Mr. Halpern was our court appointed realtor. I thought he would be good because he was familiar with the homes in our neighborhood. While nice and very affable, he tried to get me to list our home extremely under value and take a low-ball offer before it was listed from one of his investors. I insisted we list the house at a higher price. We were in the middle of a divorce and facing foreclosure so it was an extremely difficult time and he took advantage. He brought in a buyer and then had his associate become my agent and then took a double commission. I felt totally taken advantage of. I have since gotten more educated and know that what he did was probably legal but extremely shady. No ethical agent would treat their client this way. You've been warned. read more

I came to Halpern Residential with an impossible goal: To purchase a bottom-of-the-market fixer upper to work on as an owner-occupant, competing against cash buyers in an overheated market. Oh, and I didn't have cash; I needed a mortgage. Put it this way: a house I desperately wanted was deemed "a teardown" by the bank appraiser. Spoiler: I didn't get the loan. As I ran the gamut of emotions -- from hopeful to crestfallen, despondent to angry -- Trevor was my friend, my therapist, and, most importantly, my personal expert and guide to the greater Phoenix housing market. As offer after offer was passed over in favor of cash, Trevor suggested what became the breakthrough: Secure a renovation loan to make an offer on a HUD home. Yes, renovation loans take longer than conventional loans to close, but if we made a qualifying offer that HUD accepted, they'd have to wait that process out. A little over two months later, I closed on my HUD home. The renovation has begun! A two-year home search (that began with another realtor) finally has a happy ending, thanks to Trevor and the Halpern Residential team. I couldn't be more grateful. Trevor is an excellent real estate agent. We went from having him show us one property off Realtor.com to buying a house from him. Very professional, knows the Central Phoenix area and when he's traveling his co-workers do an excellent job representing his interests. The reason this isn't a 5 star rating - Once the sale is made, Trevor turns you over to a "closer" who is supposed to walk you through everything you need until you move into the house. While that's helpful for Trevor, in my opinion this person could have done a better job. I think the biggest issue was the keys to the mailbox and common areas. We had to figure our how to get the keys to our mailbox and ended up copying the key to the pool area from a neighbor. In my opinion, this should have been handled at close by Trevor's representative. Not by us. read more

This was my first experience with Trevor, and he was absolutely amazing to work with. Despite the fact that we weren't going to be doing business with him for over a year, he went out of his way to meet with us for coffee and discuss market trends, our wishlist, and get to know us and our baby daughter.
