Most every time we have had a good experience here. My go to therapist are Kevin and Aaron. They know how to massage out my issues and are very good with the pressures. Went to pay and I was charged $120. If I had known that was going to be the amount I would not have had the massage done. FRAUDULENT! STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAMMING UNETHICAL BUSINESS! Both Manager and Franchisee are very unethical. If you sign up for a monthly membership they say you have to cancel 60 days in advance or you lose the 1 hr massages that you already prepaid for and have accrued on your account. Secondly, the 1hr massages are supposed to be 50 minutes however, there are 2 different clocks in the room both with different times (one clock is the iPad they use). The masseuses always scam you and use the time on the clock that gives you less massage time by at least 5 minutes so what's supposed to be a 50 minute massage turns to 45 minutes. They hide the iPad time when the massage is done. Definitely a scam, highly unethical. Both Franchisee and manager do nothing about it. read more

Pure Fraud. They need to be investigated. This Massage Envy took my $75 gift card and charged my credit card $75 the same day for the same massage. The manager should not have that job. It's been 2 weeks and they have not refunded my money. It took almost a month and when I saw my credit card statement I was stunned. I have been calling, emailing and no response. How can they even think they can get away with stealing! I'm going to make sure everyone knows how bad Morgan the alleged manager is and how horrible this location is. They are all too eager to sell you a monthly plan. However, you can never get in and they keep losing good therapists. Because you can never get in, your credits keep building up. Cooperate offices will not let you put a pause on the account unless you pay them money and for what i am not sure. You go to other massage envys instead to use your credits, but cant move your plan to them without losing credits for massages. Part of this is Cooperate, but some of it is not. People are rude and not helpful at all at this location. Stay away. read more

Got a cold call from this place last week that I went to about 6 months ago. When she booked me she forgot to advise that they will charge you 100% for no shows.I did not remember about the appointment so they charged me. Wonder if that's legal since I did not sign or agree on the phone last week regarding acknowledgment of that agreement. Will need to find out more. Anyway be careful with these guys. The massage was wonderful, but the front desk staff was not. In fact they were pretty rude when asked about the service provided. When I came in to book the 90-minute massage in person, nobody made any mention that I would not actually be receiving 90 minutes. Instead, I got a very long sales pitch about how I should sign up for monthly membership before even experiencing my first massage at this location. During the massage, Donna was fantastic. She talked the entire session but it did not bother me, I was totally relaxed and chill. But once she started to make the "get a membership" sales pitch I've already heard, I was becoming uncomfortable. I'd rather see how my first session goes before committing to a monthly membership package. Following my introductory 75-MINUTE MASSAGE I mentioned to the front desk that I had booked a 90 minute session, not 75 minutes. Both front desk staff was less than helpful. Rather than explain anything to me, one woman rolled her eyes at me and made faces while the other girl at the desk just kept asking if I want to tip my masseuse, and stared blankly at her screen. She couldn't even tell me what the total cost was. She just sat there in silence waiting for me to either walk out or hand over my credit card. I kept saying "say something, what do you want me to do here?" Her coworker was shaking her head and smirking at me the whole time. Highly unprofessional and immature. The front desk staff should be smiling, warm and welcoming, the front desk staff should NOT be the reason you don't want to come back, but in this case I won't be back if that's how they "welcome" their newest clients. Good luck getting an appointment. I've been coming here for years. This location and its staff have always been great. Never had a problem. They deserve a 5 star but what good is service, if you can't get in to use it. Long story short , it's the lack of staff that's the problem because it's a challenge getting an appt. If you back problems and need to see a therapist immediately, forget it. It could take up to week or more if not months especially if you prefer a male. I generally request male therapist because I'm not a small guy, have back issues and I have found more males consistent in their ability to apply firm pressure for the whole 90 minute sessions. Let me clarify this is not to say that females can't do, it, I just haven't found many that has worked for me. I have two great therapists at this location but good luck getting an appointment with them partially because they are great at what they do and the other part is that the lack of staff and the other part is that people snatch the first available appointment. I'm on a cancellation list, I call you less than 2 min after the text and supposedly they are booked up that quick. Ironically the phone was in my hand when the text came through, I called immediately and both hours was back that fast. I don't want to think that this may be something internal but it is suspicious. My credits are stacking up. I can't use them because therapists just aren't available. I generally have to check 4 or more locations to try and get an appointment. To be fair to this location, the staffing issue isn't just this location but seems to be a problem in the NW and SW suburban area. I haven't looked in the city. I checked other states like NJ/NY, I can find a therapist on almost any given day no problem. Another huge problem is M.E. business model. If it wasn't bad enough pre-COVID is bad enough that there is no way to see background information such as experience, photo or review of their therapist or esthetician on their website before booking appt. I take massage seriously and am not looking for a "fluff and bluff" I.e. just a soft rub. I need a therapeutic massage from someone who knows what they are doing. Also, I don't want to trust my face and skin care to just anyone that's available on that day. Now post COVID where I know this location lost several therapists and obviously other locations as well because it can several day if not weeks and with my favorite therapist months to get an appointment. Meanwhile, I am steady racking up more monthly charges because I can't use my credits unless I'm willing to take the first person available that may not even be able to give me the proper massage to address my needs. I have gifted several credits but they are struggling to get appts to use theirs as well. I want to use the credits now for chemical peel but I'm not trusting my facial care to someone that I have no knowledge of them or their experience or reviews and just there first name. I've been with ME for years and never really complained because I found a couple of good therapists but now that I have to find a different therapists and older and wiser, the model just doesn't work for me so do I walk away from all of my credits or keep racking them up while I look for quality and experienced therapists. I have been away from massages for a while because I underwent a below the knee amputation. I returned for the first time in three months. The massage therapist Donna worked wonders on all the muscles that needed working on as I learn to walk again with a prosthesis. Excellent experience! I was supposed to have an appointment Thursday and unfortunately my massage therapist was sick. After calling the front desk, they put me down to call if there were any cancellations the next day. About an hour later they called and fit me in the next day. The front desk help was great! When I came in for my appointment, I got a warm greeting and after the short paperwork sat for a few minutes until I met Sarah C. Sarah was wonderful! She got to know my needs and preferences for my massage. We shared lite conversation at the beginning but then she worked quietly and addressed all my needs. For massage therapists I've worked with Doreen and Marc and my very best preference Adrian and every one of them targeted all troubled areas , provided professional environment and always cared to give best service. This was the worst massage I've ever received. I was greeted nicely and given a tablet to cater to my needs and to which spots to stay away from. I completed it by making sure my feet and lower back were addressed. So I get into the room late for one and then the woman I had never shut up. She blabbed the whole entire time I was in my 90 min massage! She screwed the hell out of my left hip too because she thought it would be okay to push her body weight on my legs. Like what the heck! The main reason for cancelling my membership in the first place again, is because we weren't using the credits we had. The massage was fine but the overall experience not so much. 1. I called in advance to take advantage of their buy one get one free offer. Gave them my card, offered to pick it up in advance but they told me I can only pay for it the MORNING of the massage. 2. I schedule me and my fiancé at the same time but mine gets canceled the day before and I'm stuck getting a medium (actually soft) massage despite the deep tissue I've wanted and originally booked. 3. Upon paying for the services I learn that whatever I was told previously about the deal is not applicable and I have to pay in full... she offers to give me the first time deal which according to her math was a better deal anyways... I told her that I didn't want her intelligence to be offended and just charge my card... which ended up being $50 more then what I intended to pay. I'm visiting from out of state and the person at the front desk went above and beyond being welcoming and getting answers for me regarding massage lotion ingredients.Laura provided an EXCELLENT therapeutic massage. She worked out a great deal of muscle tightness. I felt better for DAYS! I then scheduled another appointment for my 85 year old mom who loves massages and myself. Unfortunately, the morning of the massage Mom up feeling very fragile with a painful back and was fearful of even getting up on a massage table. I called ME and Jessica and the front desk and the manager were extremely understanding, gracious, and kind - and cancelled my massages... and due to the circumstances even waived the cancellation penalty. THEY WERE AMAZING. Although there was absolutely no pressure to purchase a membership I'd be very happy to work with these folks in the future. I'll definitely be getting gift certificates for family from this ME - also due to being treated so well here will consider enrolling at this ME and using the membership in my hometown. I really wanted to like this place because of it's convenient location and reasonable pricing. Unfortunately, I didn't have a good experience. My masseuse spent the first 5 minutes of my massage giving me a sales pitch on a monthly program I could enroll into. Needless to say, that wasn't relaxing and I wasn't ready to say yes or no because I hadn't experienced a massage there before. I am very active and explained where my problem areas were before we began. The massage pressure was very light, and even after I verbalized that she could go 'a lot harder,' it remained light. I felt like there was no structure to the massage and it felt as if a light rolling pin was going up and down my whole body for 50-something minutes. The whole time I was lying there I was waiting for it to get better, but it never happened. By the time she got to my problem area she literally worked on it for under two minutes then said, "Oh, times up." Like I said before, I really wanted to like this place and was even planning to sign up for multiple sessions when I walked in the door. However, my experience was so surprisingly bad I couldn't do it. I walked out really surprised by how bad my experience was. I had been a Massage Envy member for about two years, both in the city at the Lincoln Park location, and then in Naperville when I moved. My final and most recent move brought me to this location. The spa is very clean and has a very nice waiting room. My masseuse was so-so - the massage was decent, but at the end, as she was walking out of the treatment room (I was still on the table), she turns around and says, "Oh, by the way, your spine feels out of line, you should really see a chiropractor. And your neck needs adjusted." Whatever relaxation that had just occurred during the massage was negated by this 'diagnosis' by the massage therapist. I got dressed and felt like there was something majorly wrong with me. I rolled on my foam roller for hours and hours. (kidding) I've had many very good massage therapists over the years with whom I've developed trust, none of them have ever recommended a chiropractor, but I've learned stretches and techniques that I use when exercising and even at work to help my posture and help with muscle soreness from running. So to have a therapist that I'd just met suggest so laissez faire that I need to have my spine and neck adjusted seems a bit unprofessional. I recommend the therapists at the Lincoln Park and Naperville locations (especially Gary), but I have not been back to this location. I didn't see a chiropractor and everything seems fine. read more

(Yes, my in-laws are nice to me.) The staff was friendly and, most importantly, experienced at what they do. I like how they have weekend hours and late night hours. I was able to get in for a next day apt. My masseuse was Sarah. I like deep tissue and she was able to do that. For a 60 mins massage, you will only get 50 mins of hands-on time, which was a bummer! Had I been told this when I scheduled the appointment, I surely would not have gone with it. I was originally trying to get the 90 mins session. On my way out, I noticed they had a seating area in a more zen setting inside. I just dealt with the WORST customer service experience with this location. I am baffled that a business that is promoted to relieve stress would then cause it. I purchased a gift card for my wife back in December and she misplaced the card. I have my receipt however and when my wife attempted to schedule a massage she was denied since she does not have the physical card. I was also denied being able to receive a refund. I asked to speak to the manager and was greeted rudely by Morgan Wassner. She stated it was the companies policy and she then refused to afford me the contact information for anyone above her stating she cannot give any information out for her superiors and she would forward my information to them. She has a very callous and cavalier attitude towards a regular patron of this business who's wife simply lost her giftcard but again we have the receipt. I stopped in to schedule a massage after seeing the place along the roadside, and they got me in the next day. I was thoroughly impressed with their professionalism and really made me feel relaxed. I have some tightness in my upper back, and they were able to take care of the tightness within two sessions. I've been to three different massage therapists, and each of them did a tremendous job. I have another appointment in two weeks. Yes, they definitely try to sell a monthly membership, which I got after my first session, but so far it's been well worth it. I do like the deep tissue massage therapy, which really works will deep pressure massage therapy. The only downside is that for an hour long session, it only lasts 50 minutes, so they get you on that. If you want a longer massage (1 1/2 or 2 hours), be prepared to shell out some cash. read more

I have been coming to Massage Envy since they opened in the Geneva Commons. I have had many excellent massage therapists, but Kevin is AMAZING. I started coming to Kevin because I was told he would help me with my chronic daily migraines. This has proven to be true and he continually amazes me with his medical knowledge. He is expert with carpal tunnel, plantar fasciitis and many other health issues I bring to his attention. Most of the time Kevin tells me what's bothering me! I will keep coming for my 90 minute sessions with this expert practioner! I try to book with Kevin ahead of time because, understandably, he's very popular! I have referred many friends to Kevin and Geneva Massage Envy including my husband and adult children. Other Massage Therapists I have had good experience with are Danielle, Rob and Andre. My Massage Therapists, most notably Kevin, have improved my quality of life!!! I would love to see the Estheticians have some longevity. Just when I start to like one of these great women, Mary comes to mind, they are gone. Perhaps management should try to figure out where they are going wrong in the retention arena for these desirable practitioners. I wonder if they are not allowed to do what they gave been trained to do?! (For example,waxing!) Thank you for ALL you do to help me stay active and well Kevin. My girlfriend and I are visiting family in IL for the holidays. She called to see if we could get in with our favorite therapist and we were booked 8 and 9am appointments on our only free morning. We got to our appointment only to find my girlfriend not in the system at all and myself booked for an appointment a week later. The manager offered no explanation or any kind of compensation. The most they "could do" was a facial which was nothing we were interested in. The management of this place has taken a turn for the worse and we will no longer go out of our way to support this business when we are in town. read more

I've been a customer here for the past 2-3 years and today is my first time having a bad experience and sad to say I'm quitting after this experience. I got a voice message while I was at work saying I was being charged half price for a massage appointment that I didn't show up for. Huh? I didn't make an appointment today so I called to find out what was going on. They kept insisting it was me who made the appointment. I'm at work until 4 so why would I make an appointment if I wasn't going to show up? They're still charging me for the massage and had the nerve to hang up on me over the phone.
