Excellent local garden center. I do native plant landscaping as a side business and have a degree in plant and soil science, so I like to think I know what makes a good garden center. This particular location has a terrific selection of most types of plants. Lots of edible stuff like veggie starts and fruiting bushes and trees. The majority of the available plants are mix of Mediterranean and CA native landscaping plants with a handful of the standard shrubs/trees you'll find at every nursery in the U.S. like crepe myrtles and ornamental conifers. Also tons of herbaceous flowering perennials ranging from 4" pots up to 5 gallons. Also, a great house plant selection! I also believe this spot deserves some serious credit for their selection of native plants. One of the only spots in California you can readily purchase 4" starts of native annuals as well as cryptic and rare perennials. Just a couple days ago, I saw they were selling tomcat clover! That is just too cool. I also just bought a ground cover cultivar o CA buckwheat I've never even heard of. They clearly have someone in their procurement department who knows a good deal about natives. In terms of dry goods, they have a wide variety of pottery as well as all your standard garden center goods such as fertilizers, pest control, irrigation equipment, and general gardening supplies. What really tickles me is their bulk seeds. They have a full hallway with containers on either side with scoopers where you can buy any Lb amount of these seeds. They have tons of landscaping and pasture grass seed as well as some neat cover crop and cover crop mixes. My only complaint about this section is that not all labels have the scientific names. Some do, which is great since you know exactly the species that is being sold. However, one of the erosion control mix listed an annual "California festuca" and a perennial "California festuca". Unsure what species are being sold or if they are actually CA natives. Ultimately not a big deal and I'm sure the staff would be happy to get me the details. BUT if I made the labels...I may include the scientific name ;) All in all, this store and its other locations are a shining light in a dim world of big box stores selling garbage. You truly can find whatever you need for your projects here. I aways stop in when I'm in the area and buy a handful of things. I'll be a customer for as long as they are around! read more

I grew up in Sebastopol and always consider Harmony to be a top notch farm supply store. So later in life I thought I'd try working for them in their greenhouse production facility. I love growing plants so I was stoked. Turns out there's a new owner named Rick. And I got to experience him and his "hot young" greenhouse manager. I have never been treated so horribly by an employer. Rick would show up drunk and stumble around being inappropriate with her. This woman was incredibly abusive but when Rick showed up she put on the charm. It was the sleaziest scene with no oversight as this green house is in Santa Rosa away from the actual store. I worked there six months and in that time almost everyone quit. The one girl who stayed on started taking antidepressants to be able tolerate the abuse. I left and I will never shop there again. I have told all my friends and family to go elsewhere. I'm posting this on here because it's the only defense I have against these nasty people. Harmony is not who it once was. This is our neighborhood nursery and we are so lucky to have them so close by. Their inventory changes based on the season. We always get flowers, fruit trees, gifts, and Happy Frog dirt here. During this visit we noticed it was bare root season. I remember enjoying beautiful and sweet mulberries from Brentwood a couple years ago and they were selling different varieties so we scooped one up and hope it thrives happily here. Employees are always friendly and helpful whether you come in person or call with questions. Inside they have a nice assortment of seeds, houseplants, fertilizers, books and all sorts of gardening supplies. As we were checking out, I noticed they have barrels of all kinds of potatoes! I got the best service figuring out a drip irrigation plan for my new garden. I was taught about all the pieces, put them together and they were diagramed on paper all in the store. This is truly a farmer's nursery with actual wood handled tools, not plastic. The inventory of everything from seeds to decorator pots is abundant. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, eager to assist. There are sections for organic vegetables, trees, water tanks, plants, trees from Kew's, grapes to Japanese maples, bushes, normal pots... it goes on for an acre or more of delights including cedar sheds, potting tables, apple trees, garden art, soil... you get the idea. We will revisit when our trunk is not loaded with golf clubs. Oh yes, sections for deer resistant plants as well, which has proven to be an issue in our front yard. After getting to know the Harmony store in petaluma/penngrove, we were thrilled to find this, the mothership store out past sebastopol/graton area. The location is super easy to find, off the main highway, and has lots of easy to access and free onsite parking. Inside the gates awaits you a ton of garden supplies, plants of all kinds, and friendly, helpful staff who go the extra mile to connect you with resources, answers, and to geek out about plants with you. I love it! I was wandering the rows and spotted a gorgeous dragonfly and followed it around with the help of a staff member watering plants and they were equally impressed with the dragonfly's majestic elegance. On our trip here, we picked up a gorgeous blueberry bush with lovely red foliage, and we can't wait to see what the berries taste like when they're ready. We were delighted to also find a fruit salad tree- think the fruit tree of your dreams- each of the four main branches are a different fruit! Peach, nectarine, plum and apricot are all there "under one roof." Brilliant. Our issue was we don't have a truck, and this tree was taller than we could fit in our suv. Since the petaluma/penngrove store is much closer to us, they offered to store-to-store ship for free, and then we could pick it up closer and make the short uncomfortable drive much shorter. We jumped at the opportunity, paid for our tree and they called us a few days later to say it was ready for a pick up. Other than their friendly and helpful staff and awesome plants, the interior is packed with everything you might need for your yard and garden (and more). I love the gopher/mole/vole baskets since we have those everywhere, and it's an investment worth its weight in gold. They also have a ton of plant snacks for every plant, tools galore, and gear for all gardener/farmer types. Prices are reasonable for the equivalent elsewhere, and selection is top shelf. Truly though what is making me return here are those awesome folx who work here and really love what they do. Can't beat those dragonflies either- we will absolutely be back. read more

I've passed this so many times (going to and from some of my fav wineries in the area) and I finally stopped in - so glad I did. What a huge shop - a very large, healthy looking selected of plants - LOTS of succulents, garden flowers, roses, bushes and on and on. I didn't browse too much inside but they have a really big inside area full of planting supplies, farming needs etc. It is a treasure trove for sure! read more

We visited Harmony Farms today to get our annual vegetable garden started, like we've been doing for many years, and also wanted to pick up a few decorative plants. When we saw the prices we were shell shocked. A small pot of lavendar or rosemary were selling for 13+ dollars. Unbelievable. We observed prices 50-75 percent more than last year. We try our hardest to support local business but when confronted with something as blatant as this we'll go elsewhere. We found similiar items at Walmart and Home Depot for less than $5. Decent nursery located in beautiful west county of Sebastopol on Hwy 116. A great variety of plants with wonderful and helpful staff. I came here primarily for succulents. These guys have a wonderful selection and also sell massively huge succulent plants and cactus. The buddha garden decorations under the Japanese maple when you first walk in is very inviting. Great prices on those little buddha guys. I would of brought one home but frankly, I have too many buddhas already. All of the staff members helped me find the right fit and pet friendly plants. There is plenty of parking and restrooms available for their customers. I did see some dogs walking around so they seemed pet friendly. read more

Best nursery farm supply I've ever been to and I have gone to many of them over the years. Was in town going a wine pick up party nearby and stopped in here to get ideas as I've recently redone my whole yard and needed some plants. Once I walked in I could not leave. Literally the amazing selection of plants, natural fertilizers and decorations was total plant eye candy if there was such a thing. The people who work here are awesome. I told them what I was trying to do in my yard like find plants I don't have to water:) Instead of just sending me down some section to then disappear they actually thoughtfully went over all my options. An hour later I had a bunch of plants I bought a water meter for the garage and even some sprouting potatoes I could plant. All there fertilizers are OMRI listed (look it up). Later when I got home I had an issue with the water meter set up so I called them and they happily walked me through how to fix the issue. Five stars all the way. read more

I had bought a lime tree last year and it had green fruit on it, it was labeled a lime tree, but it turned out to be a lemon, labeled incorrectly. Went back to Harmony and was told that they would give me half credit for the tree and could come back when they had citrus tress and purchase another one. Was not my mistake. Shopping local is always better for the economy. Harmony as a local farm and nursery supply is on the list of local providers. They have a large selection of plants and materials available as well as a fair amount of native plants. They are more expensive than large retail chains, but you hope they would make up for it in service. We have purchased dozens and dozens of fruit trees, shrubs and plants from them as we have begun to completely redo the garden and land of the home we moved into last fall. Set up accounts with them to track our purchases and hoped that we would benefit from using them as our primary source. Today, we took a simple return of a bare root tree that didn't take. It was part of the many we purchased and this was the only one that didn't take. Evidently there is a window to return bare root trees. Coming with it 5 months after purchase but not June 1-30 means they won't honor their return policy. Dealing local means idiosyncrasies and so far the extra cost, limited service, and hassle to exercise their return policy pushes me to go back to Lowe's or Home Depot. If I'm going to be treated poorly, I might as well save money going to a large chain. read more

I had no idea what I was looking for, or what kind of plants, and they helped me with a few great suggestions. I went On a Sunday morning and luckily it wasn't crowded. I wad outside and asked an employee ID they had Crape Myrtles. She said yes and pointed to the other side of where we were and said i think they're over by the Arbor. I asked if they would be okay in a half wine barrel and she said I guess so!!!!!! I went over to the arbor area looking for the crape myrtle, but could not find one, the employee walked by me and looked at me snd kept walking. Needless to say I did not find what I was looking for and if I wanted crappy customer service, I would have gone to Lowe's. So disappointed and annoyed. read more
