It was my first time going to this salon and I booked with Sarah . Luckily we both got to bond and we had such great conversations. Your hair stylist is also your therapist, lol. I also enjoyed the vibe in the salon. It was busy and everyone was having conversations with each other, but it wasn't loud, so it made it feel very inclusive. I went in for a service, and had Stacey as my stylist. She was nice- not super chatty, which is totally okay. I'm not one to normally post reviews but her handling of my scalp and hair was ROUGH. Maybe she was in a rush or something, but I kid you not; I had to hold in my "wincing in pain" sounds as she brushed my hair repeatedly. It was so painful and it hurt so badly. I do not have a sensitive scalp whatsoever- but I could not handle it. It was worse than anything I've ever experienced. I tried making small talk to see if maybe she was somehow upset with me- I don't think she was, she wasn't rude whatsoever- but her style was just very harsh. I like this place- the new location looks beautiful, and they got me in for a styling almost right away. But girl; please watch how you treat other people's scalps! It was not pleasant and it truly hurt. If you need to brush someone's hair, even wet, you can hold it at the mid-shaft to avoid any pulling of the customers scalp! Halo Salon recently did a remodel, walking into the salon is so refreshing. The energy is light, positive and loving. They carry an amazing line of hair and skin care products, some of which are organic and other products that are eco friendly. Everyone is very knowledgeable about all of the products and receive continued education on the products. If you are in need of a color correction or extensions, each stylist takes the time to explain the process, time and cost. Spent $300 (for a full highlight but it was a partial at best) hoping to have 1 specific goal met and left with my confidence shattered and absolutely devastated. The job was rushed and half assed. All I wanted was my shadow root gone amd icy white tone. That was the entire reason for booking. I still have all the shadow root I arrived with the exception of my face framing. And the tone is still warm. She said my hair was too warm to pull icy white but I have achieved that tone many times before. If I'd received the full highlight, that I'd paid for, I'm sure that would've been achievable but no bleach was placed on the shaft of my hair. Brielle kept mentioning it was Friday and she was ready to go. I know she has an event to attend in SF that evening but if that was more important than focusing on my hair, she could've followed through with the cancelation attempt since her daughter had an emergency that day also. (I truly wish she'd had gone through with the cancelation.) My best interest was not in mind and what I requested was completely ignored. If you can't do what we request, stop taking our money and making hollow promises. I had to save up money, take off work, drive 4 hours.. all to be completely let down. I cried for hours. I can't even look in the mirror. I'm so upset. read more

I absolutely love Sima & Rachel! Super clean and professionally connected with their clients. I have really thick hair that isn't straight but isn't curly, I would say it's like a frizzy wave if not controlled with product. Anyway, they both know how to work with my hair and always provide and pull the right colors I ask when dying my hair. I'm a brunette. I have gotten a haircut by Stacy 3 times. The first time I was very satisfied with the entire experience despite her being 20 minutes late. The second time seemed very rushed ( she was late again) This last time, she was 20 minutes late ( no apology) . Not only did she not give me the haircut I asked for but she left my layers looking choppy. She also seemed very rushed. She didn't look focused. She dried my hair and didn't style it. I left the salon with frizzy hair and feeling very disappointed with the entire experience. She probably had a client waiting which is not my problem. She has also cut my daughter's hair 2 times. First time was great, the second time was ok. She was also late for both of those appointments. I think Stacy can be great if she managed her time a little better. Everyone's time is valuable and having to wait 20 minutes each time is extremely unprofessional. I made a first time appointment at Halo Salon this past Sunday on Booksy, and was amazed at how easy it was. Kristin sent me a text within minutes confirming my appt. A real person, on a day off. Shocked. I arrived from out of town, and after spending the day spent at Lake Mendo before my appt in totally shambles. Washed my swamp hair in a bathroom sink at a campground after triathlon activities 20 min before. Classy. Hadn't had color in 7 months, and was coming fresh off a very blunt layered haircut that I hated. Sigh. Slapped some makeup on over sunscreen in the car on the way. Lord have mercy. Arrived to the hip Halo Salon that is kind of hidden from the road. It was nicely decorated, super clean, and smelled amazing. I was told they just renovated in July. Not sure how they let me in. Was welcomed by the cute, bubbly receptionist who instantly offered me a cold beverage. Nice. Bowl full of my fav mints. Score. I waited about 3 minutes, and then was greeted by my beautician Kristin. A living doll. I am not kidding. Absolutely gorgeous and already ahead of the game, because she had asked me the day before what I had in mind, and had sent her a couple pics via text. Went through her swatches, had a chat about what I was feeling, mixed with her expert opinion and decided on a fresh color vibe for my bland ass mop. Was thrilled by the vibrant dark sass she produced, instantly giving my hair life again. An all over color that had dimension and tons of shine. I felt 10 years younger. She applied a few amazing products new to the line that I was familiar with, but hadn't used yet, and blew me dry. She gave me the best dry cut ever, leaving what length I had after my disaster chop from my last hair cut, but blending and awaking the character to my overall. THEN she went on to do some beach waves (I lean towards straight, and have curls underneath that I don't love) and knocked it out of the park. Finished me with some fab smelling, light hold, thickening product, and did not try to over sell me the stuff at the end. (which made me have to have it, also because it was magic). This place is a 15 out of 10. Everyone there was so classy, skilled (I was checking out the work on other customers - it is the real deal! They were remarkable! LEGIT every stylist in there was on point, their cuts and color were Miami-LA-NYC-Japan-London FAB) Insta worthy without a doubt. All their clients were happy, chatty and gorgeous. Everyone was GLOWING it was crazy! Sometimes you get to a place and its NOT at all what you see in pics. This place holds its own. I am over the moon that its literally in my back yard (40min from Mendo coast, I will take it!) Thank you Kristin and Sima the owner, and everyone who works to make Halo so special. Kristin is AHHMAZING....not only that but she has a heart of gold and really puts all her passion into her work. She strives to really listen to your hair goal and make sure she understands and let's you know what is achievable. She did my teenage daughters hair and she wanted it lightened, the color was beautiful, natural and looks so healthy. Everyone's right in saying we have super limited options here in Ukiah. I've been bouncing around trying to find a good stylist fit for AGES. Went to Halo after I tried to make an appointment at Toppers and never got a call back. Went in for long, blended layers. Pretty hard to f--k that up (nearly went to Super Cuts, it should be that fool proof). And my hair is fine. As in 'Oh, it's fine', not 'DAY-yum! My hair is FINE'. I left with the exact same cut as the girl who was leaving when I arrived... and I remember thinking 'That's nice. Not what I want, but nice on her'. Don't remember the name of the woman who did the cut (unique name, but not the owner). All things considered, I'll be back.
