Avoid. We contracted Marra brothers to renovate our small master bath in November 2019. This would…read morebe the second bathroom we contracted them to renovate. We had no major issues with the first bathroom reno in 2019. Work on this bathroom project began in early January 2020. During this time we also contracted them to repaint numerous interior rooms, our railings, some carpentry work on our steps to add risers, and add a door to an office. During the bathroom remodel, in February there was a soft clog in the line and our basement partially flooded. Once cleanup was completed, we also contracted Marra to tear out and renovate our newly flooded basement. During this time from January to May we had numerous issues with sloppiness and general mess that was made, unreliability of workers, quality of work, all of which I addressed repeatedly as the issues arose. When they first sanded no plastic was put up, there are parts of my home where I'm still cleaning even though I was told they would, most of the paint on our railings and some walls has worn off, there are light fixtures and carpet that have paint on them, I requested numerous paint touch ups because areas were missed or painted around yet the touch ups look worse than before the touch up. But the proverbial straw here is what started happening in the bathroom in September 2020 (they "completed" the bathroom at the end of March). In September one of the tiles on the shower floor came out. I contacted Marra Bros and asked them to repair. He said sure. A week went by and no word so I asked again and they came out and used liquid nails or something similar to place the time back in place which of course came out with two days. The tiles have continued to pop out of the shower floor, at this point there are TEN tiles that have come out of the shower floor. The tiles on the bathroom floor have also come loose with cracked grout. I wasted, I mean spent tens of thousands of dollars for all of this work and had them in our home from January until May. The quality of the work depended largely on who showed up or didn't. Overall they lack good planning and project management skills. Our bathroom tile looks horrible in some places largely because there was no plan and piss poor project management. I'm now working with another contractor so I can spend thousands more to repair the shoddy work Marra did in this bathroom. I will then spend more with a painter to redo their shoddy paint work. At which point I will still probably be cleaning dust from the original project. Find another contractor so you don't end up like me having to pay a second contractor to fix the "work" that Marra Bros did in our home. I'm sick over the amount of money each time a tile comes lose. Summer 2023 more tiles have come loose and I'm now working with another contractor to demo the entire tiny bathroom. In the end this bathroom will cost more than my professionally remodeled kitchen. Avoid these clowns they don't know what they are doing.

While a previous visit had quickly found a collapsed drain, Cody's investigative work confirmed that the collapsed line had actually been abandoned, that the French Drain was in good condition, but that the grates over the gutters were filthy and not catching any water. Cody saved us a ton of money by avoiding the need to dig up a drain line that wasn't connected anywhere. Thank you!

When getting an estimate I made sure to outline possible problem areas and outline concerns that…read moreother companies had expressed but these did not seem to concern the owner who reassured us of the abilities of his crew. The statement of work I was given seemed very high level and did not look like other quotes or bids I had seen including a missing PA Contractor License number which I would later find meant I missed some consumer protection from my end. A few days prior to paving I received a call from the owner informing me that in order to pave I would need to sign an additional waiver around the absolving them of damage or cracking of the existing driveway segment but that it shouldn't be an issue. As the project was underway the workers were standing around the sewer cleanout which was broken by the Bobcat removing the stone. I was told that they needed to fix it but I was asked about an additional access they had found. I told them I did not and wasn't sure what it was. I would later find out that this is called the drain vent and is necessary to prevent sewer gas from coming back into your home. I trusted their judgment and when the job was "complete" we were happy overall with the project but was a little disappointed at the state my yard and house were left in. The driveway had significant cracking, garbage was left around the site along with a ton of cigarette butts. Additionally tools and materials that would expect a professional crew to have such as a hose and extension cord were borrowed and left with tar all over them. On Mother's day, our sewer backed up and a plumber came to check it out. Ultimately we found that we would need to dig. I called the owner to explain my situation to see if there may have been a possibility that something could have happened when paving and that it would cost $5000 to fix the problem. I was told that this was "ridiculous" and that he would send some guys down to fix it. I was then asked if I told the men to fill in a pipe that they had found. I explained the situation as I remembered it and as described above. They did not have any way to suck out debris. They came with the WRONG type of vent and pipe. Once they were able to dig out the pipe and cut it they asked to use my shopvac and informed me it didn't work (didn't plug the bottom) and then told me it wouldn't suck any more (needed dumped). I ended up getting in the hole to clean out the water and aggregate as we waited for the workers to get a bigger shopvac. In the meantime the owner of the company was informed but was not on site apparently due to an issue at one of his plants. So he was directing his workers over the phone and video chat on how to fix this situation. When he eventually did come to the site after an intense conversation I informed him that I did not wish to fill in this hole tonight and that I wanted a plumber to inspect everything. Luckily we didn't because another blockage occurred. The plumber put the correct pipe on, fixed the clog, looked for damage, and ordered the proper vent top. I paid for all of this out of pocket because I didn't want to escalate the situation even more with the owner. After a week when I followed up I mentioned the vent. The response: "We will not cut the pipe". I had asked to have the pavers ensure the .5" clearance required to prevent stormwater from entering the sewer. The pipe was already cut and the cap was already on so they just needed to do this final detail. When the project was "completed" this last detail was once again ignored. I have not heard anything else from the owner asking if this was done to my satisfaction. When the problem occurred there was zero ownership on the part of the company. I was constantly being told they were "doing me a favor" and blamed me. In the meantime I paid an additional $500 for plumbing issues caused by this situation. I was ignored about the pipe which required no additional work on their part and was not done to code. We were fortunate that these issues weren't more severe and that they were found early.
