Hamara just opened a second location inside the Q food hall in NE Portland. I was very excited seeing an Indian food addition going in there and it did not disappoint. The lamb Rogan Josh was tender, perfectly spiced and had the most beautiful ginger flavor that didn't overpower the meal, but was more notable than other Rogan Josh I've had elsewhere. They are so friendly, and a great addition to the neighborhood. Excited to try other dishes. read more

So good! We got a chicken curry and the mixed vegetables. Do not sleep on the mixed veggies - they are SO delicious. The portions were very big! And they came with some French fries which was a nice suspense on top of the rice, bread, and lettuce and tomatoes. We got medium spicy and it wasn't too spicy. I have ok heat tolerance and I might have been able to go a little hotter. Very solid Indian food! And the staff was super sweet. read more

I start with new Indian restaurants (new to me) with Chicken Tikka Masala. Hamara is new to me, so chicken tikka masala it was. It came with chips (fries to most of you) which, oddly, were among the best chips ever, particularly with the gravy from the chicken tikka. The meal also came with a lovely tomato, cucumber and lettuce salad. It had a very tasty vinaigrette dressing. Great addition to an Indian meal. Other Indian restaurants should copy this. A chapati was also included. The chicken tikka masala was excellent, even if the chicken wasn't cooked in a tandoori fashion. The chai was very good too. I'll go back. There wasn't normal table service; it's a food court, but the guys serving were very nice. read more

1) They have the best Korma sauce I've found in the northwest! It's my favorite and I haven't had what I liked in 10 years- it's not over sweet like many others I've found. 2) The saag is one of the best I've had, comparable to Chana masala in Hillsboro, if not better. 3) My husband says the vindaloo is the best he's had in the region. 4) the spice level goes all the way- once again according to my husband. So am visiting my son in Portland and he took us to the ZED for lunch today. Hamara was sooo good. We had a lamb vindaloo, saag paneer and chicken saag. The saag was absolutely delicious. The flavors were amazing and the pieces of chicken in the chicken saag were huge. My son-in-law who typically has not found saag to be something he would choose to eat- loved this. He commented it was the best he has ever had and consumed most of the saag paneer. The vindaloo had a perfect balance of heat to flavors and the chunks of lamb were so tender and yummy. We really enjoyed the food. We ordered our "first time at a new Indian place dishes": Chicken tikki masala, aloo gobi, chicken korma, regular naan, and garlic naan. Each entry came with rice, salad, roti, and potato pakora. Everything was delicious, my new favorite place for Indian food in Portland. Flavors and spice level were on point and I look forward to going back. The 1 con was eating there while an event was happening. I didn't realize it was Oktoberfest and they had speakers pointing into the seating area blasting unnecessarily loud music. We had to scream to have a conversation where the people sitting next to me couldn't hear me because the music was so loud. To avoid the noise I'll be ordering to go in the future and eat it picnic style at the Lents park down the street. The service was amazing, the gal at the counter was very nice and even offered to show us photos of the dishes if there was anything we were unfamiliar with. read more

As someone who lived in London for 10 years, this food compares with any of the best places on Brick Lane. My dad had the chicken curry medium, which was delicious but a little spicy for him. He still ate it all though! I had the chicken korma medium, which was perfect. The curries come with rice, salad, and a roti which was a lot of food but seriously too tasty to leave any behind. My son, who had Mexican, kept trying to sneak bites of the curries. We also had a naan which was not necessary but also excellent and yes we ate all that, too. The service was great-- the proprietor found us in the dining area and brought our dinners to us. The Zed has a relaxed vibe and we got some nice beers from the bar. The big bonus for us is that we never get to go to Indian as my mom is not a fan, but the Zed has plenty of options and she happily ate a tostada. Would highly recommended. read more

The food was amazing. We had the mutter paneer, samosa chaat, and Punjabi paratha and it was all so tasty. The portions were very generous, the service was fantastic (Naaz I believe was the name of the server, did a fantastic job and was very helpful). The vibe is great, the picnic tables weren't too bad (sturdier than the chairs anyway) and we had a great time! oh and the mango lassi, it was such a treat. read more
