Don't look any further than the Genesis Dance school. Located upstair in the brick building right on 233rd Street near Merrick Road is the best dance school around. The staff is wonderful, polite and very knowledgeable about all manners of dance. One of the things that is refreshing is that everyone is treated like family. Take that drama down to Abby Miller....no Dance Moms nonsense over here. Kids can start really early (I think they take them at 4 years old) and go all the way up to adult classes. If you are thinking about sending your kids to learn or want to learn a few moves yourself, do yourself a favor and check it out. I can't oversell a place that has no complaints.

My daughters treasure their pictures with Belle and Cinderella the most. I would highly recommend going to see any of their shows. I just joined Steps Alive inc. this September and i enjoy going there so much, my dance coach/teacher Mrs.Collen is the best, so is all you`re staff , my friends have been going here forever and will not me and i dont think I will either.You guys have amazing care for students like me,I have never felt lonley or bad when i was here we get rewards,and best of all learning dance witch is the best part, i do lyric jazz , and its the best, my sister will be starting ballet soon and I hope that she has as much as a great time as I do. Unfortunately there is no website or printed paper schedule so... it's very very very tricky signing your kids up for lessons if your trying to coordinate your family's activity schedule. If you have other siblings activities you will have to sign up for dance first and build all the other activities around this schedule. You don't even know the days until you sign up and they verbally tell you. If your kids want to dance for fun this is a great school. One suggestion for the landlord and all the other store owners on that block of stores: the parking lot drop off pick up situation is horrible and dangerous. There needs to be a single one way in and out of the one lane parking lot, a traffic light or a stop sign would be help and if everyone could stop double parking that would be so nice. I have to park 2 blocks away to avoid the insanity and car accidents. I do love that my kids had fun in a nice environment and learned how to dance. The teachers are very good with the kids and the annual recital is very long but well organized.

This dance school also focuses on dance technique as well. Every time my daughter dances, folks always ask where did she learn to dance - I say Adele's Creative Dance Center!! - the ballet teacher is tough but knows her stuff - the hip hop / Modern and African dance teachers are pretty good too...In addition my child learned discipline, and the owner of the school Mrs Adele imparts old school traditional positive values to the kids such as courtesy and being polite to others at all times. This dance center is an excellent facility for my daughter to spend her time and continue to learn the art of dance while doing so.
