, my treatment is complete, and my smile is more beautiful than I ever imagined. Throughout every appointment, every procedure, and every setback, the entire team treated me with kindness, patience, and respect. They never judged me. They always took the time to answer my questions and calm my fears. Looking back, I truly believe finding Matthew Dental was an answer to my prayers. They restored much more than my smile--they restored my confidence and my faith that there are still dentists who genuinely care about their patients rather than simply treating them as another appointment on the schedule. So I called Dr Shannon's office (still have no insurance) he took me into the office immediately (an hour after I called) and welcomed me back and took care of my toothache. He worked with me on payments and took care of me. My wife is also going back. He is an excellent dentist who will always give you the absolute best care. Definitely goes above and beyond for his patients. I highly recommend him and his team. My teeth are so white again! Hands down best around.

Saw Dr Grassa 6 months ago at Dr Romeo's office in Massapequa, since Dr Romeo who came highly…read morerecommended by my colleagues was unable to fit me into his schedule. When calling Dr Romeo's office for a F/u appt recently I was informed Dr Grassa had moved to Sayville so I called and made an appt. I saw him recently at Sayville Family Dentistry. My initial interaction with the friendly receptionist was positive. I then saw the hygienist who informed me I may need to return for two deep cleanings, although she had not taken X-rays yet nor had she done my cleaning yet. I was then seen by Dr Grassa who briefly examined me then told me I had a cavity in my wisdom tooth and the tooth required removal. Never showed me the tooth in question by using a mirror, never showed me anything on X-rays and never explained why he came to his conclusion. (I had X-rays done 8 months ago and have never had tooth discomfort). He told to see a dental surgeon. No referrals given for a dental surgeon, no documentation given as to why he reached his conclusion but just a very dismissive /disinterested attitude about my dental care as he just walked out of the room. I do not recommend this dentist and I already have an appt. with a new dentist. I should have seen Dr Romeo instead of wasting my time.

He is very Experienced (23 years in practice), Professional and personable. After repeating X-rays and examining my teeth, he determined that there was no need for "a cap" as suggested by Dr Grassa and no need for 2 deep cleanings as suggested by Arkna his hygienist. He did however have to reclean my teeth despite my having done a cleaning a week ago at Dr Grassa. When something doesn't seem right ALWAYS go for a second opinion!!
