I understand a business owner wanting to be able to identify people coming into a shop. Especially when there are highly desirable pieces of merchandise that undesirables may want to obtain. But, to order people coming into the store to take off their masks the whole time they are there is wildly inappropriate. It was crowded inside and no one was wearing a mask. I suffer from lung issues created by chemical exposure in the military. I don't understand why anyone would want to jeopardize my health. I also don't like being ordered to do things the minute I walked in the door of a business. It's the business owners domain, but rude and inappropriate doesn't sit well with me. What a Rip Off. I took my trigger guard system for 887 Remington shotgun to change out the (5 parts of the safety switch) since the original safety switch popped out. I bought entire trigger guard off eBay since parts been hard to find with Remington issues and COVID. All these guys had too do pull a pin, spring, ball, and switch from eBay to my original one. It's on the Remington Schematic. What I get back is a lie! The tall guy says here your "bag of parts" which was the original trigger guard system, all dismantle in Baggie. The picture below is the original trigger guard I bought from eBay. It's a parts and won't even fit in my shotgun because the two pins are temporary. The insulting part is I can replace on engine on 2012 Chevrolet Sonic. Clutches and water pumps. It's not that hard to read a schematic take a small hammer pin and punch out that switch pin. Pull the pin out until the ball spring and small ball bearing falls out and then you can pull the safety switch. Really simple elements guys. What I get back is a baggie of parts which never should been taken a part in first place (the original trigger guard system). Plus, they took the Springs. The picture below is the one I bought from eBay. This Store did nothing. To get my parts back I had pay $65. This is called "bait and switch"! I will be contacting FTC, Attorney State General, and another Agency in Wheatridge. ~ read more

Went to Hammer Down gun shop and purchased 3 hand guns. The gran total was just over $2,000. Had to wait for background check, come to find out the were not able to sell them to me. The day of purchase "Mike" said their is a $25 restock fee on each firearm. He charged me $467.50 for a restock fee. I am disgusted with Hammer Down gun shop. Walked in once looking for ammunition. And the store employee/owner whoever it was told me something that I wasn't really able to hear as I walked in. He was asking to remove the mask so I could show my face to the camera. Note I didn't hear at first, and the second time he told me he was rude about it. Great experience at Hammer Down Firearms. I was met with a friendly hello and how may I help you. The staff took time to explain local & federal gun laws and procedures. I was making my first firearms purchase and was never made to feel unwelcome or ignorant. The staff are very professional. I ended up using HDF to accept a firearm I bought online and found them far more helpful than the shop I made the purchase from. I was promptly and politely notified when my purchase arrived. When picking up my handgun I was shown the proper way to handle, field strip and clean my gun. Although I did not purchase the gun from them, they still took the time to answer any questions I had regarding firearms safety. I would definitely recommend them as a top notch outfit. I feel for this owner as it seems some folks are challenged with comprehension and/or reading. The owner has a sign ON the door stating their policy. If you don't feel comfortable entering then don't enter. Go to another gun shop. Simple as that, right? There's a plethora of them out there. I have taken two rifles to Hammer Down for gun smith work. Based on my previous experience with other gun smith's in Denver area, I'd rate Hammer Down as above average on turn around time and pricing. While I have not purchased any firearms from them, while I have been in the shop I have seen the personal offer discounts on a $750 handgun of around $50, so take that for what it's worth. Not a lot new rifles in stock, seems more of a handgun shop, but staff seems friendly enough during my visits. read more

Went to 5 gun shops that advertised gunsmith services. Hammer Down was the only one that had the part, a small pin. He charged me $2 even though he installed it for me to make sure it was the correct part. All of my larger purchases will be directed to HD. You might want to consider these small shops over big box stores especially if you don't work on your own guns. read more
