This place is a hidden gem! We made a reservation and were able to do a self guided tour around the property. It is beautiful! Most of the plants are labeled which was awesome. We saw deer, dragonflies, bees, birds and of course, butterflies and caterpillars. The path is narrow, slight elevation changes with steps and hills and one spot with stairs is optional. It felt a little weird walking around the house as people were coming out as we were walking up, but it's part of the tour, so we just continued on.

A very tranquil, appealing place that also sells good quality plants for attracting insect pollinators.

They have an amazing collection of healthy plants, succulents, cacti, bonsai trees as well as numerous greenhouses you can walk through filled with all kinds of potted plants. Their selection is varied and not what you would normally see at other nurseries. I've noticed their plants at other stores so they wholesale as well. When the weather is nice, it is a peaceful quiet place to take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the property. Their employees are always very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. It's hard to walk away without a new green friend in your arms. Parking could be tight on Saturdays. Open limited days and hours.

I searched most of the east bay and finally got a few recommendations from expert plant growers to head up to Sebastopol and visit Lone Pine Gardens. Almost an hour and a half drive and the entrance is just a gate off on Lone Pine with only a couple of places to even park on the narrow road. But definitely worth the drive if you're looking for a variety of Bonsai at different stages and for incredibly reasonable prices. Lone Pine has a fantastic variety of species, stages, and styles of Bonsai plants and trees. What I liked l most was the variety of prices and sizes. Most places charge an arms and a leg but an early bonsai here is close to half the price at other places. The bonus was the nice variety of succulents. A bit out of the way, but the best place to shop for bonsai and browse succulents and other potted plants.

Although under somewhat new ownership, most everything has remained the same. Upon arrival, my friend recognized one of the caretakers, Bob, and what a thorough explanation he provided us about some of the more exotic plants. He is a plethora of garden information! We also had a nice conversation with Mike, the owner. The grounds are expansive (I can understand why there is a suggested donation box) with so much to care for here. We were maybe a week past the Rhododendron peak, but were quite pleased with what we saw nonetheless. The most luscious gardens to delight you as well as a nursery to purchase some of your favorites. Be sure to walk all the paths- each one leads to a different kind of garden, along with some cool benches along the way. What I loved was hearing so many happy birds chirping. The pond is so pretty with the reflections of the rhododendrons on the water. Even the fish were happy as we saw them jumping!

Excellent local garden center. I do native plant landscaping as a side business and have a degree…read morein plant and soil science, so I like to think I know what makes a good garden center. This particular location has a terrific selection of most types of plants. Lots of edible stuff like veggie starts and fruiting bushes and trees. The majority of the available plants are mix of Mediterranean and CA native landscaping plants with a handful of the standard shrubs/trees you'll find at every nursery in the U.S. like crepe myrtles and ornamental conifers. Also tons of herbaceous flowering perennials ranging from 4" pots up to 5 gallons. Also, a great house plant selection! I also believe this spot deserves some serious credit for their selection of native plants. One of the only spots in California you can readily purchase 4" starts of native annuals as well as cryptic and rare perennials. Just a couple days ago, I saw they were selling tomcat clover! That is just too cool. I also just bought a ground cover cultivar o CA buckwheat I've never even heard of. They clearly have someone in their procurement department who knows a good deal about natives. In terms of dry goods, they have a wide variety of pottery as well as all your standard garden center goods such as fertilizers, pest control, irrigation equipment, and general gardening supplies. What really tickles me is their bulk seeds. They have a full hallway with containers on either side with scoopers where you can buy any Lb amount of these seeds. They have tons of landscaping and pasture grass seed as well as some neat cover crop and cover crop mixes. My only complaint about this section is that not all labels have the scientific names. Some do, which is great since you know exactly the species that is being sold. However, one of the erosion control mix listed an annual "California festuca" and a perennial "California festuca". Unsure what species are being sold or if they are actually CA natives. Ultimately not a big deal and I'm sure the staff would be happy to get me the details. BUT if I made the labels...I may include the scientific name ;) All in all, this store and its other locations are a shining light in a dim world of big box stores selling garbage. You truly can find whatever you need for your projects here. I aways stop in when I'm in the area and buy a handful of things. I'll be a customer for as long as they are around!

We always get flowers, fruit trees, gifts, and Happy Frog dirt here. During this visit we noticed it was bare root season. I remember enjoying beautiful and sweet mulberries from Brentwood a couple years ago and they were selling different varieties so we scooped one up and hope it thrives happily here. Employees are always friendly and helpful whether you come in person or call with questions. Inside they have a nice assortment of seeds, houseplants, fertilizers, books and all sorts of gardening supplies. As we were checking out, I noticed they have barrels of all kinds of potatoes! Always such a well-maintained nursery with a robust inventory of products.

The grounds took our breath away, but it was also Denise's expertise and understanding of our limited budget that helped us decide this was the right venue. Throughout planning Denise was amazing and answered all of my insane questions and did multiple tours with family members. We decided to go with Preferred Sonoma Caterers from their vendor list and we were really happy with them as well. Sova including tables and chairs was amazing, and we did all our other rentals through PSC. We also rented the farmhouse for the week which I highly recommend. Our pictures from around the house turned out amazing. I have to stress that the website pictures don't do this place justice. It's beyond gorgeous. Overall, Sova was an exceptional backdrop to our day and I highly recommend it as a venue. Schedule a tour if you're on the fence, you won't regret it!
