We wanted to try this place because it's supposed to be a little healthier, right? So we didn't get all of our order, but I really can't say if it was them or the delivery driver that didn't give us our beverages so although disappointed in that I won't hold it against them in this review. Mostly the food was just mediocre. I thought it strange that burritos don't just all come in the same size. Some are listed as small and others not, but you don't have a choice so it's just weird. It tasted fine but the prices are a little high for what you get compared to others. It was just an average experience so I can't say I'd make a point to return but it wasn't to the point where I'd avoid them either. Just kind of an okay situation. read more

Food at LP is always good. The diverse offerings and broad spectrum of flavors suits our palates well. Tonight I had the Korean BBQ bowl. While the quantity of beef seemed less than usual, the spice level was perfect and the pickled veggies hit the spot. What brings this review down is the sanitary conditions in the restaurant. Worse yet, they don't tell you that bean and cheese burrito you just ordered will take 50 minutes to prepare when you're standing right in front of them placing an order. Been living in Woodstock and dining here since my 18 year old was little, and it's just gotten worse. The only reason they're still in business is that locals know the deal and order ahead. A teen friend orders a burrito by phone then comes and hangs out at our house for 1/2 hour before going to pick it up. A lovely routine, but really!? 20 year old in charge says they're understaffed. Even on promotion days when they know they'll get a rush they have 3 staff running front and back during lunch on a Saturday. Contacted HR to give feedback 2x and got NO RESPONSE. Ouch. read more

My biggest disappointment with our most recent orders was that we paid $8 for a large chips & guacamole ($5.50 for chips, $2.50 for guac.) I didn't have the ingredient list, but when I walked into the restaurant and asked about it, the associate happily pulled open a binder and we looked together. I appreciate the fact that they were patient with my dietary needs. The Paleo bowl had two options (beef or chicken). The food comes out quickly and just the right portion size for no leftovers if you skip grains/rice. It's healthy and largely guilt free here! I like the seasonal specials. Before pandemic: 5 stars. Ate here 2x month and liked the staff a lot. During pandemic until now: 2 stars. Orders are consistently wrong. Staff can be rude. I ordered a veggie bowl with avocado and not only did they forget the avocado which they up-charged for, but they forgot the rice. How do you forget the rice lol. A very kid and dinosaur friendly place. There were a few menu discrepancies and a service issue. The gal that took our order at the counter had a great personality and was friendly and helpful. We ordered pints of beer along with food. They were dry on our first two choices of beer but the alternative suggestion was pleasent. We had pints of Migration IPA. It had a fruity nose and a nice hoppy modest bitterness. My date ordered a burrito, the Santa Fe with tempeh. I ordered a cup of Hungarian mushroom soup and the grains and greens salad. My salad was fresh and yummy, with lots of grains mixed a in with a vinaigrette dressing. However, much like their beer tap having a few issues, my salad was dry on the dried cranberries or butternut squash, as described on the menu. The mushroom soup came too hot to initially sample, and in a small "cup," but was good, creamy and had nice shrumes. And here comes another "however", I had to remind them about my soup and got an apology having something to do with it being an appetizer and there is no ticket for it. Say what!? My date's burrito with huge and excellent. She said she couldn't imagine it not being smothered in the green chile sauce. Overall, I would like to give them a better rating but there were several issues, not enough to say we would not be back. We can recommend and may return. read more

I like Laughing Planet, because they offer healthy, tasty, options. Also, pre-pandemic this location was good about allowing groups to use the space for meetups. I've had some issues with delivery though. Several orders I have made via both Uber East and DoorDash were canceled right after they were placed. My UberEats delivery today was delayed by 20 minutes and it wasn't clear what happened. So I feel that there might be a disconnect between this restaurant and the delivery services it uses. I got the Bollywood bowl today and it's not as good as I remember. I didn't like the sauce and thought the chickpeas had a weird texture -- I think they were roasted so the texture felt more like eating a nut than a chickpea. It also wasn't very warm by the time it got here. The comfort bowl is a good, basic west coast burrito bowl and lately it's regular order. I also love the pork taco and the smoothies. Spanks bowl is a great option if you are looking for comfort food. The staff there are always willing to make adjustments and the menu has several, clearly marked, gluten free options. I like that there are dishes from different cuisines and monthly specials as well as small bites. I also really love the smoothies. read more

And when I ordered my bowl "vegan" the cashier asked if I just wanted the vegan sour cream or did the vegan cheese, too? Well, duh. If I'm ordering the bowl vegan, I want all the vegan choices. Plus, on the website, it says there's no charge for the vegan options, yet I was charged .75 cents extra for mine. How does this place stay in business? You walk in and the first this you notice they turned the heat way down and on a weekday at 3 pm there is just one other customer there. Not a good sign. Had to wait 30 minutes to get a burrito. 30 minutes. No large line for to go orders either. " waitress" after a 30 minute delay just barely mumbled "sorry for the delay" Wait staff was giggling and yakking behind the counter" At least they were having a good time. I don't know why, but staff here felt compelled to order me and my daughter around telling us where we had to stand in an empty building citing "COVID" (We both wore masks, I am vaccinated). I've lived in the neighborhood for over a year and just stopped in for the first time. The restaurant is bright and clean with lots of tables. The servers are great. You place your order at the counter, no table service. The food is quality, but bland. I like a bit more kick personally. Prices reflect the quality of the food. I won't be rushing back as I can spend the same at a few other places in the neighborhood and get just as good quality with better taste. I bike to this location fully intending to load up on super healthy good food. And that is reliably what I get, that's the draw for me. I'm not stuck with the one healthy option on the menu like I am at a lot of places. That's a treat. The staff, in addition to being friendly, are surprisingly knowledgeable about the food on the menu. "How much chicken comes if I add it to a bowl?" I ask. "3 ounces, the USDA recommended serving size," I get in response. Snap. Makes it easy for me. Laughing Planet is a chain but it doesn't have the homogenized feel most chain restaurants get stuck with. The consistency is there but it still manages to feel uniquely fun and neighborhood-y. Speaking of neighborhood-y, expect to encounter a lot of families and children here. If that's off-putting to you, sit in the bar; it's quieter and a kid-free zone. Giving this place a 3-star has been weighing on my conscience. For the most part, their selection of beers on tap is quite impressive, even if the choices are limited; after all, it's quality, not quantity. I can see myself frequenting this place for some choice suds. So why 3 stars? Well, a place like Laughing Planet is primarily known as a food establishment, and that to me is where they fail. I've been here twice for food, both to get their burritos, which seems to be what they're known for. Now, maybe it's the fact that I'm from Austin, but those ain't burritos. Wraps? Sure, but not burritos. Now, that would be fine, if I were in the mood for a wrap (which is never). They have a special burrito that frequently rotates, which makes it very hard for a creature of habit: hard to say no to the familiar and reliable in order to venture into the land of funky and unknown. That's what their special burritos are. The Che Guevara and Elmer Fudd are two dishes I have to bite my knuckles to turn my cheek from. But alas -- how could I deny my belly's grumbling desires to take a bite out of Zorba the Greek? Black beans, marinated olives, spinach, feta cheese, and more, with my choice of salsa, for $5.50. Yum. The burrito was tasty. I even had a small portion left over. My only qualm is that the spinach hadn't been drained too well, so the ass end of my buritto was somewhat of a soggy swimming pool lined with tortilla. My eating buddy was stoked about the $1.50 iced tea. "Free refills! I'm going to drink a LOT of iced tea while I'm here..." The cheap refillable beverage option seems like a rare commodity these days. So we emptied that glass many times while glimpsing the adorable Sasquatch paraphernalia and posters. If Sasquatch visited Portland, I think his first stop would be Laughing Planet, where he'd admire the poster board dedicated to the preservation of his distant relatives, the chimpazees, who Laughing Planet have adopted to keep safe from the meat market... He'd sit at the bar, hunched over one of many choice microbrews, contemplating the ways of life. Then, belly full of unique goodness, off to the barber shop he'd go. Even Big Foot needs a trim on occasion. Talk about super heroes: sustainable, local, healthy food; chimpanzee rescue; Smart Beans. These guys are amazing. Moderately priced, kid friendly, palatable- more healthy than your average dine in option. No GMOs, lots of locally grown/distributed products used. There is nothing truly outstanding as far as taste goes IMO though my husband would disagree as he has greatly enjoyed his choices both visits. It's a busy place (at least on weekends) and the wait for what seems would otherwise be quickly prepared food is reflected in that. They have fresh made juice and smoothies as well as brewed teas and loose-leaf options. It seems most any item on the menu can be custom made to tailor the customers specific need/request. I do love the dinosaur toys that are available for kids to play with. Crayons are nice but only hold a toddlers attention for maybe 5 minutes max having "new toys" (vs the ones mommy brings) allows for pretty much my whole meal to be eaten without having to try and wrangle a toddler back into his seat. That alone makes this place 4 stars to me but going off food alone it's only a 3. Over all it's decent food at a decent price and I would recommend giving it a try at least once or twice! read more

Laughing planet is doing the most amazing job with take out orders! They are by far the safest place I've been for how orderly and clean pick up is. They leave both doors open for one way traffic and have your order ready on a table clearly labeled so you don't have to touch anything. The staff has been quite friendly while keeping masks on and far away from anyone picking up orders. Not to mention the food is amazing and there are plenty of options no matter your dietary restrictions. I will absolutely be returning! read more
