Even witnessed him throw out a mentally challenged patient who was making too much noise during her cleaning-whose caregiver insisted that she was going to file a complaint against him and that I should too since his staff was arguing (and being quite rude) with me that I did not have an appt despite the fact that I was standing there with their appt card in hand with that day's date on it. Their…read moreequipment and practice is outdated (my new dentist showed me the diff between their X-rays and newer ones and it was significant) so they do not have a preventative approach and therefor missed a lot in my mouth--only told me I needed to replace fillings by the time that was the most extensive pressing in my mouth, and do the lid fashioned eyeball approach vs using advanced tech. I ended up with extensive preventable decay (cavities in all my molars) and may even need to get a root canal now in one of those leaky filling teeth even though I had been seeing them regularly. They just don't have the contemporary resources to be comprehensive and avoid issues before they're huge enough to see. They also still regularly use Mercury/amalgam fillings and have heavily promoted fluoride paraphernalia in the office (to their credit no one was aggressive or pushy towards me about it, they were very professional and easy going). But it's something to keep in mind perspective wise if you're seeking a dentist. Good for cleanings but for anything else in my experience it's worth the trip to Scranton (or even Hawley). Teeth are for life. They're great people but this is my honest review. My difference in experience between here and my new place in Clark Summit was night and day.

On 2/3/2025 i was given a written treatment estimate showing $2,158.90 out of pocket and $2,682.10 covered by insurance. I was told I had to pay the full amount before I could even schedule the appointment. After I went and got the money together, I returned on 3/3/2026 and was given a completely different estimate for the exact same dental work. This time they said the total was $4,560.00, with insurance only paying $783.00. Nothing about the treatment plan had changed, yet the numbers were drastically different just one month later. This experience felt extremely misleading and frustrating as a patient. I would strongly recommend that anyone considering treatment here get a second opinion and carefully review their estimates before paying anything. 2. Complaint to Your Insurance Company (Insurance companies actually take these seriously.) Writing I am writing to report a concerning experience regarding billing estimates from Horizon Dental. Started as a decent experience, MYold dentist said I had great teeth just a year before when he…read moreretired. One tooth had a cavity on the side and on top from an old set of braces I had on when I was a kid. I knew that one needed a cap. After that I never saw my original dentist. All of a sudden I needed 3 additional caps. Believing they were honest, I scheduled them. The 2nd one on the opposite side was pretty quick. The third one they ground down so far they hit the nerve and still put the cap on, its super sensitive and food gets stuck. I never went back for the 4th one. Saw another dentist and he said I was lucky I didn't do the 4th one because that tooth DID NOT NEED A CAP. I had insurance but still paid out of pocket. Called to discuss with them but never received any calls back.
