It was nice and pretty easy to find just a little sad to see how dead and dried up this entire small Ohio town has became...very sad!!! But on the brighter side this Little park was very clean!!!

It's exactly halfway between Columbus Ohio and Wheeling West Virginia. And heading East there's nothing but mountains. To the West it's a long flat stretch to Columbus. It has a small town feel, and it even seems a little bit Republican to me. But it's a nice city.

Who does not adore a traditional middle America city in the heartland. When visiting just after…read moreThanksgiving the town was decorated for Christmas. My stay was less than a week, however I enjoyed the downtown square several days. The highlight was their old courthouse decorated top to bottom for the holidays. A lot of foot traffic was a welcome sight as most downtowns have failed. It was exciting to see a local theater too, the Midland. Highlights were the great eateries in the square. In all I tried five local businesses that were fantastic! Barrel & Board, McKenna's Market and Elliot's Wood Fire Pizza were favorites. Not to mention my lodging at the Hilton was just one block from everything. In a time when downtowns have disappeared it was refreshing to see what the City of Newark has accomplished.

The Charles Holliday Covered Bridge was one of the last covered bridges in the area, and it was…read moreoriginally located on Lake Road, crossing over Walnut Creek. It was moved onto the grounds of the Millersport Lions Club, where it was restored and is now open to the public to explore. You cannot drive through this bridge in a vehicle. Instead, you park in the Millersport Lions Club parking lot and take a short walk through the grounds and explore the covered bridge by foot. It was fun to sit inside of it (there are some benches) and look at the weathering on the outside. Once you're done looking at the bridge, take a look at the other buildings and structures that sit on the Lions Club property. The town has taken to relocating many of the historic buildings to this spot, and the public is welcome to visit them.
