I don't spend a whole lot of time up in Hamilton County, however, a recent work conference gave me the opportunity to spend some time at Hamilton Town Center. Hamilton Town Center is essentially an open-air mall. Developed by Indy-based Simon & Associates, Hamilton Town Center opened in 2008 right on the cusp of when the more traditional shopping mall was starting to wane in popularity and developers were exploring options. Hamilton Town center features over 85 shops/restaurants and is designed to resemble a streetscape. Some of the dining options, in particular, are free-standing buildings in outlots. While I think it's pretty common to associate Hamilton County with a more affluent clientele, one of the things I like about Hamilton Town Center is that it has a nice diversity within its shops - from definite high end options to more "ordinary joe" type outlets. Hamilton Town Center also hosts Emagine Theatre (the former Hamilton 16 IMAX). I suppose a minor quibble would be that the vast majority of the options here are national chains, though I noticed a lot of the national chains tend to be smaller chains that might surprise you they're a chain. Being a Simon Mall, Hamilton Town Center has a rewards club and there are some online shopping options. Like most malls, Hamilton Town Center tends to host holiday events and has a Santa every holiday. Generally speaking, accessible parking is plentiful and curb cuts are well done. There's at least one very nice greenery area that seems to draw the kids quite a bit with its various playground-lite equipment. There's a definite "sprawl" here in terms of the landscape. If you have mobility issues, you may have difficulty if you want to go to several different stores at opposite ends of the "mall." In terms of accessibility, it works. It's just a bit tiring. I considered going a 4-star and a 4.5 is probably more accurate, however, the real clincher for me is that I like the diversity of shops more than Castleton and I like the economic variation more than Fashion Mall. I just feel like there's something for everyone here. While the mall generally opens at 10am, I do kind of wish they had a decent breakfast/brunch option. However, that's pretty easy to find within a mile of this growing area. If we're being honest, Castleton is okay but has definitely declined. Fashion Mall is just fine, and I definitely like the food options, but it's more than a wee bit pretentious. Greenwood Park Mall is probably the closest comparison, though Glendale Town Center is weaving together the hybrid experience these days. Washington Square and Lafayette Square? Um, yeah. No. While Central Indiana has other options, this is definitely one of the better mall experiences in Central Indiana and it's an easy drive from pretty much anywhere in Marion and surrounding counties. read more

This is a good place to go if you want to shop but don't want to leave your dogs behind! A lot of the stores allow dogs, you can find the list online and I heard they also have it in the mall office. We took our fashionable dog to American eagle, francescas, bath and body works, and of course three dog bakery. All of the staff at the stores were really nice to us and our dog and we felt comfortable in the stores. I also appreciated all of the safety measures at the stores like masks and outside lines. This is also just a pretty mall to walk around on a nice day. We rounded out the day with lunch at Pies and PInts in the mall which is dog friendly as well! We had an awesome sweet corn pizza and the dog was given some water and they were really kind to him. read more

This mall is beautiful! We go here every Black Friday and love the enjoyable vibe over here. Christmas music was playing outside, there were fun holiday decorations, Santa was greeting kids, and we found parking after only taking a few laps. Because the stores wind out in a few directions, the cars driving through the mall all have to drive slow, and it makes it easy for pedestrians to get around. My favorite stores here include The Loft, Englins and Rose & Remington (now a pop-up, but the actual store coming soon). We're big fans of the Cunningham Restaurant Group restaurants, and they have one in this mall that we always end at: Stone Creek. It's incredibly delicious and their holiday gift card special rocks -- $10 gift card for every $50 you spend. There's also a movie theatre, massive DSW, and massive Ulta in this mall that are located in the parking lots. read more

In a world where shopping malls seem to be dying in favor of online shopping, it's exciting to see a shopping center like this flourish - no vacant spots here. In fact, it continues to grow with new dining options coming in spring 2017. It's a drive to get out here for me, but I like the layout. The main drag with the roundabout with the old timey clock makes it seem like a charming Main Street USA - not flat Indiana, just a stone's throw from a busy interstate. Lots of parking makes it easy to shop in lots of stores by keeping the car in one spot. *Knocking it down a star because I would LOVE to see more locally-owned restaurants here. I love HTC! I'm here nearly every weekend either eating lunch or picking up necessities at one of its many stores! There are a lot of eateries to choose from! It can be a little confusing at first finding your way around, but if you can't find it here, you probably can't find it anywhere! There are festivals and other special events that go on throughout the year. When those happen (such as today), parking can get a little "interesting", but fortunately, there is plenty of parking behind some of the main buildings that normally is not full so it's good for overflow or when they have to close the main roads. Also be aware of concert days at Klipsch because that can have an effect on traffic as the police will start directing at the intersections. This is my go-to mall since Castleton Square seems to be on the decline. Even when it's busy, I feel like the traffic around the mall still flows well. read more

Not a fan. Outdoor malls are out of place in Indiana yet they keep building them. Lack of signage to businesses. Road that twist turns and multiple round abouts. Parking lots right next to each other that don't connect. Super frustrating. I will stick to real malls and straight roads of Marion County. read more

I like this mall a lot. It's just a quick trip up I-69 from Fishers or Castleton, and has some great options for dining and shopping. I went up yesterday to check out Old Navy's 50% off outerwear (plus 30% friends & family sale) and Banana Republic. It didn't disappoint me shopping-wise, and I've been there several times for lunch at Paradise, Houlihan's and Mo's. Betsy A. is right - the layout is much better than Clay Terrace's ho-hum design. I haven't had the time to fully explore it since I usually go during my lunch hour, but I have every intention of going back and seeing what else the mall has to offer. It's also a good place to stop if you are going to a concert at Verizon Wireless Music Center since it's just down the street. Ample parking space, nice retailers that are a happy medium between middle-of-the-road and upscale, and plenty of dining options make Hamilton Town Center a worthy North side destination! read more

We stopped here for lunch on our trip back home to Illinois. We had our two dogs with us and the staff brought out a gift bag with treats, doggie bags, water and water dishes for our dogs! We were blown away that they had this at all, let alone noticed us eating outside. Very thoughtful! read more

HTC is the latest outdoor shopping mall on the Indy metro scene. With a more interesting layout than Clay Terrace, I think this place is a winner. It kind of reminds me of Metropolis out in Plainfield, but I think it's store selection is perhaps a bit better than at M. There is a nice combo of discounter type stores such as SteinMart and Payless, a big JCPenney anchor, Chico's and the like, as well as casual and fine dining from Stone Creek Dining Co. to Five Guys Burgers and Fries. Apart from shopping here, I could definitely see using the site as a place to stroll for exercise. Hamilton Town Center sits right off I-69 and just to the north of Fishers in an area that has seen huge growth and development over the past several years. Surrounded by housing additions and a business park that make up the highway-spanning planned community of sorts of Saxony, Hamilton Town Center is almost sure to keep expanding over time as urban sprawl continues on its steady, determined trek. read more

I really like this mall. HOWEVER, I abhor poor planning. Anytime this mall is busy (i.e., first days of nice weather in spring, etc), the traffic is horrendous. I mean horrible. I do not want to wait 15 mins just to pull in to a mall, plus find a place to park when I am literally going to two stores. There need to be more turn lanes or something. And if you aren't in the correct lane to go north on 69 when you are leaving, good luck getting over. I actually saw a fender bender on this visit, in the lane going to north 69. read more

I like this shopping center a lot. It's larger than Clay Terrace and feels more like a shopping mall. It would be great to walk around in the summer. Only downfall is the stores are pretty much exactly like clay terrace and not really different than any other mall. read more

Hamilton Town Center is an outdoor shopping center located in Noblesville, IN - 10 miles north of Castleton/I-465. The layout of the mall is easy to navigate and the brick streets - though need some work - make it a nice touch. There is a wide variety of shopping from Dollar Tree to Buckle. JC Penny and Stein Mart are the main anchors of the center as well as a movie theater. There is easy access on and off I-69 which makes it convention to access from neighboring communities. The whole area is booming with development from hotels to restaurants. During a nice day and you need to get some shopping done - check out Hamilton Town Center. read more

I like the layout of Hamilton Town Center much better than Clay Terrace, because it's more condensed into a square area that's easier to walk (as opposed to being a long area like Clay Terrace, which requires constantly moving your car if you're not up for the walk in the bitter cold, windy winter months). I also like its convenience to a major freeway (I-69), and that it has some major anchor stores (instead of being overly boutique-y and snooty, like Clay Terrace). read more

There are so many stores here that everyone in the family should be able to find somewhere to browse. Only downfall is the traffic that goes through. I felt that i was about to get hit a couple of times. It would take me a couple days to go through the whole mall. read more

I like outdoor malls. In the spring & fall it's nice to pop out into the sunshine in between stores. This place has a lot to choose from. You could spend the day there. What I think they are lacking is a good coffee shop. They do have a lot of food places to choose from, but a fab coffee place would be a nice addition. The traffic going through takes away from a peaceful stroll, but if you go during the week it's not bad at all. I avoid days when they have special events planned to avoid the crowds. read more

It is of course better looking than clay's terrace because it is considerably newer but none the less it is prettier and has alot more stores in the mall area. But the area around clays terrace is much more built up. Eh to his his own. There are not a ton of stores for the teens however the movie theater keeps plenty of them hanging out there. Really this is a better mall for the mid 20s and up with a nice mix for those age groups. Having paradise there of course is perfect! (best cookies ever!!) its nice to grab a couple cookies while walking to burn right off the calories! again a beautiful outdoor especially at night! just hope it continues to build up around there! read more

I heard how much better this place was as opposed to Castleton. This mall is not what it was cracked up to be. It's nice that it's outdoors but the store selection is unimpressive. It has an odd layout and parking near a store you are interested in is hit or miss. It lacks green space as most great outdoor malls do. It's really just a collection of lower end stores with not much else to offer. A mall without a roof. The perimeter stores are way less than special. Maybe I expected too much from Noblesville. Mall officials sponsored a "Caring Visit with Santa" for families with special needs children. We signed our family up so that the children could meet Santa and we (parents) could get pictures as well. Registration for this event was conducted through a 3rd party website. Arrived at the appointed location 5-7 minutes prior to reservation time. I checked our family in at a table in front of the "Santa House". A number of families with special needs children had already arrived ahead of us and were waiting in line. We found out that organizers (mail personnel) had set up the registration process so that 5 families received same reservation time which only had a 15 minute time slot in which to meet and talk to Santa. The lady overseeing the check-in table said that Santa was still meeting with the first family and that there were another five groups ahead of us. Additionally, we would be looking at a wait of 30-45 minutes at a minimum. Our initial thinking was to wait until our number was called. However, a sign near the entrance to the Santa House indicated that personal photos were only allowed IF a group made a purchase of photos taken by Santa's helpers. My wife went inside the Santa House to confirm this while I stayed with our children. She reported back advising that in speaking with person(s) inside the Santa House, the information on the sign was correct. We would be allowed to take our own picture(s) ONLY if we made a minimum purchase of pictures (5x7, 10 wallets size (?), and, one 8x10 picture) for $27.99 (not including tax). Based on this information, we decided not to stay and requested that our reservation be cancelled. To say that all of this was very frustrating would be an understatement! It was clear that mall organizers while operating with what I want to believe were good intentions, made this a less than family friendly experience for our family, maybe others as well. Had mall officials taken the time to be more clear in the registration process about how the whole event would/should flow (5 families per 15 minute slot?!?!?), they would have at least, saved our family a great deal of frustration and irritation. Further, while I don't begrudge the mall for wanting to make a buck, that they made no apparent attempt to alert families to the prohibition against personal pictures (unless you buy one of their sets) before, during, or after the registration process doesn't engender a great deal of good will. Whether it's a meet and greet event or some other type of event, I would suggest you call the mall office and ask questions. Whether it's meeting Santa or the Easter Bunny, call and ask if pictures can be taken, how long can you meet with character?, will you get to meet him as a family or will other families be with you during that time? Again, I'm sure the intentions of mall officials were good in wanting to give special needs families the opportunity to meet Santa in an environment that is conducive to special needs children. Still, they failed to alert families to the process of meeting with Santa. Further they did a less than stellar job of informing parents with respect to the prohibition of personal picture taking. I love HTC! My family enjoys the charming atmosphere around all the shops. Christmas time is one of our favorite times to visit Hamilton Town Center. We love the giant tree, the giant fireplace, and all the beautiful lights. This year we decided to visit Santa for a Christmas photo for my grandson's first Christmas. Yes, there was a line to wait in and we didn't mind that at all! We had fun watching the ice skaters and chatting with the other families in line. We even had to wait while Santa took a 15 min break, which we didn't mind at all either, due to we know Santa needs cookies and milk to survive! BUT, I was a little disappointed in Santa's greeting (NO greeting) as we came into the small hut for photos. Santa's helpers were super nice and greeting us with smiles and happiness, but Santa did NOT say anything but..."put him on this side and push him all the way back." Even during the photos (which we PAYED for and happy to do that for this special memory), Santa DID NOT smile once! My thoughts here...my grandson is only 4 months so he has no idea who this man was BUT the children outside were dancing around and so excited to meet Santa that I think this Santa was going to be DISAPPOINTING some sweet little children's hearts. Get a second Santa to relieve this Santa or give this Santa some Christmas JOY cause he was down right depressing! LOVE YOU HTC but NOT loving your Santa! read more

This mall is in such a convenient location for me. The only downside is since it is an outdoor mall, it's not always easy to walk from store to store. I usually only head to Hamilton Town Center when I'm only going to one store and on a mission. read more
