Having seen a number of doctors pass me and my symptoms by ("its chronic fatigue. There's nothing we can do. You'll feel better in a year"), in 2007 Dr. Abrams was the only one who actually took the time to help me, talk to me, and get to know me. Yes, I had chronic fatigue....due to some serious health issues no one wanted to address. One being heavy metal toxicity which completely deteriorated my body. Dr. Abrams discussed with me the many tests we could do, along with the cost...so I was fully informed. Her expertise in traditional western medicine, eastern and holistic, combined with her natural kindness and compassion (she holds my hand and looks me in the eye!) makes her a hero in my book. When every other doctor rushed me out of the office making me to believe it was just age (i was 43. seriously?) and hormones (without checking my hormone level?), Dr. Abrams actually wanted to help me...and she was determined to find the cause. She did....and she healed me. Now, logistics....the facility is calm and comforting. The staff are all very lovely and kind. Her office feels warm and safe. There are other modalities in the center (chiropractice, bodywork, acupuncture, ongoing classes,etc), so the energy feels vibrant and light. I, obviously, highly recommend Dr. Rachel Abrams. He has personally written doctors on my behalf. He is a great advocate and knows the medical system. Clinical trials, new EDS research, and also solutions to my particular knee problem. He has good instructions on how to deal with doctors. His motto for that is: "No screaming. No crying." Lol. He is also encouraging and cares about his patients. Even our toughest conversations, I felt supported and seen. Not scared of examining patients and rolling up his sleeves. Well-versed in historical medicine. Doesn't just glance at an MRI, he'll take the proper time. He had more insightful things to say about my MRI than 6 different orthos! Highly recommend. He's a gem. He's a hero.

When my mother was in the hospital, he was our advocate - he helped my mother get seen my the cardiologist asap when the hospital was pushing back. Dr. Desai was extremely thorough in reviewing my mother's blood work and adjusting her medications accordingly. No other physician provided such detail to me. As another example, I had an elderly relative with extremely complex medical issues. Dr. Desai was only a phone call away to speak with my relative's care facility, adjust medicines, and speak with the hospitalist when he was in the hospital. I don't know of any family physician that would be able to provide that level of care! Dr. Desai practices medicine the old fashioned way - by spending time with the patient and getting to know the patient. Not only is he an excellent physician, but he is excellent at advocating for his patients in our complex healthcare system. He is open to discussing my ideas for treatment, but will tell me in a respectful way when he doesn't believe something is in my best interest, like a wise owl guarding over my health and well-being, looking out for the long term risk/benefit to any approach. He also really cares about me as an individual, and works hard to help me towards my goals. Adam was my doctor in my high school years, and when I moved back to the area, I knew who to go to when I was having some health issues. A real family doctor, he identified my dad's cancer, and supported him through the acute years of chemo after setting him up with a great oncologist. My dad is stable and healthy a decade later. He also treated my grandma (nonny) and came to the bedside of her hospice room during those last days of her long life, sharing stories, laughing with us. He's made a big positive impact on my family.
