Covid protocols still in place but masks not required

I go way back with this dealership. I bought a Beetle here in 99, another one a few years after when the first was totaled, and then my first mid life crisis convertible(Eos). I was happy with all of them, and also found the buying experience to be low pressure. I left the brand to try out higher end cars( those experiences were also fairly low pressure, I think car salesman stereotypes need to be re-examined?) mainly out of curiosity and that pesky mid life crisis thing. My current Volvo was becoming a maintenance burden, and after almost 9 years with it, I knew I had to shop for another car. I started with higher end brands again but found that inventory on low mileage small SUVs was non existent in this area. Brand new models were available but priced higher than I was looking to spend. My old car was still reliable so we puttered along. At some point it dawned on me to see what Vdub had to offer. I'll admit, I was not a fan of the Routan(?) or it's slightly spiffier Tiguan. But if these were my choices I'd take a look. Unbeknownst to me they had just released a smaller sized model called the Taos. I liked it in photos, and even more when I saw it in person. My first trip to the lot left me confused. This nice sized dealership had about 10 cars total for sale????? It looked like an empty parking lot. There were only 2 Taos to chose from but I liked one. No sales people approached me, and that was ok because my first q would have been "where's the cars??". I just kept checking online from time to time. A bit of a family emergency and then the winter holidays came around and put my search off by a month or more. During this time their inventory increased and so did my desire to get something new. I stopped in again a few days before Xmas and saw the color I would eventually select. I contacted Pete C and arranged to come for a test drive 2 days before NYE. We spoke briefly and he got me into it quickly. He did not accompany me( not sure if this was due to Covid?) but I preferred that. We talked about numbers and the used car guy gave me a very lowball estimate on my trade in. When I told him that was way off, the second offer increased by almost 100%. Still low and nothing off of sticker. I had to think about it..... I told Pete I'd call him the following Monday and expressed my concerns. He said no problem, we could negotiate more. With no real haggling we came to a figure I was happy with for my trade in, and I did get something off of sticker. VW may be struggling to regain market share after the emissions thing, I know more popular manufacturers are selling for higher than sticker price due to shortages. So this became my fourth purchase from this dealership. Pete was laid back while at the same time being honest and informative. He was also multitasking like crazy as they may be short staffed. As for the SUV, I hope that after some time with it I'll rate it as highly.

I bought from afar and had the car shipped to me. What a mistake and I can put the blame for the…read moremost part on the salesman not the shippers!!! The delays from the sales staff were heartbreaking and the condition of the car I received was unbelievable. I prefer doing business with someone who is honest with you about the process. I felt ghosted for nearly a week waiting for word on the car title. To quote the salesman: "In top shape and is ready to go". When the car arrived, the battery couldn't be charged above 50% and so right off of the bat, it needed a H6 AGM battery. The intake hose to the turbo was cracked into two pieces and I couldn't drive the car for a while, no useable wiper blades because the edge was not attached, I couldn't and can't even get the key FOB out of the dash because of transmission/shifter issues that nobody cared to mention, so, if you want to steal the car, just pull the window down like they show you in Tik-tok and drive off! Of course my insurance won't cover car theft since I can't get the key out of the ignition due to this problem. It needed a complete brake job and 2 bulbs, I was informed about these items before it was shipped, none of the other issues were mentioned and according to Jayson these were the only issues, according to his mechanic. Then there was the overfull oil .6 quarts over, which will kill an engine, probably overfull to make up for the constant leakage all over the bottom of the motor. I'm OK with the scratches I couldn't see in the pic's and the door dings, those minor things I could somewhat expect but most sales staff will point out any issues. Not here! I'm lucky the engine runs at all and that it doesn't have worse transmission issues, they probably wouldn't have said a word. You want to trust people but let me assure you, you will be much better off in my opinion going to a decent dealership to find a car even if it will cost you a bit more. Very friendly and cordial to start out, but, don't get suckered in like the rest of us have. I read the bad reviews and thought, oh, that's just a few out of a lot of sales. More than likely, it probably is just a few of those willing to take the time to warn you after seeing the reality of doing business with this place. I took the time to warn you also! I hope you find a good car from a good dealership at a fair price. Keep looking :)

The current 2024 Jeep Wrangler I had, had a recall and it was causing my Wrangler to be not drivable and the fix could take over a week. I was in a time crunch, I am military, I had a military school to report to in SC in just a few days, I would have had to uber to EWR airport, fly to NC, go to military school, fly back to NJ and pick up my 2024 Wrangler and drive back to NC. They put a deal together that paid off the existing loan on the problematic Jeep I had, rolled over the negative equity but with military rebates and other incentives they washed this out for me basically. And they then got me leased into a brand new 2026 same jeep same color with huge added features to it. Yes "by the numbers" in the long run if I purchase the residual at the end of my lease I will have ended up paying more, BUT with my 2024 financed jeep running out of warranty (extended warranty cost $4k-$6k) and having issues I most likely would have paid just as much if not more on that over the next 4.5 years or the life of the loan. Not to mention they lowered my monthly and raised the mileage on the lease for me too, no inflation on pricing there whatsoever. Also! I had a roof rack and aftermarket side steps on my jeep, and the service team did all that work for me to transfer it to my 2026 leased Wrangler, BUT the roof rack wouldn't fit properly on the 2026, they did go above and beyond and look at if they could cut pieces off of out to make it fit for me, I was truly impressed they would try that and do that extra effort. I ended up leaving it with them for the time being and they were very accommodating of that. Either way I am completely satisfied with this entire teams' customer service. Highly, HIGHLY recommend if you are a service member or first responder and there are rebates and deals for you to come talk with them!

The first thing she asked me was what was I looking for and she wasn't talking model, I told her I wanted to lower my monthly payment. She explained a few numbers to me, we agreed on the money down and she said give me a minute. Kerri came back with a price $35 lower than my current monthly payment. The deal was done. There were extreme scratches down one side of the car, a dent on the roof, and another scrape on the back that were not clearly shown in the pictures at all. Then my son got into the car and a warning light came on saying the power steering system had failed. The seller himself couldn't even reverse the car out of the parking spot. Instead of handling the situation professionally, he had my sons follow him on the highway to another garage just to diagnose the issue, only to then say it would take two hours or more to fix the problem.
