We just moved to the area back in May. One of my dogs has hemangiosarcoma and needs to get bloodwork done every few weeks. He does not like getting blood drawn at all. They are so extremely good and patient with him. The vet calls me everytime the results are ready to go over them with me. The results come in very quickly since they're in house. His levels were really low a few weeks ago and I was having trouble getting in contact with our oncologist (they're not local). Their techs and vets called me multiple times to check on him and see if I had an update from the oncologist on how to move forward. When we finally decided on a game plan to move forward, it was close to closing time for them and they made it possible for me to pick up the prescription I needed once I got off work. I've also brought my other dog in for her leg. She tore her ACL a few months back and it was pretty clear that we were going to need surgery. The vet came in explained that instead of paying them to do a xray, just to get one done with her surgeon because we were all pretty confident she needed TPLO surgery (this was her second one). They're very considerate of your time and your money. No, they're not the cheapest vet in the area, but they save you money where they can and provide amazing service in return. Last time I was in there, I was stressed and overwhelmed and they made it clear to me that they are there for me and my dogs. Also, Misti is a rockstar at drawing blood. Everything was going well. Until, we opted for Boarding:-( We liked Dr.K Stengard. WHY WOULD WE BOARD MY MEDICAL SERVICE dog?? She's never left my side. Since, she was 8 weeks old, she was housebroken at 10 weeks old. She's never been crated (A PC acceptable term in the new normal we are living. "No she's never been put in any type of cage" We have Hannahs parents DNA papers. Her Breeder(Pls,excuse my previous typo. Intended to say Breeder) is a compassionate highly educated in the veterinary field. Passionate about the care, health, and importance of the selected parents and the care of the puppies. Definitely, not a puppy mill. My previous Service Fur Friend was rescued by a no kill pet shelter in Boca R., Fla. Looking for 2 yrs for the right Furry Friend. Much to our discouragement. We did have to "Buy" Hannah. Cost due to being a legit Service Dog For My Serious Medical Needs is astronomical. Sincerely...she is priceless, after Hannah boarded for 10 days. As most of you know who follow my reviews from East Coast to W.Coast cross country, not just in Fla. We had the misfortune of an auto accident. To be exact. I was in a wheel C. for 3 mths. With multiple bone fractures. Painful intensive PT, surgery. A truck hit the passenger side of our large SUV After 18 mths( 9 mths of COVID lockdown just like everyone else and 10mths mostly laying on a bed. If that's not enough to break someone's spirit I don't know what is. We went back and forth about leaving Hannah in boarding to take a brief so much needed time off. He wanted to take me on a road trip to see the Fall change of color. Since, my husband was providing her care. And, working full time at home. Also, all the other with me. Family members advised, her vet is the best person/s to trust to her care. Bottom line. The office closes at 5pm opens at 8am the next morning. Do the math of how many hours is that in a Kennel/Cage? For Hannah a 5'-7' containment. I want to forget this, trying not to think about it. THIS IS THE PRIMARY REASON MOST VETS. DO NOT DO BOARDING. It's a specialized, intense animal care with lots of responsibility. 24/7 care including Video Cameras for you to see your family member. I'd rather not go into further details. I sincerely regret Hannah's boarding incident.(Always ask for a written incident report. It's the law. I wish I had read a few more reviews on this facility. This was our first time here as we're new to the area and things were a little hectic. After the exam they requested the credit card for payment and brought back the itemized statement. I thought it sounded very high and upon looking at it, I noted they charged $180 for a Titer test! Most vets charge $90-100......I should have asked the cost but, since I had a good idea what other vets were charging, it didn't occur to me that any business with any degree of integrity would charge DOUBLE what everyone else charged. It's such a shame that a business would do this when people are making an effort to provide good healthcare to their pets and don't expect to be robbed while doing so. read more

On May 18th my husband brought my German Shepherd In to be seen because she was in a lot of pain with an excessive arch I'm her back. She was given an X-ray that showed there was no issue with her hips or joints and the Vet seen how her intestines were almost up into her spine. He "thought she had an inflamed uterus, gave her meds, took blood work, and basically told my husband to wait for the blood work to come back and the office would notify him. We got a second opinion because she was in so much pain and we didn't agree with his "thoughts".. That night the New Vet reviewed the X-ray and immediately told us she needed emergency surgery that her intestines had flipped and her spleen was wrapped in them!! So today after a 3 hour emergency surgery she is doing great and being monitored over night. When this vet called my husband about her blood work today my husband told him what was happening and the Vet said. "There's no way the Vet seen that on an X-ray" guess what!?! All you have to do is google and view images and he would have clearly seen how that was possible. My dog would have died if we didn't Listen to our intuitions he also prescribed pain medication and anti inflammatory medication that if we were to have given her could have further damaged her intestines. Maybe he could have consulted other Vets, prior classmates, a mentor from school when he was unsure or couldnt explain something that was happening with her!!!!! Horrible I would never recommend or send my animals to this clinic. We went to Vero Beach Veterinary Hospital with high expectations because we were recommended by our former vet who no longer practices. We took our dog Espy for a second opinion here because of a cough that wouldn't go away. They seemed very kind and helpful at first. The doctor and her assistant took Espy to the back because they said they wanted to take an X-ray and blood test. Espy is always nervous when she goes to the vet. Some time later, the doctor opened the door and strangely said "We had to sedate her." My immediate reaction was a gasp and I put my hands to my mouth. She then said its for the X-ray because she's nervous. Fine, but why didn't she ask us first? We would have asked for information about the type of sedation, side effects, etc. Espy is an old girl so we don't like giving her meds she might not need. We wait for what seems like forever and finally after we are moved into another room we get Espy back. She was like a rag doll in my arms. We got her results from the x-ray and thankfully it wasn't anything extremely serious. The vet also explained that she wanted a urine sample to be brought to the office the next day because of something she saw in the blood work with her kidneys. I asked how long Espy would be this drugged up. The vet said that shes going to "sleep really well." My face clearly expressed shock and she continued by saying they gave her a really small amount of a sedative "like Valium." She is prescribed two medications. One is for the inflammation in her lungs. The other is Valium. Quizzically we ask why she needs this. The vet explains that she shouldn't be nervous because it contributes to the coughing. Espy is never nervous at home. Only at the vet's office and on long car trips. My mother pays the bill and then we leave. We were at the vet's for about two hours. Most time Espy is in the back. Espy got worse from the time we left. I think she tried her best to stay alert at the veterinary hospital but once she knew she was safe with us, she turned into a zombie. She could barely walk, she couldn't hold her head up and wouldn't eat or drink anything. I was extremely worried but I thought I was overreacting. I watched her through the night and she finally drank some water. In the morning she was slightly more alert but she had trouble keeping herself upright. We took her with us to breakfast on the beach. She was passed out in my lap the whole time. Obviously still sedated. The doctor's office called to check on her the next day, which was a little strange. My mother told them she wasn't happy with how they handled the sedation. They NEVER asked for permission and obviously she doesn't do well with sedatives so we didn't want the Valium that was prescribed. She went to the hospital and gave back the bottle. One of the staff members said they don't accept returns on medication, understandable, but why do we want this especially after how our dog was acting! The assistant who handled Espy the day before came out and argued with my mom saying the veterinarian ASKED US if we were okay with them giving her a sedative. There's no way she knows that because she wasn't there when the doctor awkwardly came in to say she had to be sedated. Anyways, the vet called my mother after this and apologized for the misunderstanding, also saying she will credit the cost of the Valium to our account. They agreed on collecting the urine sample later in the week as the results could be compromised from the sedation. Moving on to Espy's follow up appointment: Espy's cough has improved so that is great news. When my mother pays the bill, the credit is not there. The employee then states that there will be no credit for the Valium (even though the doctor said so.) Yesterday my mother finds out why this whole situation smells bad. The vet agrees to the refund for the Valium BUT now she says that she "forgot" to charge us for the "IV sedation" that Espy received. IV SEDATION?!. It's very strange that she didn't charge for that the first time. Is it because she didn't want that recorded? Why was Espy back there for an hour with the vet and the technicians? We are shocked that they gave her an IV and didn't give us any information about it. I understand this is common for X-rays because the dog must remain completely still but being that drugged up for that long is NOT normal. It took about 3 days for her to get back to her old self. Espy is 16 and a half years old. We are very lucky she is back to normal but next time we need to take her to a vet we will make sure we know everything they will do to her BEFORE. I'm sharing this with you because it could have turned out worse. This is NOT about the money. It's about how they handled Espy at her first visit and the after effects. read more

My experience wasn't a nice one at all. I took my parakeet in today to have his beak trimmed, He was playful with his little buddy Tequela, every day, chirping and singing, but having difficulty eating due to his overgrown beak. He played and chirped all the way to the vet. I was very nervous about possibly losing him to stress as he wouldn't let us handle him. Very skittish. The assistant got him out of the cage and held him in the cloth while Dr. Stenborg got out the dremmal or however you spell i,t and said that there was a chance he could go into shock and die from the procedure from stress which I had heard could happen, but due to the long beak decided we had to take the risk. She assured us that it had never happened during her practice. I was not impressed when she went at him with a dremmel on a tiny little point the size of a needle. He wasn't a parrot with a huge beak. I expected little scissors of some sort to snip off the point. She kept at him with the dremmel and I knew he was frightened to death.. Literally..., The assistant said uh oh..we need to get him on oxygen. I was dying when they took my little Tico out of the room. I said a praye,r but to no avail. She brought him back in quite a few minutes later dead in the little cloth and apologized, but with absolutely no feeling. I understand she is used to death of pets. but a little more feeling would have been nice. My heart was broke as she passed him in the little cloth to me and asked me if I wanted to take him home to bury. She began to show me some skin under his feathers on his neck and said he was jaundiced which she said could be a liver condition. Maybe so but he played, ate like a little horse and sang all the time and all the way to the veterinary, so I'm not so sure he was sick, but I know she had to blame it on something to make me feel a little better which didn't help a bit. My little chirping bird went in and I felt so guilty that I took him there and blamed myself all day and tonight that I killed him. My heart is broke tonight and the only thing I regret is that I didn't wait til and take him to a bird veterinarian in Sebastian who may have handled the procedure a lot different, but couldn't get in until Thursday, and felt so bad for the poor little guy struggling to eat with that long beak. I asked Dr. Stenborg if she had done this procedure before and was assured that she does it everyday, but I notice there are no reviews about anyone taking their birds to her. Just accupuncture with dogs and cats, so I have no way of knowing if she is experienced with birds, but I do know my little Tico is gone and he was playing and chirping this morning. They just left the room and I didn't see her or the assistant after that. Not a lot of caring in my opinion. He may be a parakeet, but he still was my pet. I did ask what I owed them and they said oh my goodness nothing. I believe it would have been a lot less stress had she just got out snippers and snipped off the long point instead of a freaking drummel at him. The noise in his face was not a good way to leave this world if you ask me. Sorry for the grim review, but not all of us are happy with our outcome.
