I personally was there back when I was 23, they have you coloring like children and all on the same medication (which I refused). The male nurses would hit on me. I watched them send multiple people to Ancora. I don't know what they're rehabilitating mentally, it was an echo chamber of the same day over and over again and you just learned to get out by following their bullshit. Hampton is the most evil place on this planet. if you have a loved one in crisis, never send them here. if they are being transferred here, especially unit 4, have a legal team and law enforcement waiting. Diane Daw is not a doctor, she is a PA and the entire unit will lie and prevent you from seeing an actual MD your entire stay. if you do not eat food due to allergies, sensitivities, or other reasons they will threaten to keep you longer and make you involuntary. the nursing staff loves putting patients through hazing rituals, finding what is innocent and important to them (i.e. a sketchbook, a patients guages, someone's favorite hoodie) and arbitrarily take it away to send them into an emotional state. Diane encouraged this behavior, taking pleasure in pushing patients into hysterics and then threatening to make them involuntary. Everyone should know how evil these horrible people are, and Hampton needs to be shut down immediately with everyone who works theres' licenses revoked. read more

I've worked for over 4 decades in behavioral and medical health as a doctoral level clinician. That will take its toll on anyone, and so I went for help at Hampton. I cannot begin to express my horror at the care I witnessed there. My own care was inadequate but I'm pretty resilient so I survived ( not without major complications). But clients more vulnerable than myself were harmed beyond belief. Clients that should have been supported with one to one care were left to themselves. One person with schizophrenia literally put herself through a wall, leaving a human size hole next to her bed. She should have had individual support. Worse yet, the roommate was never informed that this client might be of harm to herself AND others. Staff routinely started conflicts with clients that easily could have been resolved with standard de-escalation techniques. Medications that had nothing to do with diagnoses were forced on clients. One client with complex medical issues that should never have been admitted, rather referred to a med/psych unit such as the one at Main Line Health was denied life saving medications and may need a renal transplant because of it. Clients that were over medicated were under supervised to the point that a heavily medicated male client entered my(our) female room, urinated and had I not intervened quite certainly would have climbed into bed with one of the female clients thinking this was his room. I'll leave you to speculate on the rest....Again, not the client's fault. Should have been more closely supervised. Private health information is routinely disclosed to the entire patient population as a requirement of group participation. Staff delighted in shouting at clients, treating them as children, and "punishing them" with arbitrary removal of privileges. ( I have no stake in this as I do not smoke, am not interested in ambulating to areas away from the unit or using the phone.). I am however elderly or senior and expect to be treated with minimum civility. We were denied access to fluids for more than 20 hours a day which was a concern for me because I require fluids for a medical condition. The only fluids available was room temperature, elementary school style water fountain which I am certain would never meet minimum infection control standards. Professional staff (MD/RN/PNP) were unavailable and if a medication was required or an order update needed it had to wait ofter for more than 72 hours. (in my day, there was always a physician available for phone consultation) Treatment does not take place on weekends. "Group therapy" is a poor excuse for rudimentary lectures available in any self help section of Barns and Noble or Google. The ONLY support offered emotionally comes from fellow patients. And thank GOD for our shared humanity. I was denied the ability to wash my clothing and had to wear dirty clothes for 3 days. I was denied food unless I consumed it immediately. The social worker conducted a superficial assessment with multiple errors. The most egregious violation of constitutional rights involved abuse of insurance. We were all invited to Hampton as voluntary patients. However, if we said we wanted to pursue existing or planned treatments in another venue (outpatient/ other inpatient facilities) we were told that we had to schedule a MH hearing ( often 4 days away) and denied the right to leave.....hmmmmm....allowing Hampton to bill insurance for whatever days we were there. I do not write reviews on the internet but I feel compelled to warn the public to fully investigate any policies surrounding a loved one's hospitalization. Please see Reddit if you are interested in becoming part of a class action lawsuit against Hampton. The Burlington county and the federal mental health and substance use ombudsman are resources but I'm sad to report I have difficulty finding their numbers. Keep at it. Do your best. Contact your congressman if you have been harmed. Be explicit with your insurance company about what exact treatment you received. If you have medicare or medicaid contact CMS 1-800-633-4227. FORCE medicated against his wishes. The nurse said "you seem agitated" and gave him 3 unknown pills. He said, I don't really want to take those. She said take them or we are going to inject you. Do NOT entrust your loved ones to this facility. The lack of care and communication was frustrating and disappointing. We were looking for help for my daughter and received none. When she was admitted, we were assured she would be placed in a unit specifically designed for adolescents and young adults, with a maximum of 10 clients aged 18-25. This setting was one of the key reasons we entrusted your center with her care. Midway through her stay, without prior consultation or warning, she was moved to a different unit housing approximately 30 individuals, many of whom were older and presented with more acute or severe behavioral health needs. This change placed my daughter in an environment where she felt overwhelmed, unsafe, and afraid. She expressed to all her caregivers that she was afraid and they said it was a "corporate" decision - nothing could be done. BUT, they could have told the clients - instead they were given 30 minutes to pack up their stuff and move! When I voiced my concerns and requested that she be moved back or discharged immediately, I was told that this decision was made at a corporate level due to a low census on the original unit. In other words, the promised quality of care was compromised for financial or logistical reasons--decisions that, in my view, prioritized efficiency and cost over the well-being of the patients. I called the Patient Advocate - who was useless - she responded - "Well, you can send a letter, but it just goes to me anyway" demonstrates how little she cared. They wanted me to leave her there longer - for no other reason than to collect our insurance money! There was no doctor - only a Nurse Practioner - who was unpleasant to my daughter and refused to return my phone calls. Stay away from this place! read more

Shlock program to milk your insurance. 2 weeks of partial care 9:00-3:00. Then Intensive outpatient 2 weeks from 9:00-12:00. You have to find your own psychiatrist and therapist by the 4th week. That's wrong! The patient shouldn't be doing that. Lazy and not very experienced counselors need to work! It's Punishment style approach with behavior contracts. Huh??? I am 64. I don't need a behavior contract because I took a walk off of the property. They take your car keys when you arrive. There's a lot of faker patients full of crap, and no one really listens to anyone else. I had to deal with a fake fireman (stolen valor syndrome) and a woman who spoke incessantly about her totally dysfunctional family. My needs didn't matter because no one really listened anyway. Don't expect the counselors to help you in any way that requires extra work. There are better programs ranging from 3 months to however much time a person needs. This program is just milking insurance in an outpatient setting. I will be speaking with Medicare. Patients over 60 can contact Medicare if they believe they haven't received good service. The inpatient program is very good. The outpatient program NOT! Oh and the patients were tight wads! Worse than poor people! I asked for a cigarette because I ran out and didn't get to the store. None gave any and one lied to me saying she already gave 4 cigarettes out then goes to a corner of the courtyard and turns her back to me. Hiding that she's smoking. WTF! Talk about passive aggressive! That's why I walked 3 miles round trip along a highway in the broiling sun for a pack. You want to be A holes - I'll take care of myself! Even people in Trenton share cigarettes as poor as some may be. That was the last straw and they gave me a behavioral contact? Fug them in the ass! read more

Re: Dissatisfaction of care in regards to Inpatient Hospitalization. Admitted to your facility on 10/5/2022, discharged 10/12/2022. Patient writing this review in order to express extreme dissatisfaction with multiple aspects of care received during my stay at your institution. The care that was received was careless, dangerous, harmful, and cruel. Patient is a physician. Background: Patient presented to Trenton Regional Medical Center on 10/4/2022 with chief complaint of thoughts of wanting to hurt myself and thoughts of wanting to hurt wife. Patient voluntarily sought hospital admission. Patient was actively manic and had not slept for several days. Patient voluntarily sought psychiatric admission for further management and stabilization. Was kept over night in the Regional Trenton crisis center and then transferred to Hampton Behavioral Hospital on 10/5/2022 and was admitted. Psychiatric medications upon admission were: Lamictal 250 mg day, Naltrexone 50 mg day, Buspirone 30 mg bid, and Trintilex 15 mg day. Hospital Course: Dr. Draggert was treating physician. He evaluated patiethe each day of my hospital stay. It is noted in the medical record that every single day that he evaluated patient that there was ZERO homicidal or suicidal ideation. ZERO. Any HI/SI had ceased on 10/4/2022 (prior to admission). Upon discharge, it is noted by Dr. Draggert that patient had no SI/HI at ANY time during the stay. It is also noted upon admission that hospitalization was voluntary. In an effort to stabilize mania, low dose lithium (400 mg) was ADDED to medical regimen. It was noted in admission note that all my other psychiatric medications, including Lamictal (the only mood stabilizer upon admission) would be CONTINUED. Lastly, at no time during hospital stay, was patient ever noted to be psychotic. Insight was noted to be intact and judgement is noted to be appropriate. LAMICTAL WAS NEVER GIVEN TO PATIENT AT ANY TIME DURING HOSPITALIZATION. REPEAT..... LAMICTAL WAS NEVER GIVEN TO PATIENT AT ANY TIME DURING HOSPITALIZATION. EVER. THIS CANNOT BE FABRICATED. LAMITCTAL WAS OMITTED. DR. DRAGGERT DID NOT PRESCRIBE LAMICTAL! Patient admitted for active mania, yet baseline mood stabilization medication was carelessly forgotten. This is an egregious medical error. Egregious medical incompetence. It caused direct medical harm. Obviously, mood destabilized without this critical medication. This is a grave omission. Furthermore, patient didn't realize this error until patient came home. Because patient had been off this medication for a period of about 9 days, patient was forced to re start Lamictal at the entrance dose of 25 mg. Upon escalation of Lamictal, there is risk of life-threatening Stevens-Johnson syndrome. As a result of the institution's medical error, it took patient 6 weeks to escalate Lamictal dose to original dose! Patient suffered tremendously from lack of mood stabilization during hospitalization and during these six weeks due to the careless omission. Withholding a mood stabilizer in an actively manic patient who has been admitted for mania, is analogous to admitting a patient with appendicitis and specifically forgetting to perform an appendectomy! It represents gross medical incompetence. The therapeutic milieu that was experienced at Hampton was nothing short of horrifying. There were routine instances of the staff verbally harassing patient and other patients. The "N-word" was routinely used by patients in screaming incidents in efforts to provoke others to verbally respond with the "N-word". The potential of racially-motivated violence was palpable. Television shows using offensive words such as the "N-word" were often on display. The threat of actual physical violence was palpable. Screaming matches with racial undertones that were on the edge of progressing to physical assault. Patient witnessed schizophrenic patients who were actively psychotic being verbally harassed by other patients without any consequences. Sharon, the charge nurse, was abusive to patients on a regular basis. The care was judgmental and was not compassionate. She was cruel and abusive. Certain group leaders would scream at patients. Another patient verbally humiliated patient in the presence of the entire room, again without any consequences. In many instances, patient did not feel safe emotionally or physically in these groups, so patient would locate myself in the common area, only to be castigated by Sharon or others that patient was not in group. And there was no where to hide. No respite. No peace. No quiet. During these times, patient's rooms were purposely locked. There was no escape. There were several times that patient considered actually calling 911 to get help. My 16 year old daughter was in the adolescent unit for 31 days. There was NO communication from the doctor in charge. In fact, as far as I know there was no medical doctor in charge of my daughters care. I only spoke twice to the Nurse Practitioner during this time. The NP was hostile and unprofessional towards me and very little was communicated to me. If your minor child needs this level of care the knowledge of a doctor is absolutely needed. Medication was discontinued without the consent of a parent which is illegal. No new medication plan was administered during the 31 days. In fact, my child ended up in the ER for a day due to high blood pressure and fatigue. I had to sign her out "against medical advice" and she is currently receiving the proper care she needs in an outpatient PHP program. This hospital needs to clean up their act and step up to what they advertise! read more

I was brought here, far from my home. It was not on my own volition. My experience here, with the exception of one or two kind nurses and staff members was absolutely horrible! I had come in there with a splint on my hand and was told that I was not allowed to go into the bathroom by myself, so I was made to wait in the lobby for about two and a half hours holding it all in! They have no idea how to handle the patients and if your are not acting out and causing a big scene you will get tossed aside. This nice facility is actually at 650 Rancocas Rd. in Westampton, NJ 08060. It is just off Rt 295. Although I was not a patient I spoke with many of them as well as the staff. Patients came from all over, Philly, AC, New Brunswick, etc. The normal stay is 2 to 3 weeks. Your insurance should pay but if you do not have insurance everything is paid by the Burlington County program! Drugs after you leave are not, however so you better get the generics from Walmart. Stacy Hershkovich is absolutely fantastic. She will be your liaison in the facility to explain everything. She is a young dedicated professional who has genuine compassion and concern for patients. They all like her. Mental health is not like appendix removal or hernia surgery - it is so complex. Do not hesitate to go there for help read more

I was a former patient for the IOP program, the program itself was good. But what made me mad was that I was lied to about being sent home with refills for my medications. I've called twice and was told they would be filled by my former counselor. My pharmacy called me yesterday and said the Dr is not filling them. So I was lied too and I do not appreciate that. Don't tell someone you're going to do something and then not do it. That's very unprofessional!!!!!! Will never refer this place to anyone and will never come back for future help!!! And I don't want your apology back because that doesn't change anything! So keep your apology because you're not sorry! read more

I would actually give this facility 0 stars if that was an option. I signed myself up for the IOP in Cherry Hill to help with some worsening depression and anxiety. The first day, I was supposed to have an orientation and did not. I got that on the second day. They made us take a urine drug screen (no problems), but then they did not give us the results. I had to ask for them. I did not know who my "therapist" was, and still do not. Each day, at the start of the first session, they were supposed to "wand" you for safety, but in the 3 weeks I was there I was wanded 4 times (out of 12 visits); but then if you forget something in your car, they give you a speech about safety and not giving you your keys back to go get it. The double speak is horrible. I never once saw my "therapist" whoever that was, and I saw the PA 2x. She raised one of my medications which created some side effects for me. Each day we filled out a sheet about how we were doing and if we had any concerns about meds, etc. For 5 days, I wrote on the form that I wanted to speak with the PA about the side effects. I never once got to see her. For the last 3 of those 5 days, I wrote a question in the same box asking if they actually read those forms. No response. Tuesday was supposed to be my review for discharge date. No one came to talk to me at all that day. As we were leaving for the day, I asked If I was supposed to come back or not. THey had no idea what I was talking about. They asked me to stay to fill out my review questionnaire. I did, but I informed them that I was leaving to go to another facility. This facility is sh*t. They say the same things over and over and never really get to the heart of any issues. There are some nice people there, but I think their hands are tied by the manager, Diana, in actually giving good care. Diana shows no compassion, no empathy, etc. She is way too clinical and comes of as uncaring. The woman at the front desk, Vicky, is amazing. Sweetest and most comforting person at the facility. If you are considering an IOP or a PHP, find another facility. You will be glad you did. My experience there was 3 wasted weeks that I can't get back. read more

This review is based on my experience at the Cherry Hill, New Jersey outpatient facility. I sought help for depression by enrolling in their IOP. After the first day, my impression was this facility was not operated in a professional manner or within accepted medical and behavioral health protocols. However, I didn't jump to conclusions. After 5 days my concerns were validated and I withdrew from the program. Recently I spoke with Hampton's CEO to voice my concerns. He listened to my feedback, but didn't exhibit any real concern, ask any specific questions, and was quick to end the conversation, but he said he'd address my concerns with the facility's director. I found this response unacceptable and lacking the type of reaction a good leader possess. One of the big problems at this facility is the negative, lazy and nonchalant culture among the staff. They lack organization, attention to detail, and proper follow through. Each day was an experience in how not to operate an outpatient behavioral health program. I've taken leadership training and team building exercises, as well as a leadership course with Outward Bound. It's clear the problems are due to a void of leadership from the executive level of the hospital. The facility is clearly under-staffed, which grossly limits the services and education each patient receives, resulting in bad care being provided. The following lists the problems I observed: - The program begins at 9:00am each day. However, the therapists' never began a day before 9:20, 2 of the days didn't begin until 9:30 and 9:35, and one day didn't begin until 9:43. There were two 15 minute breaks each morning which always turned into 20 to 25 minutes. - Patients are placed into one large group, numbering 23 to 18 people during 4 different days, although medical and behavioral health standards are 5 to 12 maximum. As a result, there's little opportunity for each person to share and participate. Also, others in the group said they were not comfortable sharing in a . The 5th day there were 13 patients. - New patients are taken out of group for a brief orientation, which seemed to be done only because it's required - it felt rushed and didn't contain much information. - Website says each patient receives a "full psychiatric evaluation, a clinical assessment and substance abuse assessment". I met with a psychiatric nurse practitioner for about 15 minutes, although medical standards indicate 60 minutes at minimum. The PNP rushed through reviewing all my answers on the questioner I completed and offered little feedback, guidance or roadmap to helping me get better. The PNP didn't show any concern for my condition - she just wanted to, and move onto the next person. This wasn't a "full psychiatric evaluation". - A therapist ignored patient privacy when I was asked to spell my last name in front of the group. - I never was seen by a Psychiatrist or had a Clinical Assessment. - My dual-diagnosis group never met alone. All groups were put into one room that could barely fit everyone. - The rooms and the building in general was dirty and unkempt. Hampton states that groups are conducted in a "welcoming environment with comfortable accommodations" and that "The spacious group rooms provide an optimal setting for healing and recovery." Unfortunately, it was the complete opposite - the chairs were small and uncomfortable and there was no room to spread out - it was not "welcoming". - There's no janitorial staff. Instead, therapist's empty the trash. One day the trashcan in the room was overflowing and there was trash and food remnants on the floor. The trash wasn't emptied until late in the morning. - The staff uses a metal detector wand to check for weapons. But it's not effective since no one is wanded until everyone's entered the building and been inside for up to 30 minutes. If someone had a weapon to cause harm, it's likely the wanding would have happened too late. - There's signs that smoking's not permitted in the front of the building. However, that is where all the smokers are - and you have to walk through a cloud of smoke to enter. On what would have been my 6th day, I withdrew from the program. I called and spoke to the administrative assistant and told her I would no longer be attending. She said I was leaving "against medical advice", and the chief therapist Cheri would contact me later in the day. Of course Cheri never called and I never heard from anyone at Hampton again. My personal therapist was shocked to hear this. This was my very first experience with group therapy. Fortunately, it didn't keep me from seeking another provider that knows how to run a program properly and professionally, and has helped me to recover and gain new insights and helpful skills for coping in the future. I've written this review so others can avoid wasting their time at Hampton's Cherry Hill, NJ facility and look for another provider that's truly is concerned with helping people get better. read more
