I hired these two to remove a tree and trim others. They told me one thing and did something different. When I asked about the job the one brother told me it's the best way and it won't touch the roof of the house. I got the same answer when I asked about other trees. They were late arriving so a one day job turned into two days. They just assumed I was available the second day. So I had to change things around because they couldn't show up on time. The second day they were late as well. I have a huge job that still needs to be completed and it won't be done by these two. read more

James and his sons trimmed all our trees we planted over 30 years ago; 1 Jacaranda, 2 Magnolias, 1 Fica, 1 Avocado, 1 Bottle Brush and a Palm Tree. They did a great job at a very reasonable price. I had previously allowed drive by unqualified trimmers to top and otherwise mess up our trees. This company offered to come back out and give an estimate and were very kind and nice to me especially Crystal so even though I'm not going to use them because I found someone sooner I do appreciate the ability to try to resolve the issue and I would give them another chance if I hadn't found someone else. James, Jesse, and Mitchell did a great job on our trees today. We have a blue gum eucalyptus, a pine, three liquid ambers, and a Washington palm (which I was unaware until James informed me). I love James' enthusiasm for and knowledge of trees! It's what separated him from his competitors, not just his reasonable pricing. My friend HIGHLY recommended this family business after her trees needed emergency service after the windstorms. I had them take down a large magnolia tree, a ficus tree and get rid of a spiny bougainvilla. And grind up the stumps so I wouldn't have problems later on. Boy, talk about a great family to come and have work for you. I have used other tree trimmers and have had good results. But the enthusiasm and professionalism shown by James and Jesse is what makes Hamm's a company I suggest, if not insist, everyone call for an estimate. I needed someone to remove a 38-year-old (dead) tree in my backyard surrounded by plants, low walls, and concrete. In front, I wanted to trim a very large pine I was concerned would blow over during the Santa Ana windstorms. I am so glad I called Hamm's as one of my estimates. James has such vast knowledge of trees and how to trim them to satisfy the client, and more importantly, to keep your trees healthy. Jesse also has great knowledge, and can climb and trim like no one I've ever seen. Together they work safely and carefully, showing concern not only for themselves, but for the surrounding walls, fences, plants, etc. It is amazing to see them rig a branch to tip just right when cut, and then lay it down exactly where they want it to end up on the ground. Masterful! Afterward they cleaned up and hauled everything away after giving me tips how to maintain good tree health. It was a pleasurable experience from start to finish. Now that I live in an area that has stringent fire abatement requirements, they trimmed my trees and removed the standing brush, pine needles, etc. so that I'm well within compliance with the county. If I could award this family owned business ten stars I would. We called numerous tree services to do a very delicate root grinding in between a driveway and walkway demolition and having a new concrete driveway, walkway and path poured. The timing had to be just right so that there were no delays in the project. Not only was James reasonably priced, but worked so well with the scheduling that we were able to proceed with the next step earlier than anticipated. They arrived on time, were neat, personable and professional, but also made some additional suggestions which helped with our next phase. All of their workers were polite, professional, on time and far exceeded our expectations. They also trimmed up a very pesky palm tree so that it will be at least a few more years before we are faced with doing that again. We will have more work for them after all the new concrete is poured in the fall with a few more trim ups and James is going to be our go to guy from now on. To top it all off after the work was over I got an email checking up on things and thanking me for the business. Now when does that ever happen ? You will not be disappointed with them.
