They were fantastic! I called on a Tuesday and they gave me an appointment for the next day. I needed a health certificate for my mom's cat to fly. I asked if they could groom the cat and although they don't usually do that they happily agreed to put her under and bathed her as well as updating her vaccinations. I am new to the area and have a zoo (5 cats, english bulldog). In addition, my partner and I found a cat hanging around the house two weeks ago. Very sweet and lovable. We needed a vet to make sure she was good to integrate with the rest of the household. Even though these reviews are a bit dated, I was happy that they were cat vets as well as dog vets so I decided to go here. They were able to fit me the day after Thanksgiving. We did not have long to wait even though we were a few minutes late for the appointment. The girls at the front desk were wonderful as were the vet techs. The doctor was very pleasant and knowledgable; went out of his way to explain the new rabies vaccination when expressed my concern about a possible reaction. Everyone was really good with the cat, she was very comfortable with them, even though she was a stray. What I really liked is the fact that the vets are part of a wellness program because more and more people are using mobile vets. Since mobile vets are not regulated, they can be sketchy. Here at Maybeck, shots are complimentary with a wellness exam. Talk about a win-win! In short this was a huge find for me as I travel on a regular basis and needed to make sure my animals had proper care. With Maybeck, I know they will. read more

Top notch service. My dog needed emergency spay. I used to go to Banfield and used their wellness plan, but Banfield has been going downhill for at least the past year. When they refused to schedule an emergency spay Maybeck was more than happy to accomodate. Dr Welton has performed hundreds of spay procedures, and the entire operation was seamless. The explanation of the Dr and his staff left us at ease. After the operation we were allowed to see our pet who was recovering well. I can't say enough good things about Maybeck, Dr. Welton and the entire staff. My 9 year old cat passed away very suddenly a couple of months ago. I called Maybeck and asked if they could examine him to see what may have caused his death and was told to bring him right over. Everyone was so comforting arranged for his cremation. When they called for me to pick up his remains, I was stunned. His ashes are in a lovely cedar box with a brass nameplate, a cremation card and certificate and a heart shaped cast with his footprints. When I had my brother cremated several years ago, he was returned to me in a canvas bag and cardboard box. Several weeks later my cat and 2 dogs came down with medical problems all around the same time. I brought them in and again was made to feel like a priority and received amazing treatment. We have always felt that we have their complete attention and have never felt rushed. One dog had surgery and they were fabulous with him and me as I was a wreck and know I was a hysterical pain. I would trust them for their judgement and assessments. The rating regards the front office staff. There is no reason for the staff to espouse their political views while paying customers sit and wait. It doesn't matter your views of our government, you are welcome to them. But don't preach ad nauseum your personal views while conducting business. Nobody cares what you think at work. We are looking for another vet. When I moved to the area 8/13, I was so lucky to come to Maybeck Animal Hospital. My previous vet had frustrated the heck out of me because they had not believed that I knew my dog and would tell me things that I knew were wrong, and at the same time would leave decisions up to me that could cost 100s of $$ without explaining what the difference was to me. Here, Dr. Fogelburg actually listens to me when I tell him about my dog, even when he doesn't think something is likely, he'll still take my opinion into consideration and test for what I think is going on. Unprofessional, irresponsible, and barbaric. This was our experience with a botched euthanization at Maybeck. I called ahead to schedule a time. They let me know that they use the back door to make things easier, and to call when we arrived. I had to ask them about payment because that part should be done in advance. I was told that once my Mother and her cat were settled in the room I could go up front and make the payment. Nice plan. Too bad nothing worked out that way. I called when we arrived, as requested. No one came to the back door to let us in. I knocked several times. Finally had to leave my Mother and her cat on the sidewalk while I hurried around the side and front of the building to go inside and ask that someone let us in. Finally inside we were led to a room. The tech said the doctor would be in shortly. I asked about going to the front and she said she would be right back. Instead of coming back to take me up front, she proceeded to discuss the details and ask for payment right there in the room (how convenient they have a credit card machine in each exam room). This is not something that needs to be discussed in front of the person about to lose an animal. Absolutely unnecessary and unprofessional. The doctor came in and explained they would take the cat, put a catheter in (a catheter is used as a direct path into a vein), bring the cat back, then administer two shots (a sedative to eliminate pain then an anesthetic to stop the heart). Asked if my Mother would like to hold the cat during the procedure, and she said yes. They take the cat, bring him back, put him in her arms, and administer the first shot. The vet stands there for an awkward amount of time and then says "the catheter isn't working". This means that the injection (sedative) didn't go into the vein. More importantly it means that no one checked it before they brought the cat back in for the procedure. Instead of dealing with and solving the mistake, the vet then asks my Mother if she wants them to try putting in another catheter. I could write paragraphs of how asinine and ridiculous this is. You don't ask a grieving person, who doesn't understand the intricacies of a procedure like this, what THEY want YOU to do! YOU'RE supposed to be the professional, although that was blown the minute the catheter wasn't checked. I suggested that what she wanted him to do was resolve the situation as quickly and humanely as possible. He then said they had to put the cat on the table as he was taking him away from her. Both she and the cat are trying to figure out what's going on at this point. He says he is going to insert the second shot but not to worry as the cat won't feel anything because of the sedative. Now wait. If "the catheter isn't working" (his exact words) then the sedative was not administered as it should have been. If it could just be randomly injected anywhere, why use the catheter? Logic would tell us that the sedative was not administered properly and therefore not working as it should. The doctor saying otherwise was a weak attempt at covering up and making us feel better. It wasn't the time or place to point out that he was wrong and make an issue of it. He injects the second shot and pulls back slightly on the syringe plunger. This is done to check if blood comes in the syringe which proves it is in a vein. No blood. He removes, tries again, pulls back the plunger, no blood. He grabs clippers off the table and removes hair from the cat's leg. Injects the needle, pulls back the plunger, no blood (so it's obviously not in a vein) then just pushes the contents of the syringe into the leg. So three tries at trying to find a vein and what.....just shoot the anesthetic in and hope for the best? It was surreal and sad to watch. The vet then takes a stethoscope, puts it on the cat for about 1/2 of a second, then says his heart has stopped. After 2 or 3 seconds of silence, the vet and tech leave the room. I look down and the cat's eyes are still open. Now the absolute last thing my Mother needs to see is her lifeless (maybe, maybe not ??) cat staring back at her. So I have to scramble to find something in the room and put it over the cat's head before she walks past. Thanks again, doc. Make no mistake. This review is about the clueless doctor who performed this disaster, and the hospital owner who has failed due to a complete lack of leadership. The staff here is as caring and friendly as they can be. It's not their fault that their management has failed them. There should be established procedures in place, especially for something as important as euthanizing an animal. Just because they may do it on a regular basis doesn't mean they can lose sight of the importance and gravity of the situation. It is an experience that will stay with someone for the rest of their life. You don't get a "do over" if you screw it up beyond belief. Animals, and their owners, deserve better than to be traumatized and brutalized. read more

My dog Baylie has been going to Maybeck Animal Hospital for over a year now and it was the best decision I've made for her. She has a skin allergy issue on her paw and was being seen regularly for laser treatment. We had our yearly exam recently and when she was taken in the back for blood work I could hear everyone saying, "Baylie's here!" and hello to her. She is always comfortable there and it's refreshing to not have a stressful vet experience, especially since we have to go often. The doctors are very nice and helpful as well as cost conscious when it comes to recommending treatment. I cannot express how much I absolutely LOVE this vets office! I have been going there for about a year now, and every visit is a pleasure. I originally went to them because I was looking for a good ferret vet. I knew that the local ferret rescue uses him, and I've seen a lot of the stuff he has treated with the rescues with good results, so I went ahead and made an appointment. The first visit I had with them was a ferret that I'd taken in who had a large lump in his abdomen. Needless to say I was pretty terrified of what was going to happen to my baby (last time I'd brought one of my kids in with a lump he ended up having cancer and it was in a really bad spot and it was decided it would be kinder if he never woke up from surgery- different vet, but a traumatic experience). The doctor was wonderful through the entire exam, and he helped me calm down a lot before we even got the results back. Turned out it was an enlarged spleen that would need to be reviewed surgically. Course I start panicking again, trying to figure out how to pay for such an expensive procedure, but they calm me down again (I swear I'm only this panicky when it comes to my fur kids lol) and then we work to figure out a way to pay for the surgery. They were kind enough to offer me a payment plan for it. Not all vets do this, and you could tell that everyone there cared for my baby and wanted to get him better just as much as I did! The day came when he went into surgery, and everyone there was just so wonderful again! I couldn't bear to leave the office while my little guy was there, so I ended up hanging out there for hours. They were just so nice the whole time. I've never had such a good experience at a vets office before. The surgery also went really well and smoothly, and he recovered very quickly! Since that initial visit I've been back a few more times. I went in with all 5 of my ferrets for their vaccinations and to get blood sugars on a few, and that time went super smoothly as well. The staff also really enjoyed seeing and interacting with my guys, and you can just tell that they care about each and every animal that walks in there. I also had a good experience when it came to paying off my surgery bill. Every month they'd give me a call to ask if it was ok for them to run the payment through. I've never had a vet call me and make sure it was ok to take the money out right then before! I really appreciated it, because it allowed me to always make sure the payment wasn't going to overdraft my account or anything. It's a small thing that meant a lot. Also, every time I've called them or come in in person, they always call me by name and know who my pets are. Another small thing that really means a lot to me. I've only taken my ferrets into this vet's so far, but they are now my "go to" vets office for all my animals (cats, reptiles, gerbils) because I know I can trust them and that they honestly do care. I'd recommend this vet to anyone, and actually already do tell all my friends to go there if they are looking for a new vet. And I can vouch that it's a wonderful place to take your ferrets, and it's very difficult to find a knowledgable and experienced ferret vet these days! Hello...I am a local doctor and have been taking my dogs to Maybeck, specifically, Roger Welton for years. My two 14yo Bullies have had some severe issues, Tennessee with dementia and Buc with cancer. Welton placed Tennessee on a very special medication and had been monitoring him closely for 2 years for that issue, he was also treating him for spinal and ligament issues 3 times a week. At the same time Buc had a huge cancerous lesion on his penis and was referred to a surgeon. While this was all going on Welton was buying a vet office, Grant Animal Hospital and was spreading himself too thin, one office had NO idea what the other office was doing and DID NOT want to know, DON'T GET INVOLVED IN THAT WEB!. So here I am trying to have my 2 guys seen by Welton, if, I was able to find out which office he would be in, sometimes an impossible task. To cut a long story short. Tennesssee's dementia is acting up and I have to find another vet, but, other vets don't agree with Welton's treatment, but I do, as it did work. As for Buc, the surgeon wanted to amputate Buc's penis and do a sex change, she called me up at night and said we have to do this ASAP due to possible metastasis, the next morning I went to see Welton and he refused to see Buc as he said he was too confused to continue treatment and basically, hit the road. It seems that the information that was coming in from the surgeon and oncologist was confusing Welton, his staff and both offices. There seems to be an issue that you can ONLY go to one of the offices, not both. This confused me as I received follow up cards from both offices, but, this is just an example of their continued ineptness. I could go on with the crazy story but it is too painful to relive. I found myself transporting my 90 lb Pitbull with cancer and my 50 lb guy around from office to office to find Welton. So, I feel I have been abandoned and know if I acted the same way toward one of my patients, perhaps even you, my license would have a problem. I am now trying to get answers through the American and Florida Vet Associations but am most hopefully by pursuing these issues with the DPBR,,,, Department of Business and Professional Regulation, to a professional, they are like the IRS, you know how you would feel if you heard from them. I am sorry to carry on about this we feel VERY wronged. It was never a matter of money as I paid them thousands but my guys are my life and I love them with all my heart and soul, as I know you love your 4-legged ones. I just am so disappointed in Welton and his abandoning my guys because he over whelmed himself with the second office. He is not himself anymore but which Welton is the real Welton. God Bless! I moved from Boston and had been looking for a Vet I could trust. Thankfully, Maybeck offers the absolute best service a puppy mommy could ever ask for! They really go above and beyond. Sandy who works the reception desk is the sweetest lady on earth, always friendly and personable. Truly, just a ray of sunshine :) The veterinarians are highly skilled, intelligent and caring. My vet took the time to follow up after I had taken my pup in for her annual vaccinations, not only so he could communicate the results of her blood work, but also to answer any questions I had lingering around in my head. I let him know that I was a bit skeptical about a certain vaccine that my dog never had before, as I had been researching it to determine whether the benefits outweighed the risks. We ended up chatting on the phone for a 20 minute Q&A sesh! It was obvious he cared about my dog, and wanted to make sure I was satisfied with Maybeck's services. I am owner of shih tzu puppy, my puppy (2 years)one of their patients. 1.5 months ago On Friday I bring my puppy just for diarrhea for 3 days but Dr.David Fogelberg gave my puppy injections not for diarrhea (for vommit) and gave my puppy 2 kind of medicines (1 is antibiotics and others is for ulcer) as not for diarrhea. He didn't gave medicines for stop the diarrhea. How come ?? He didn't take stool samples either? He didn't tell/write the side effects of medicines??2 medicines and 1 shot just for a LITTLE puppy diarrhea??? After came back from this horrible place and gave my puppy lunch with 2 kind medicines, after couple hours my puppy start labored breathing. Why? Because allergic reactions of medicines and shoot and too much medicines ? ( even human diarrhea no need 3 kinds of medicines). I brought my puppy 3 times in a week to this place. Every time I went there, they gave injections.Finally my puppy DIED just 1 week since I brought him to this place because labored breathing and lack appetite and swallowed red eyes and can't sleep. I lost my baby with broken hearts till now. This DEViL place not should open business. They just want your money!!!
