If you're looking for a no frills burger joint in Hamilton, look no further. Located in the heart…read moreof the industrial area (some might argue the whole area is industrial...) this is a pretty decent burger joint. There's no seating though, so expect to order and go elsewhere to eat. This is the home of the famous pugger burger, a 1lb burger with cheese, bacon and whatever condiments you want. The pugger challenge is the pugger burger, the side of onion rings and the milk shake. Just don't eat it for lunch on a weekday or you might be caught sleeping at your desk in the afternoon. While the pugger can taste quite dry because of the sheer size of the burger, it's worth it for the novelty. Among the honourable mentions: the lose a friend burger (with tasty garlic mayo) and the world burger (think of a burger with everything on it, from peameal bacon to a hot dog).

It's all about the reputation and the meat! We forgot to call ahead. They were nice enough to put our burgers through before the lunch rush of call ins were due. Needless to say, they prepped the burgers for four of us pretty quick, 10mins. I had the 1lb pugger. It was easily a two hander. The burger is pretty simple, the sauce they added gave the burger tons of flavour. The bacon gave it an extra kick. Not just a couple tiny slices either. For the amount of burger they give you it is a fair price. If you want a lot of meat, and don't need anything fancy, come here.

Overall, pretty good - never been disappointed with their sushi rolls and really cool that they add "funky" toppings like Hickory Stick chips (trust me... it's pretty good). They even have bubble tea there, which is also quite average, definitely great since Hamilton Mountain doesn't have much bubble tea options. This place is definitely a pick-up spot, barely any seating inside but it's great for a "fast food style" sushi spot. The Charlie's Chopsticks in Westdale (1035 King St W) is definitely a lot bigger and great place to study/hang with friends. I recommend their "Iced Cafe" drinks, as those are very good; reminds me of a sweet Vietnamese iced coffee!!

Bubble tea and drinks are amazing, again, huge menu to choose from If you're from Hamilton, you honestly have to give this place a chance. They're open so late, it's perfect for a late night bite

I can't say I've ever been unimpressed with the quality. I can't speak to the hot dogs because I've never tried them. Maybe I'm too conditioned to soggy buns or bland hamburger from every other fast food hamburger joint, so to my mind Five Guys' meat remains a cut above everyone else (McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, etc.). But, and it's a big one, the prices are very high for hamburger and fries. Given that the competition pretty much gives the drink away in the combo, it seems particularly egregious when Five Guys doesn't do it. The other drawback is the speed, or lack thereof, in getting the food out. Again, I'll cut Five Guys some slack because the speeds are roughly compatible to the competition, but it sure is annoying to watch higher numbered orders go out before yours. I would love to know why that is. Lastly, the decor is minimalist at best. Ambiance is zero. The eating area has rather a "face for take-out". I mean, why stay? Maybe that's their business plan, to reduce the need and costs to clean up. So in summary: the value is only there, barely, if everything lines up for you: you don't mind overpaying, the food turns out well, and is out fast, and you plan on going takeout anyway. If any one of these things fails, the value goes out the window. Will return, but only after some time to forget these salient points.
