These people at halo are wicked. They will steal your dog and adopt it out. A man's dog got loose and eventually someone brought the dog to halo. He had been in contact with them trying to get his dog who was an older dog 15 or so, they tried to say the dog was not being taken care of properly because of his skin condition but the owner had brought the dog to vet before for this issue and the dogs getting older. They ended up refusing the owner the dog and adopted the dog out to some stranger. They knowingly took this man's dog and gave him to someone else. Evil despicable people. This man is amazing with his dogs and halo even called the animal control on his other dog even though they never met the dog. The owner only told them that they were taking the dog from his brother. The dog loved his brothe and his dad so much. Its a very sad situation. This is just a quick overview but these people are the worst. They also stole another woman's cat. Animal thieves. The cops just say its a civil matter. They need to be held accountable for there actions. There are many people who know this man and know how good he is with his dogs. read more

I left my two dogs with Halo in Sebastian for a week to take a cruise When I had returned, I had my husband pick with up, had a bit of a cold coming on. They told him his appointment wasn't till 11:30, but we were an hour early . well we were able to get off the boat sooner. When the lady gave my husband the dogs ,the one dog (pumpkin) didn't seem herself! Husband was just thinking she needed to come home and see me and all would be fine. When I got her she as so weak and could even stand! Than my husband told me The lady at halo said she didn't eat well So I started giving her water with peanut butter, hoping she would get her Straight back! No she just died in my arms I'm so heartbroken that i thought this would be a safe and caring place to keep My dogs! I have never boarded my dog ever! This is my first experience ! I was told that maybe her sugar levels dropped the day we picked her up! Her never had heath she did have issues that she needed ice in her water needed to be taken out to potty. Their adoption process is bs!!!! I waited for months for 1 dog to get out of heart worm treatment . I was first one to put in application on her . I called the day she was ready and they told me doctor hasn't released her they would call me . well a week went by I called and they adopted her out to someone else ! After I went and spent hundreds of dollars on dog supplies , bedding etc . . I'm very unhappy !! And pissed off . First come first serve ??? I been calling ! About her . I was amazed that this No-Kill shelter wasn't listed here. We adopted a six year old Greater Swiss Mountain Dog (Ami) from them a year ago. A healthy, hilarious and well behaved addition to the family. I was extremely impressed with their operation, and the dedication of volunteers and staff. An operation of this magnitude represents a true love of animals, and is certainly no small task. My understanding is that they do boarding and grooming there also, although living several miles away, it is slightly out of the range of convenience in that regard. Did not allow an adoption because of the street we live on, "in case the cat gets out". Owned a cat for 10 years and never let the cat get out. They had no issues taking the $25 hold fee while processing the application. Do not give donations to a group like this that could have easily asked what type of road we live on and saved us time, money and disappointment. Also very rude. read more

ANIMAL THIEVES FOR PROFIT! My neighbor works here and STOLE my daughters outside cat and brought her to HALO as a stray knowing the cat lived next door to her. They have a 5 day period that if you don't claim your pet within, they can adopt it out to someone else! We didn't think to check a shelter in Sebastian because we lived in Vero Beach! Once we found her, it was past the 5 days and they refused to give her back saying she has already been adopted out. A HALO VOLUNTEER ADOPTED HER! They lied saying she had Mange! In fact, she has been treated for years with a skin condition due to allergies, NOT MANGE! We have vet records to prove this. HALO kept her in Isolation for over a month not allowing her out of a cage for more than a few minutes at a time. Great job hiring thieves, HALO! I will make sure to blast this all over the web so people know what kind of place this is. P.S. The next time my neighbors pit bull growls at my son, guess who's calling animal control? :) read more

First let me say Halo is wonderful! I take my now 17 year old Cocker Spaniel to Halo for grooming. They are so compassionate and caring with my Maggie Mae. Nicole always does a great job each time she arrives to be bathed, hair cut, nails etc. always careful not to push her too hard or to stress her. Expediting the services as much as she will tolerate, working with her from start to finish without putting her in a cage and calling me so I can pick her up right away. GREAT PEOPLE! I previously used a large pet chain store for years and always had some problem or another, she was cut, they broke a nail (requiring surgery), not putting her in a cage (actually caught them with her in a cage dryer) no way dogs die when forgotten in those dryers) always paid well over $100 each time plus time and two years ago they told me she was too much trouble so I should find another groomer... Maggie Mae and I did and that place is HALO Rescue Grooming, Thank you HALO you are a wonderful. Nicole Maggie Mae and I are so very thankful to have such a wonderful groomer, so caring, compassionate and do a great job! Don't forget donate to HALO $$, blankets, towels all those things we have spoiled our animals with that are not used and in good shape. I went to Halo in Sebastian to adopt a dog & the "trainer" decided I wasn't a good match for their dogs. The one dog he let me see... he held the leash so that the dog was unable to interact with me at all.... This man has been there for years & evidently has a strong attachment to these dogs & does not want to let people adopt his "pack". WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! I never got a chance to get any testimonials from my friends and family that know what a good dog owner I am!! This man judged me from the time I walked into that establishment and refused to consider letting me adopt one of his precious dogs!! We reluctantly surrendered our full bred GSD to them after she attacked 2 of our other dogs. The "trainer" was a pompous windbag with no clue about dogs, he was absolutely horrible! We explained that she must go to a home where she was the only pet and he told us that he had been doing this for years and that he would have her "running with the pack" in two weeks. We tried to tell him that she had "run with the pack" just fine since she was 4 weeks old, and then one day a year later, she didn't. We had this conversation after we had signed the paperwork, we never would've left her there if we hadn't. I attempted to provide them with a list of her commands, as they were not the usual words, but he refused it. We checked in on their website, and she was adopted and returned at least twice, I stopped checking because it broke my heart. If anyone adopted a GSD named Abaddon, she's a great girl and had very expensive training, I just hope that she is the only dog in your home. read more

They make sure every animal goes to the best home, not just any home. Their commitment to every animal and their well being before and after adoption is paramount. The absolute best rescue in Florida, hands down. To start, they are the only no-kill rescue in Indian River County. If that doesn't say something, I don't know what will. I adopted my dog Rocky on June 9th 2015. To say that HALO has gone above and beyond is an understatement. No matter what is going on HALO is there to help me with rocky. They don't want to see any dog re-abandoned. From boarding rocky while I'm away to being the only place I trust to bathe and cut Rockys nails (if he is feeling nice that day ). I fostered 2 puppies for almost 4 weeks.I called and said I wanted to adopt the girl and they put it in my file. We dropped the puppies off Wednesday for shots and filled out our application. We were suppose to get snoopy back after she was spayed. They wanted a $25 deposit by the end of the day. I completely forgot to call back but they assured me the dogs would not be put up for adoption until they got spayed and neutered. I called back to make my deposit and they said sorry the dogs have been adopted (this was 72hrs later). She stated she had showed the dogs the day we dropped them off to people. She also said she tried calling me and my phone was disconnected. The number she read off on the application was in fact my number but my phone was never disconnected and had received no calls from them. Not only did we supply the food for these dogs, but it is outrageous that they admitted to showing the dogs that day after we left. I'm completely pissed and feel like they lied about trying to contact us. If they were not suppose to be put up for adoption for a week then how did they adopt them out within 2 days. These people are saints. I've gotten certificates to lower the cost of neutering and spaying my cats from them and that really helped. I try to get to Petco in Vero Beach at least once on the weekend because that's when their volunteers take the cats and sometimes dogs to try and find a home for them. All the animals look like they're in good shape. My husband and I adopted a cat from them a few years ago. Lucy Lu. I'm so glad they were there that day and we met Lucy Lu. She's somewhat of a special needs cat and she's brought a lot of joy into my life. If you're looking to adopt a pet, I don't think you would go wrong if you adopted from Halo. Beware!!! I just adopted a couple of weeks ago. The poor dog was adopted out to us with a severe skin infection and giardia. We are now up to over 1200 in vet bills due to severe illness that out vet is trying to figure out. Read your adoption papers. You are screwed if the pet is given to you sick. They also never put flea control on the animals due to" financial limitations" but you pay $200.We were also lied too. They told us that the pet was given up because the previous owners could not have the pet due to a move. When we informed them the pet was sick and we wanted medical information. We were then told the pet was in 3 other homes in 8 months but was never turned in for medical reasons. This place needs to be investigated!!!! They are all about the money. How much does the owner Jackie bring in yearly for a non-profit organization. We rescued this poor animal from HALO. read more
