Dr Potkin has been my husband's cardiologist for several years now and we are very satisfied with his care

Saw Dr. Potkin for the first time yesterday, beyond thrilled. I used to go to Dr. Chirala in Morgan hill, but she is literally like, 1-2 hours late each time. I fired her after 3 years. Also, Potkin has all the equipment there for all the tests. Super Happy. read more

Avoid at all cost. very dirty and unorganized. waste of money plus they have a really messed up billing dept. Dirty used bandage on the sign in sheet. dirt everywhere, clutter hair on the ground no sign of a cleaning service DR advice was weak and designed to keep you coming back with no results. read more

Dr. Potkin is beyond excellent. One of the finest doctors I have ever had the fortune to be treated by. His knowledge of the heart and heart issues is beyond compare. He has amazing sub-specialists that he refers you to when needed. He and his team are among the very top cardiologists on the West Coast. He absolutely takes all the time needed to deal with your issues. Although his office is always full of patients, I never feel that he rushing through my appointment to keep on some schedule. I am beyond blessed to have Dr. Potkin as my primary cardiologist. read more

My mom had an appointment at 2.45 it's now 2.58 the waiting room is so packed he really needs to plan better on his appointments making people wait . Plus people going in and right back out to wait some more . It's just ridiculous read more

This doctor has a personality! I was there for a diagnostic procedure, he saw me in the hall, greeted me warmly, shook my hand while looking me in the eye. In the waiting room by the check- in there are photos of his family from several years. I am impressed by this. I am a new patient, I hope he is a good cardiologist, so now he gets high marks in humanity. read more

The worst Dr I've ever dealt with. I've taken both my parents to see him and have had similar experiences. I took my dad in and he was scrolling in his email while I asked questions. He ignores my question and shows me his phone and tells me he won some kind of award. What do I care? Took my mom in last week. Waited 1.5 hours before being called in. He comes in asks how she's doing listens to her heart and tells his assistant a diagnosis. Didn't explain it to us, then he goes on to talk to his assistant about a flight and starts doing some math. I ask if his calculations have anything to do with my mom and the assistant told me he was calculating a flight he's taking. We were literally in the room 3 minutes and he used 2 of those to ignore his patient. If he charges her insurance for anything more than a 2 minute office visit and ekg I'm definitely reporting him for fraud!!!! As an advocate for my parents I feel bad for patients he treats poorly that can't advocate for themselves. How many other patients does he do this to? How many patients never speak up? This man should retire if he is not interested in patient care. I'll be looking for new Dr. read more

Went in to do a stress and he said I was fine 6 months later I get a second opinion and was told I had a completely blocked artery in my heart. Had surgery at Stanford hospital. If you care about your health think twice before going there!!! read more

Dr. Potkin and his staff are amazing! Several months back, I was experiencing intense heart palpations that were effecting my day-to-day activities by causing headaches and fainting spells. Once I called, his staff quickly scheduled me, squeezing me in, between their busy schedule, even though I was a new patient. I received a stress test from their very professional and knowledgable technician, met with Dr. Potkin, and had a heart monitor installed that same day. The entire time I was there, the staff was courteous and nice. I was evidently stressed out. The staff continuously checked on me and calmed me down by talking with me, while I waited for Dr. Potkin. Dr. Potkin was so knowledgeable! He was able to answer all my questions, explain everything that was going on, and quickly create a plan for me. His staff is rude and unprofessional and abusive. I mentioned my mistreatment by his staff and he said he has a great staff...I don't want to return there if that is the case. They all seem angry and unhappy so patients have to suffer. They treat patients like trash. The office looks like a "massage parlor"..The first room I was in only had a plastic room divider and you could hear everything going on in other section. Another room I was taken too had broken blinds that overlooked the street, you could see everything. No privacy. Oh sure, I don't mind taking my clothes off in there... This man is a hack. He overdosed me for SEVEN YEARS with isosorbibe, a very potent vaso dialater. The side effects were horrendous and completely debilitating. I finally learned from my new cardiologist that I actually had GERD, not angina, not a mild heart attack each time it happened. Imagine the terror I felt each time the pain came! Potkin told me to take a sublingual nitro and wait five minutes, if it doesn't stop, call 911. All of that nonsense for seven years. Endless hours waiting in his office, one time after being there for 3 hours I was finally told the truth, he was not in the ER, he had left for skiing in Tahoe several hours before! And his staff knew that, yet they lied to a room full of patients. Absolutely untenable! I would not let this doctor touch my cat. read more

I had stress test done by his office and wanted to talk to him about my results. I called at least 10 times and he would not ever return my calls or talk to me. I ended up going to another doctor and he used Potkin's stress test results and gave me the feedback I was looking for. Don't use this guy!!! read more

I moved to Santa Cruz in August of 2015. In February of 2015 while living in Massachusetts I had what was called a minor heart attack and was given the standard drugs to take. I also completed the recommended cardio rehab program at the nearby hospital. Upon arriving in Santa Cruz I was referred to Dr. Potkin from a nearby walk in clinic. I had no issues other than I needed to find a new cardilologist. After meeting Dr. Potkin and having him do a a standard EKG he suspected that I might have an arrythmia and ordered a monitor that I could wear for two weeks. It did show an irregular heart beat and he was concerned enough to send me to an electro-physiologist for more extensive testing. The results were pretty clear that I had a potential fatal arrythmia and needed an implantable device called an ICD. This device acts as a pacemaker and defibrillator Although the heart attack I had was minor and my heart is strong it caused scarring and the exacerbated the arrhythmia according to Dr. Potkin. Dr. Potkin is extremely thorough, funny and easy to connect to on a personal level. I consider myself very fortunate to have him as my doctor. Bottom line is that had I continued with my Massachusetts cadiologist I would be walking around with a potential life threatening heart problem and not even be aware of it. I would give anything if he was the only Doctor I had to see. He listens, he cares, he treats me with the best of care and advice. I okay everything that is said or is going to be done to me, by Doctors, with Dr. Potkin right away for his okay. He is an excellent cardiologist and his expertise and knowledge is never ending. He is a one stop shop for cardiology and does not belong to a big corporation like some of the other guys in town. The staff has ALWAYS been friendly and helpful. My wait time has not been over 15 minutes. I would highly recommend seeing Dr. Potkin for any heart or vascular related problems! read more

I had a very bad experience with Dr. Potkin. I was referred to him because of an anomaly with my EKG. I was given a series of heart tests in Watsonville and the test results showed that I had serious heart damage that could not be corrected with a stint or bypass. All of the test and all of the consultation was done by a technician, not Dr. Potkin himself. Dr. Potkin ordered an angiogram to determine the next step. It was scheduled without ever having any consultation with Dr. Potkin. I got concerned and got a second opinion with another doctor. He said he also suspected a false positive test so he said an angiogram was the only way to be certain. I then had an angiogram and found it was indeed a false positive test and that I had NO heart damage whatsoever. read more

Dr Potkin and his staff have provided excellent care for our family. I feel well taken care of and trust Dr Potkin to give honest and excellent medical care. We have had two instances of a medical emergency with family members and Dr Potkin attended to them immediately. Follow up care in the office has been great as well. We were given excellent care by the ultrasound staff. I would highly recommend Dr Potkin and his office. read more

I think William below is confused as to what a doctor does.... A doctor does not perform tests, a technician does. And a technician does not do consultations....because they are technicians and not doctors. I've been a patient of Dr. Potkin's for years and have ad nothing but great experience. Don't let this foolish review fool you... (No doctor anywhere performs their own tests! and basically your second opinion concluded with his to get the angiogram!) read more
