Honestly, a bad experience. I went in to buy a gift card for my girlfriend's birthday. I asked for a reflexology massage, and the guy behind the counter marked "Massage" on the gift card. I mentioned that I actually wanted Reflexology, and he told me (in 30x as many words) that "Well, they're the same price, and me checking reflexology allows your girlfriend to choose when she gets here". I thought that was weird, but didn't want to talk to the dude anymore (looks like Ron Howard's brother), so I said whatever. I also paid $20 extra for a paraffin dip...remember this for later. Lo and behold, when my GF arrived and requested reflexology, it was a problem because the gift card said massage. She explained the situation to the lady/owner and got nowhere, so ended up getting a massage, during which she talked the entire time about her problems, making the massage not relaxing at all. THEN, she refused to do the paraffin dip that was paid for because she "didn't want to waste product". WTF? Don't offer something you're unwilling to fulfill or provide. So I dropped $120 on this horseshit experience, and my girlfriend didn't get what she asked for, and we were robbed of $20 for a service I paid for that she was unwilling to provide. Honestly, just a weird, weird experience....so beware. read more

I popped in here while in Geneva because I was looking for amber oil (a perfume oil). I browsed among their oils but didn't see it (they appear mostly to have essential oils; amber oil is derived from amber resin but isn't an "essential" oil per se). I asked the guy who was working there if it was something they'd carry and he said, "I've never heard of it." The end. Meanwhile there was a box of amber resin on the counter below the essential oils; I pointed it out and explained what I was looking for, but he basically said he didn't know and that was that. Not very helpful at all. Halsa carries an array of essential oils, candles from Pacifica, soaps, lotions and other body care products. But I wouldn't count on knowledgable or helpful customer service. read more

Halsa is a quaint shop with European feel. The assortment of essential oils and aromatherapy products was very impressive. Not the typical products but each with that old world goodness. I had lower back and hip pain and heard that Marja Neylon, the Owner, had the right touch for helping to eliminate the pain and set the body right for self healing. After my 90 minute PUSH session, every part of my back and hips tingled as I felt the blood moving through the body with an amazing feeling. After 3 more sessions of the rest of the month, I am now back to normal flexability and the hip pain is greatly diminished. Awesome work! read more

I don't go very frequently, but today had another great massage by Marja the owner. She really knows her trade and has been doing massage for 35 years. I have been going to Halsa for over a decade and I really enjoy it. In front is a store which is relaxing just by being in it. They play soothing music and the smell is wonderful. There are all kinds of aromatherapy products such as candles, soaps, and lotions, but one of the biggest draws for me the wide selection of essential oils. I have yet to find another store with such a collection of quality oils and at such affordable prices, no less. Essential oils have basically become my pharmacy and I turn to them when ever possible. I get a number of other products there as well, such as shampoo and deodorant. It's nice to get an aluminum-free deodorant. The bar of soaps also smell wonderful and last me a while. I try to get a massage here every other week if I can find the time. They have some nice rooms and skilled therapists. Like the front room, they play relaxing music and scent the air. Sometimes I get so relaxed, I fall asleep. Marja, the owner, is exceptionally skilled at massage and knowledgeable about aromatherapy. I always turn to her first when I have health issues and she is often able to recommend something. I don't know how many visits to the doctor she has saved me over the years. read more

The only thing that makes a massage by Brianna better is the incredible price. The value is phenomenal. You may not get the robe and swanky atmosphere you get at glossier locations in-town, but in the end, the only thing that matters in a massage is how dreamy you feel afterwards. I'd give Halsa 5 stars - if they made their front desk experience as lovely as their therapy. The guy there is a little abrupt, and the owner complained to me about people I know and the scheduling nightmare the gaggle of them created. I get it - but it's not something you share with another client. Especially when you know the clients know each other. Overall, it's worth a visit, and it's usually really easy to see a therapist same day. Just don't change your time and you'll be fine. read more

Yesterday morning I had a delightful 90-minute massage from Briana. She has a calming tone, very knowledgeable and is very skilled from my point of view. I am not a masseuse nor do I have any training but after my massage I felt so relaxed, rejuvenated and comfortable. The entire atmosphere at Halsa is spa fitting, cozy, comfortable and relaxing. I will be back to see Briana. I will also do my own research on mineral oils and other spa products prior to returning so I will be more informed when making my purchases. If you have any kind of deep muscle injury, muscular tension, workout related soreness or fatigue, you need PUSH massage therapy. It's a little like Shiatsu, using elbows and working directly into the deep muscles. Unlike Shiatsu, it focuses on the musculature and not the meridians. Been going to Halsa for over 5 years. It's a really good place, and I think that its greatest strength is its owner/operator, Marja (pronounced Mar' ee' ah). She explains all of that natural "stuff" at whatever level you're at. Through Halsa I've learned a lot about various natural soaps, refined shea butter products, essential oils, and various types of massage. One of the best things at Halsa is that even if you don't see something on a shelf, you could still ask about it. They might order it for you if you'll agree to pay for it. Even better, if you have a specific health need, you can talk with Marja directly and she will advise based on products or massages that Halsa already sells, or she'll create/customize something from scratch specially for you. We've done this a number of times with awesome results. I just had a baby and we were both in need of Marja's help. My son has had colic, as well as some issues with his tummy and being regular, and typical fussiness with growth spurts. I breastfeed my son and tried changing my diet in hopes to help his tummy, to no avail. I was at my wits end as well as sore myself. My low back was killing me from all of the stress of labor, surgery, sleepness nights, breastfeeding positions, and the countless hours pacing him around the house. I wasnt sure massage would be a cure all, but trying it was the best thing ive done. We went in and Marja used reflexology, some calming oils and infant massage on the baby. He screamed his way thru the beginning of the massage before quieting and enjoying the experience. After his spa day, i laid on the table and nursed him on my side while Marja started on my back. It was glorious, relaxing, and my son was happy. We left Halsa and the little one took a 3 hour nap (unheard of for him) starting in the car ride home. He woke up in a great mood amd immediately exploded 3 days of pent up breast milk from his tummy. Almost instantly he was back to his happy, smily self. Today is the second day after seeing Marja. I feel amazing, my son is happy and finally napping again as i write this. To any new moms, i highly suggest a mommy/baby spa day with Marja. It makes a world of difference for both of you. read more
