It would have been difficult to do work in the room though as there was no desk in the single room. My second stay was with my family and we stayed in a 2 level Maisonette room. The room was very spacious though we needed to use the downstairs couch and an additional bed for my kids. For what it's worth, my then 6 and 9 year old boys loved having the unique layout of the two level hotel room. Staff: The staff was very accommodating and gracious. We arrived early on a overnight train at around 7:30am and the staff was able to get us into a room right away. Location & Transportation: Although you need to walk through the red-light district (which isn't so bad day or night), the street on which the hotel is located is very clean and generally fairly quiet. The hotel is within 20 minutes walk of most of the main tourist attractions in central Munich. The U-Bahn is very close by as well for further trips. The hotel has a garage underneath which is very convenient for the days on which we had a car. Rooms: We found the rooms to be very well-kept. Our kids loved the two level room that we were in and we liked having some separation from our kids at night. Breakfast: Breakfast was a real surprise and highlight. Breakfast included all sorts of hot and cold dishes, breads, and yogurts, meats and fish.

This particular family, near and distant is in a lot of places in Munich and Bavaria. From the Hofbräuhaus to small hotels in the countryside and they operate a tent at the Oktoberfest. You can see them having breakfast, lunch and dinner in their own restaurant here, overseeing and experiencing quality on a daily basis. The biggest compliment I can give a hotel is that it makes me feel at home. We're in Munich for just one day. The hotel is in the walking distance from the train station (without heavy luggage, though), metro is virtually at the front door, and they have their own underground parking which is very convenient in this crowded and car intensive city. And, boy, I felt at home. One example: I had to wait a little to check in and I was offered a drink and to sit down and relax, instantly. The room we had was pretty spacious, A/C, complimentary WiFi, minibar, and all other amenities you'd expect from a sophisticated hotel in a developed country. I learned from a regular that the new owners changed the hotel just in 2 years to the better in all aspects; I enjoyed the service back to back. To have a better service during breakfast is only possible in 5 or 6 star houses. The variety for dinner is sufficient, not every business hotel offers dinner anyway. The chef takes pride in using mostly organic produce, fish and meat and the least amount of convenience possible. I will definitely return. I give 5 stars because they sell what they advertise. And for an affordable price in Munich downtown.

The mini bar in the room is complimentary and restocked every day. It's less than a 10 minute walk to marianplatz which is perfect. Highly recommend this hotel and we loved Munich!

The hotel itself is clean, classic, and absolutely stunning. The decor was beautiful, the rooms were comfortable, and the staff was extremely kind and helpful. When traveling internationally it is always a fear that you might feel on edge, but at the Charles we felt so safe and taken care of. The concierge had insights on where to go for Christmas markets and eat in the area as well as knowledge about local transportation. They also offered a car service so that we could have a flexible day trip over to Austria. The location is also perfect to walk to Marienplatz and several other attractions nearby. They have great room service and accommodated every request AND MORE. And don't even get me started on the Florio restaurant. It was delicious! For the holidays they had special decorations and offerings which included a pre fixe meal at their Michelin rated restaurant the Florio. Breakfast was also included everyday which was PERFECT. We also received some sweet hospitality gifts from the staff. We are extremely thankful for the Charles as they played an immense part in making our trip fantastic! The restaurant in the hotel was absolutely wonderful and we dined there for breakfast each morning for free. It was a great start to the day. We also ordered room service many times and every single time it was consistently very good. This hotel has many amenities such as a spa and meeting rooms and other things we did not utilize, but it's great to know that they are there. Pricing is also fair in my opinion, there are a lot cheaper places around Munich, but this one really delivers. The only issue that we had is that the air conditioning in the night seemed to almost turn off, so it got quite warm in the room from midnight to 6 AM but still we had a great stay and I would happily stay here again next time I'm in Munich which I hope is pretty soon.

The best hotel breakfast I've ever had. Hands down. I'm not sure I'll have another like it. That's worth a stay here all on its own.

It's a small hotel, but has great attention to detail. First, the design was warm, calming, and overall comfortable. I also liked the aesthetic, which felt a little Parisian (?). It was somewhere between modern and traditional (if that's possible), but most of all was cohesive. Everything just belonged together. The small garden was beautiful and peaceful and well-kept. The premise and staff exuded a pride of ownership and service, which I always appreciate. While the breakfast may not have been as elaborate as some larger hotels, it was fantastic. As an aside, it's nice to have everything included (the mini bar, breakfast, etc.). Even the sauna and steam room were a nice amenity. Other examples of attention to detail... the electrical outlets included adapter for different plugs including USB-C. The bathroom included a table for additional counter space. The front desk included frog gummies (frog was their theme). Who thinks of all this? All these little thoughtful details really demonstrate care. If I had to critique, I would suggest a few more equipment for the gym; it was a little lacking. Overall, great place.

That was really great because I don't sleep well on planes and I really needed a few hours to rest before checking things out. The hotel is conveniently located right by the train station, so getting around is pretty easy. It took about 15 minutes to get down to the toursity area of the city. Not too bad, but we could have been a little closer. The hotel bar downstairs was nice, but a super bright in the evenings. It made it a less relaxing. Overall, this hotel was nice and a reasonable accommodation for the price.
