The BIGGEST cheeseburger I've ever seen!
    Will T.

Solid cheese burger for about $15 on hipster Ottawa Street in Hamilton. Need a snack while shopping for your vintage, nerdy, artisanal, aunt or uncle? Or maybe a power boost after the Farmers Market on Saturdays? Go here because the burgers are superb, there's even a huge patio (dates to preCOVID too!). Pro tip: the unusual toppings is what makes this place so special.

Great choice. I came across this restaurant in an article that was highlighting top places to eat in Hamilton and then I went on their Instagram and almost every picture looked mouth-watering There is two of us we ordered the duck wings buffalo cauliflower white sauce poutine and the 3 a.m. Burger The duck wings were very tender and they came with two sauces what I believe is a barbecue sauce and the other was a white aioli sauce, the sauce is what made the dish without the sauce the wings alone would have been quite boring The buffalo cauliflower was one of my favourite dishes the buffalo sauce was extremely tiny but that's how I like it and it came with jalapenos on top I complemented the dish so well The white sauce poutine is basically a shawarma poutine it came with chicken shawarma slices cheese curds a lighter gravy it wasn't your regular poutine gravy garlic sauce and it all complemented each other so well it is a shareable portion two people can share that and be satisfied The 3 a.m. Burger comes with pesto sauce balsamic lettuce tomato, the party itself was slightly on the dry side and there was a little too much balsamic on the burger because it overpowered the other tastes Overall it was a pleasant experience with tentative staff/customer service

    #Hamont 2.0 with a Sunny-Side Up Egg

I have been twice now within the past two months and both times were excellent food and excellent service! Plus it's a fun atmosphere with a mix of people, young and old, enjoying late 90s/early 00s music. It's just all around a great vibe. So first of all, they have a great selection of drinks. I went in my first time dead set on ordering a milkshake and then I saw a Root Beer Mule on the menu and just HAD to have itt. It was quite good. With that said, I also learned that this place not only has some of my favourite beers on tap (Fruli and Delirium) but they actually mix them together for what is basically one of the most perfect beer experiences there is. So, my second time I got the Frulirium as they call it and was very happy. Still haven't tried a milkshake yet so that is definitely on the docket for next time...and there will be a next time. As far as their appetizers go, I have tried the Tater Tot Fondue, the Duck Wings (with Hoison Sauce), the P'Gos and the Cauliflower. Honestly, all of them were great. There is not one that I would say to pass up because they're quite different so it all depends on what you're in the mood for. However, any is likely to please. If you twisted my arm, I'd say the Tater Tot Fondue is my favourite but that's just because I love cheese...and the ketchup they make is also awesome! As for burgers, I had the #Hamont 2.0 the first time and the You're My Boy, Blue the second time. While the Hamont was good, I messed up and added a fried egg to mine which ended up being the focus instead of the burger. The second time I had my burger as it is on the menu and it was awesome. Just such an amazing balance of flavours between the creamy blue cheese, the sweet pear jam, the crunchy caramelized onions all on an awesome burger patty cooked just right. They know burgers here and each one has clearly been crafted to get the most out of the dish. That's why even if you don't love everything on the burger, I recommend just getting it as is on the menu because the flavour combinations may surprise you. For instance, I am not a huge fan of crispy onions but here they not only added texture but also a nice counterbalance to the other flavours. One other thing...the prices may seem a bit high but you get what you pay for and the quality is well worth the cost. Not to mention you can save by skipping the fries since these burgers are filling!

Tried the Hambrgr burger joint tonight with the family. We ordered the Nashville burger, the Animal friendly (vege) burger, a pound of Gar Parm fries and 8th deadly sin shake. The Nashville chicken burger was pretty good. The Animal friendly burger, the gar parm fries and the shake weren't special at all. The prices were rather steep. I probably wouldn't visit them again.

Went in here tonight for dinner. There are quite a few high tip tables along the wall, and a couple lower tables at the back. The place has a unique fresh look with the bar looking very cool. Our server, Julia, was nice and talked about the special burger of the evening. We checked out the menu and noticed quite of few different beef burgers, a couple veggie burgers, and a couple chicken sandwiches. We went with the Nut Job black bean burger and Nashville Hot chicken sandwich, as well as the regular poutine. The poutine came up in 10 minutes and it was a good size (for $7) and had a good amount of cheese and gravy. The fries were crispy and it all tasted very well. The burgers came out in 20 minutes. The Nut Job bean burger was thick but very dry, and crumbly. It all fell apart once we cut the burger in half. The chicken sandwich had a soft waffle on it, that seemed to be a little soggy. What was really surprising was how thin the chicken was (see picture); it was just a few millimeters thick! I felt ripped off for paying $13 bucks for a chicken sandwich with barely any chicken in it. I told the server how I felt, and she just said "they only use a 6oz piece of chicken". I suggested they use a much bigger piece! Our check came, $36 before tip, for 2 burgers and a poutine.

This is a great spot to stopover on the drive from Toronto to Niagara (or beyond). The service was very prompt and attentive. The food was also great! Got the Buffalo cauliflower as that seemed to be a popular item. It was tasty and also a big portion. The pickled jalapeños are a must with every bite. They have a big selection of burgers with unconventional toppings. We got the 514 burger which had a beef patty topped with Montreal smoked brisket and shoestring fries. Textural wonderland! The smoked brisket added another depth of flavour. The only negative was the buns were too buttered for my liking. I would ask for less next time. We also got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. The white meat was moist and juicy but chicken was not brined so it was lacking in flavour. The sandwich relied heavily on the sauces and pickles, and if you didn't get a pickle in your bite, it was a bit underwhelming. Also the sandwich didn't taste spicy at all for a Nashville hot chicken. We will stick to the burgers section next time, chicken is likely not worth trying.

My friends have been talking about Hambrgr for so long, and I'm so glad I finally went!! There is an outdoor patio but it was too cold to eat outside so we sat inside - everyone's tables were very spaced out. My friend is vegetarian and he insisted on ordering the cauliflower wings. They were seriously so good! The batter, sauce, and cheese were a perfect garnish. I didn't know what to order so I got the hog-town, lots of protein! It was 2 beef and 2 pork patties with barbecue sauce and hickory sticks. Probably the best burger I've ever had! The sweet potato fries were AMAZING and I'd probably come back just for them. If you're in the area there's also a spacious parking spot across the street.

JUICY! A cliched word to describe a good burger, but it was quite possibly the juiciest burger I've ever had. Since this place is called "Hambrgr", let's cut right to chase with their namesake. I ordered the "not a taco". Everything about the description appealed to me ("asada-spiced patty, jack cheese, picked onions, avocado..."), but I chose to go with a regular bun than the gordita bun. I also decided to add some jalapeño, which they say is pickled in house. From the taste, along with the onions, I would vouch for that claim as there's something about in-house pickling which has freshness to the taste. As I said, this burger was juicy and the taste was incredible. I guess the only downside of that is that it made the aioli run with it, and then started to make a bit of mess. Still worth it IMO, and it wasn't just some fatty burger, but real high-grade beef. I tasted my wife's chicken burger. It looked somewhat ordinary, but at the first bite I took it was clear that they had marinated the patty well in advance. Full of taste, wonderfully seasoned and perfectly cooked. So why not a perfect rating? I think the poutine was good, but the fries were almost frites-style which isn't my first pick for poutine. The cheese curds never fully melted either. Wonderful taste to the gravy though. I'd still give the place 5 stars regardless on the strength of the burger, but they really need to improve the wait time. I was in for only a table of 2 and they said a 35 minute wait. We ended waiting closer to an hour for the table. We probably didn't see our burgers for nearly an hour and a half from the time we first came in which is too long - especially for a burger place. They have lots of wait staff who do a terrific job; but I think they only had 4 people working in the (open) kitchen. From the size of the kitchen, I don't even know if they can do anything about this, but from my experience, it is far too short on a busy Saturday night for a place that can seat about 50. Still, I have to end it on the positive note, as it was just a top, top burger. Definitely check this place out - but give yourself a bit of time, especially on the weekend.

Garlic Parmesan fries, Californication burger and green salad
    Stephanie W.

Tasty, tasty, tasty! The Californication veggie burger is simply delish. I was not real excited to go to what I figured was an overblown trendy spot for lunch but the food and the service changed my mind. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was better than you'd expect. We shared a basket of garlic Parmesan fries, which were quite flavourful, and each had a side green salad, which was larger than most. The burger itself featured a beet and quinoa patty with goat cheese and some rather tasty condiments. Mmmm! I wouldn't hesitate to go back!

My friend recommended Hambrgr as he goes all the time and said their burgers are amazing. He was not wrong!! As an appetizer, we ordered the bacon fat popcorn. The popcorn is popped in bacon fat and sprinkled with cheese. It was really tasty and if you like bacon I totally recommend this! As for their burgers, they have a great selection. My husband got the chef smash. Each week, they have a new burger on the menu for that week. His had hash browns, bacon and eggs on the burger, I tried it and we both loved it! I got the classic burger with brgr sauce and it was delicious! The brgr sauce reminded me of big Mac sauce. We also got a classic poutine which was good! Comparable to most restaurants. And to top it all off we got a Nutella milkshake, you can say we splurged a little!! The milkshake was AMAZING!! I am a Nutella lover so for me, this was sooo good. It was the perfect consistency and the nutella flavour mixed with the creamy ice cream was perfect. I highly recommend trying out this restaurant if you're in Hamilton. The seating area was pretty small but we went on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't too busy so we got a seat right away. Come to think of it. They may have had an upstairs as well, I did see a staircase. Prices were very fair and reasonable. Staff was polite and friendly!

The burger was similar to a Whopper and a Big Mac in one. Exceptional. Now on to the poutine. This was exceptional as well, the gravy in Canada is something sent from the heavens and this didn't disappoint. 5/5, 10/10 anyway you scale it this place was an amazing place.

The lady serving us was rude and I understand she may be the only one manning the tables, but it honestly was not too busy since only 4 tables taken and it was not peak hours, but the tone she kept using with us to "give her a second" was not pleasant. We ordered a BBQ chicken chop salad, the original hamont burger with fries, and two beers. Food took a while to come out. Salad was really fresh but I didn't know it came with beans, which I'm not a fan of. Burger was honestly a bit too salty and dry for me. I also tried asking for ranch for my fries but was told it's an additional $2CAD?! That's pretty expensive for someone from SoCal since sauce is usually free or at most 25 cents in LA. Parking was convenient because we were lucky and found metered parking right iufside

The only regret I have with this place is the fact that my wife and I waited two years before we came back. We were were worried that after two years the first time we were there was so awesome, with all the things that could change we wondered if it would still be good. Well, it was. We recently celebrated our wedding anniversary and we were so happy to be at Born And Raised again. The menu doesn't miss a beat. We started out with a couple of appetizers, steak tartare, and burrata done in a seasonal style with butternut squash. I thought it an odd combination but it was so amazingly good. Then our mains, I had the rigatoni with meatballs, and as a special feature item my wife had tagliatelle with braised short rib. I am always critical of Italian food given that my grandmother, mother, stepmother, wife, and mother-in-law are masters at it, but let me tell you their rigatoni with meatballs is the real deal. The sauce is amazing, pasta cooked perfectly, and meatballs were so delicious with every bite. The server was even cool about getting me some extra bread to clean up that sauce with which was an extra treat. I was able to beg for a couple of fork fulls from my wife for the tagliatelle with braised short rib, and it was so delicious. Oh yeah, and one other thing, in both cases the portions were fantastic. None of this two forkfuls thing for presentation, it tastes good, you're there to eat and eat well, and they deliver. They vibe in the place is very cool noise levels are fair, and they were playing some cool old school music when we went. All of the staff were friendly, and attentive always checking in. Can I recommend that for dessert you order their pecan pie. It's so amazingly delicious, as is the scoop of vanilla ice cream they dolloped on there. Yeah, I may have had to have put in some extra time at the gym the next day, but that kind of eating gave me high I rarely get in restaurants, and I wish the same for all of you that take this recommendation to heart. Well done to the staff of Born And Raised, and I promise it will NOT be another two years before we are back again.
