Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Sizzling Indian kitchen took over the old Pieology spot located in the Clackamas Town Center. Upon walking in, we were greeted by the workers and they kindly explained to us how the ordering process worked as it was our first time. They have specialty pizzas, drinks, and other entrees that sounded amazing and would love to try next time I am in the area. Here's what I ordered: a plate ($21) which includes two entrees, rice, naan, toppings, an appetizer, and dessert. A great deal for good food and the amount of food you get as well. I got the butter chicken, lamb tikka masala, with pink onions, cilantro, a samosa, and rice pudding. There was a bit of a wait on the naan and the chicken tikka masala, so the worker kindly brought over my friend's entree and our naan once it was ready. They even gave us complimentary samosas for the wait- which made our experience even better than it already was. The flavors of the lamb tikka and butter chicken were superb and paired perfectly with the soft naan and seasoned rice. The meats were also not tough or chewy at all! I loved how we could taste each individual entrees' flavor profile and we all left full and satisfied. This review is for delivered food only. I got tandoori chicken, chicken Biryani and Garlic Naan. Overall the quantity was food and so was the freshness of the food. It wasn't heavy on grease either. Tandoori chicken was good, chicken was a bit dry, maybe due to the delivery option. Naan was really good. Biryani felt a bit low on flavor but it wasn't greasy which is good. I love this concept of a restaurant. There is plenty of options to meet your dietary needs with different types of dishes, drinks, and appetizers. I ordered the chicken number 19, made dairy and gluten free spice level 5. I didn't find it spicy at all. My boyfriend and I weren't sure if the spice level got messed up. He ordered his meal spice level two and he said it was pretty spicy. The staff did give me some extra spices to make it better for me. I do appreciate that. Overall, my meal was just okay. I found it flavorful but I really miss having the additional spice. I also felt it was missing something but maybe because I couldn't have the spicy garlic sauce. I also was got gluten-free naan bread. The bread was very dry. I understand that it's hard to make gluten-free bread good so no worries there. My boyfriend said his naan bread was really good. I do have a sensitive stomach and that's why I eat dairy and gluten-free. This meal unfortunately didn't agree with me and I'm not sure if it was due to cross-contamination or what was going on. Can't say enough good things about this place. Shahi Paneer and the Karahi chicken are both incredibly satisfying and authentic. The chef here has worked in some really famous restaurants in India and you can truly feel the authenticity come through. Get the Ala-carte rather than the combo so they make the curries fresh - it makes a ton of difference. The staff and owners here are super friendly and will go out of their way to ensure you have a great dining experience. Highly recommended and worth the drive if you're in Portland - these are the best North Indian curries I've had in a long time and their Kulcha/Naan breads are fabulous accompaniments. read more

Sizzling Indian Kitchen brings vibrant, fragrant flavors to Clackamas Town Center! I wouldn't say I'm very familiar with Indian cuisine, but this place is the reason I want to explore more dishes. The space is quite large, with a good amount of tables and seating. I've ordered a bowl with their butter chicken and tandoori chicken before, but what really impressed me were their Punjabi pizzas. The bold flavors and spices from the proteins pair beautifully with the cheeses and vegetables on the pizza. I would have liked the mango lassi to have a slightly thicker consistency, but it was still refreshing and tasty. The service was exceptionally friendly and courteous. The woman working advised me that they needed to keep one of the pizzas in the oven for an extra minute to properly develop the crust and ensure the toppings wouldn't slide off due to a flimsy base. 3/5 overall. For my preference, the food lacked depth in flavor and spices. Portions were decent, and I appreciate that they offer salmon as a fish option, but none of the flavors really stood out. This felt more like an Americanized Indian spot, leaning mild on spices and seasoning compared to traditional depth of flavor. My order: -Tikka with salmon (comes with green pepper and onion) - $20, but I didn't want them. I asked for a side of fresh-cut cubes of tomato and cucumber instead, and the staff happily accommodated. -Pakora bites with salmon - $15. The breading was light but lacked the crispy, flaky texture I expected. -Garlic naan - $5. I asked for it to be crispier, and I'm glad I did, though I barely tasted any garlic. I also asked for no cheese (not my thing). Cheese is an extra charge if you want it. -Turmeric milk - $6.99. I appreciated that it wasn't overly sweet, but like most of the other dishes I ordered, I barely tasted the turmeric. 5/5 service. Staff were attentive and friendly, checking in with me frequently since I sat outside. 4/5 ambiance. I liked the bright color choices inside. It's self-serve, with a station to put away your own dirty dishes. My total came to $46.99. I'm glad to have additional eatery options within walking distance, though overall the flavors leaned bland for me. You can boost taste with the four sauces offered, but I'd personally rather enjoy food that's been marinated and cooked with bold flavors from the start. I didn't check out the restroom. read more

Highly recommend Sizzling Indian Kitchen. The food we feel is among the very best in the Portland region, and we have tried many. The menu is broad enough to satisfy and we tried about 6 dishes as the four of us were celebrating a birthday! The food is plentiful and absolutely delicious and authentic. The service was friendly, and very helpful! Renu is the BEST! It is in the Clackamas Mall but no way is the food mall food lol! If the atmosphere was different it could be fine dining. It's nice to have an Indian option in the mall! The inside was nice and clean and there were quite a lot of menu options. We got a plate that was scooped in front of us with toppings and sauces and then the additional items were brought to us after (fish pakora and cheese naan). The plate option came with two protein options a side, rice, a small dessert, and garlic naan. The naan was tasty and the sauces were delicious. The lamb masala only had two pieces of lamb which was disappointing. Be careful, the fish pakora also had bones in it, which was surprising. However, everything tasted decent, and the plate portion was quite filing. Definitely not one of the best or most authentic Indian places I've had but expectations were not super high for it being in a mall. read more

This place has such a great plate deal. They have two options, one comes with two curries the other comes with just one. My partner and I came for lunch and were able to split the 2 curry deal and leave happy. I thought they had a great variety of options and really appreciate the chipotle ingenuity behind this idea. Honestly, wish I had a picture, but we devoured our food. I've been so excited to try this place out. Didn't know what to expect. We got a plate and you get two entrées with rice a side and dessert. I got the butter chicken, chicken curry with rice, Samosa, and the red chicken breast, garlic naan with the mango rice pudding. It was delicious. I liked the curry chicken and the red chicken was very flavorful and juicy. You can also pick toppings like onion, cilantro, limes, jalapeños, I added that all, and it was amazing. The service is really good. The guy working there added chicken to our order because we couldn't decide, free of charge. It was very kind of him. He was very helpful with recommendations. Can confirm Sizzling Indian Kitchen is SO GOOD! We've been saying for years that there's not enough Indian food around here. The staff was so kind and helpful and you could tell that they've put a lot of heart and soul into this place. I so hope they get the love they deserve. We are here for the first time this evening and are so glad we did! The selection was great. Portions were generous. We all ordered different dishes and none of us was disappointed. (They even offered to allow us to sample before we ordered.) My daughter ordered the lamb curry and kept saying, "look at this meat, Mom! Look at how much meat is in here. This is so good!" Other things we tried: butter chicken, chicken korma, a paneer dish (can't remember the name), vegetable pakora, samosas, and a turmeric milk drink. Yum. All yum. Is it a little on the pricey side? Love this concept of choosing combos . We picked the $18 plates which included rice, naan, 2 entrees , a side & dessert. They also have a main entree menu that they serve in stainless steel dishes if you are dining in. Sizzling has added a bar menu. I stopped in a couple of days ago when I noticed the location had opened. I already had dinner plans that night, so I just went in to check it out. Very welcoming crew and I said I would be back. Tonight I went back for take out, and it was a lot like the style of Panda Express, where dishes were prepared and you just choose what you want. A center menu board has made-to-order dishes, and I will back to try those, but the pre-made was what I had in mind. Also, there are Punjabi pizzas that I want to check out, this sounds like a brand-new thing. I felt very welcomed there and a very pleasant person helped me sort through what was what and what I'd like. With a bowl and a plate I could get three different entrees (lamb, butter chicken, and one other kind of chicken), and all of them were super-tender and flavorful. Pretty much the worst Indian I've had. I got a plate with chicken curry and lamb masala. The side was seekh kebab with rice, naan raita, kheer..Both main meats were very oily and lacking salt. Rice also had no flavor,naan was burned and stale. The seekh was raw ( see photos). Kheer was off. I immediately had an upset stomach after. I do not recommend. read more

I've popped in a couple times now since opening. The plate size is deceptive, it's quite a large portion! The people serving have been wonderful both times! All of the curries I've tried have been delicious. I'm particularly fond of the butter chicken, lamb, and the chicken wing side. We were in town overnight and were just looking for a place to grab a quick bite. Saw a billboard, read some reviews, and decided to give Sizzling Indian Kitchen a try. We are so happy we did. Had saag paneer, lamb korma, naan, roti, and a mango lassi and were blown away, particularly by the lamb korma. The spicing was incredible. Honestly the best lamb korma I've eaten. The saag was also great. It's a little pricey, but what isn't these days, and the price was mitigated by generous portions. The restaurant itself is not much, like a cafeteria, not your usual sit-down restaurant, but clean, spacious, light, and airy. Very orange, but pleasant. The staff was terrific, friendly and accommodating. Going back to Clackamas in a week for a follow-up, and will definitely be eating here again. If I lived closer than Eugene/Springfield, Sizzling Indian Kitchen would be a regular haunt. read more

We have really been needing an Indian restaurant in the Happy Valley-Clackamas area, and Sizzling Indian Kitchen easily fills the need. We just tried the Plate lunch (or supper), choosing Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Curry as the two entrees and Tandoori Chicken as a side. Seasoned rice and a large garlic Naan, and condiments were all included. It was vibrant, tender meats, perfect heat, and excellent, complex sauces, even so much we had to take some home for supper, the very friendly owner packaging it all up for us.
