I've popped into Hampden Junque a few times over the years. The store is very small, but houses a ton of collectables ranging from nick-nacks, glassware, buttons, trinkets and more. THE GOOD... -quite the variety of items to look at -very pop-culture museum-like feel on a small scale -prices seemed reasonable -tons of vintage glassware (looney tunes, smurfs, beer and more) -cool store front/window setup -lots of cool old photographs to sift through THE BAD... -doesn't accept credit/debit cards -parking can be a pain depending on time/day -not a lot of stuff I'd actually buy, but then again I don't go in frequently enough to see what new items have come in Overall, Hampden Junque is a unique shop worth a visit if you've never been. Definitely a lot of nostalgic items to feast your eyes on and take a short trip down memory lane. read more

This place gets my inner scavenger all hot and bothered in all sorts of saucy ways. I love antiques....like a lot, and this place has some little oddities that any niche collector will enjoy. You can rifle through small piles of so-so junk to discover all kinds of neat little finds. For example I found two pieces of religious trench art from the World Wars, one of which I'm sure was from WWII but the second I was unable to determine. Nothing like a Mother Mary holed up in a mortar shell with a rifle cartridge crucifix to crown the beautiful piece. They also had some Fritz the Cat style 60's cartoon comics that were popular in California during the hippie era. I can list and list and list the cool stuff I found.....I won't to spare you. This place is just another of those antique shops in Hampden. Most of them after I checked out, were super lame and instead of actually selling "antiques," they sold their own line of products. Here however, the store had a variety of items from framed Star Wars Comic front covers that are framed to playboy mug from back in the days. The only complaint I had here was that it was super hot inside, which made me rush in my purchase/looking around. Overall, this place is worth checking out even if you aren't going to buy anything. -Street parking read more

Cash ONLY...you've been warned. I came here first on my all day shopping excursion of this neighborhood. They had some fantastic glasses that I remember having growing up with as a kid. I got some great Día de los Muertos shot glasses that I will use in my new office :-) They also had some unexpected items that I normally don't find in antique shops, like old 1930's photos from a families photo album for sale. It absolutely made me want to know more about the people in these pictures, so if that's your thing, then this is your type of place to check out. I could have spent a full day looking around (even though it's a small space), it's got some really great pieces that are for sale. We were in Baltimore looking for a neat thrift/junk store, the kind that we knew Baltimore and a lot of big cities house. Surprisingly, Yelp failed me here because this store wasn't prominently mentioned. The inside is fairly cramped, with various odds and ends piled on shelves, and other things crammed into crates and shoeboxes. If you're looking for a unique JUNK store and want to walk away with a one of a kind kitsch item, come here. I spend more time looking at the window display alone than I spend in most other junque shops in town. This really is an oddity shop. If you like Elvis you'll find it here. What a fun store!!! The place is packed with campy little items covering every genre of things to appreciate on either a sincere or ironic (or mix) level. The store is well curated, and everything was priced very reasonably. I'm now the proud owner a framed Godzilla/Mothra poster for $20. The owner, Mark, was very pleasant and friendly. This is what Baltimore is all about- kitsch vintage that is endemic with a big ol' Balmer flare. I "adopt" ceramic cats from this place and the other vintage shops down the street. A lot of their stuff is centered around mid-century collectables (such as ceramic cats) and plastic knick-knacks and lunch boxes so if you're into that aesthetic this is the store for you. read more

Very small but that is what makes it fun! You have to dig around and look at everything to find your diamonds in the rough. If you want an old Mickey Mouse watch or a framed cigarette ad or a buffalo bobblehead, you've found your place. Remember to look up too! Even the art on the walls is for sale. Okay, so Hampden is kind of known for kitsch. This is the place to go for truly eclectic kitsch. Worth going to just to explore the oddities. Great shopping place during the holidays, so long as your shopping for that certain sort of peculiar friend. I I found a four foot tall bronze crucifix the with purple neon backlighting once. Couldn't afford it, but god it was awesome. Stock in the store seems to rotate frequently, and seasonal displays are typical. Check out the window display during the Christmas season, it's usually fairly amusing. read more
