I had a nice experience with Tyler. He was quick to return calls after I'd left a message asking…read morefor info, and got back to me promptly during the project when I messaged with questions or decisions. He was proactive about thinking ahead (advised me to get paint in advance, to match new clapboard he would paint after finishing the new roof), shared his knowledge (didn't just fix the problem but showed me the source: in my case, a rotted beam causing water to leak into the house), discussed various solutions (how the slope and location of the roofs on the main structure vs the bump-out prompted different considerations). He recommended a particular approach and materials (but was amenable to customer preferences) and discussed pros/cons (options for a rain diverter; shingles vs tar or whatever the other roofing surface was). He's licensed, insured and a hard worker who arrived on time, then worked steadily all through the day. I was equally impressed that he was respectful of my home (wiped his boots when entering the house; quickly shut the door on a cold winter day while we discussed the project; didn't want to sit down because he had been outside on the roof, sawing wood, waterproofing, laying shingles -- things like that). And I was pleased that he gave a very thorough estimate and came in on budget and finished on schedule. Previous to hiring him, I spoke with two people who Tyler did work for. Like me, they were very impressed and recommended him highly. They gave me lots of examples of what he did for them and why they respected and trusted him and appreciated his work. Both mentioned they'd called him back for additional projects -- a good sign.

Then tell you that the job is for more than there first estimate . The owner Thomas Bailey is a fraud. If you go to their address on 198 Charlton Rd. there's just a mailbox registered to Ifixmasonry.com under Patrick O'Brien and James. No office space or signs for Roofline on this premises. There also using a contractor's registration number under a Julius Harris. Avoid these rats at all costs.

SCAM ARTIST. HOMEOWNERS BEWARE I had gotten a quote for a…read moresimple job. My chimney needed some repairs, $2400 estimate. It was a little high but the lifetime warranty sounded good. They demanded a deposit upfront to order materials, kind of odd but okay. Upon arrival, they demanded the rest of the money before starting the work, they said they were going to finish it today. They tore apart the chimney, damaged the roof and left a mess within an hour. They then came to my door telling me that the whole chimney needed to be replaced and was going to be $15,000. They showed me pictures of a chimney that wasn't even mine. They pressured my wife, threatened us by saying we would need to vacate the property if the town found out, and they would call and tell the town themselves. At this point I spoke with them and told them to hold off, because the original estimate jumped over 6x all of a sudden. I later had a legitimate licensed contractor come out, they told me only a portion of the chimney needed repairs and it was going to be even less than Rooflines original quote. I approved of his proposal fixing the portion of the chimney that was in fact in need of it. However he refused to do that job at that point and was threatening me with a lawyer because a non-deeded, unauthorized signature was on the $15,000 proposal. I had no interest in doing business with him at that point. I have been asking him for a refund, and he continues to threaten me with making me vacate my property, threatening me with a lawyer and refusing to give me a refund. When I asked the third time, he actually flipped out on me, threatened me personally, called me all sorts of derogatory terms and told me to never call him again. They presented themselves as ROOFLINE in Sturbridge, upon going to the "office" we were informed that it's just a virtual office there. The company actually registered to the address was Ifixmasonry.com, a Patrick and a James. We will need an attorney to handle this matter. Save yourself the time and the theft, and do business with a legitimate company.
