The tv didn't work well--lots of static and jumping picture. Overall, I was cold and annoyed for getting cheated. Don't be afraid to stay, just don't expect much and bring a blanket and pillow.

The breakfast was the standard "breakfast included" faire with scrambled eggs, sausage, and waffle batter / makers, but they also provided fresh sliced fruit and the juices were presented in iced carafes instead of juice dispensers and we dined in a beautiful room overlooking the snow covered golf course on cloth table cloths, with cloth napkins and stemmed juice glasses. To our delight and surprise, the heated, indoor pool was clean and well kept, and had a lovely, functioning sauna, and a large whirlpool with adjacent bathrooms that were all exceptionally clean. We will definitely stop here again on our adventures.

We booked a 2 room suite about 6 months ago. Secured with Credit Card, Wedding rate about $170. Called the day before leaving to confirm. No answer, left call back info. No return call. Called before leaving, no answer, left call back info, no call. Arrived around 4. Told room was not ready, waited about 10 minutes while they confirmed it was ready. Went to room. It was a small double queen. Returned to desk. Was told they could not explain why the reservation was changed, and that no other rooms were available. Asked to speak to the manager, was told they would not be in until Monday or Tuesday. (It was Friday) Tried to book at another hotel, but due to events in the area, nothing available. Moved into room because there were no other options. Was at the desk on Saturday, someone asked if I was the one who had booked a suite. I said yes. She stated she was sorry and said she had taken one night off our stay, still charging the $170/night for a room that was not what we had reserved. No discussion, no conversation about what happened or how this had inconvenienced us (4 adults on 2 small beds), just a printed receipt. Not even an acknowledgement if she was the manager. I took the receipt, and did not have the time or desire to discuss the situation at this point. Posted policy stated the room would have a turn down service unless we put a "Do Not Disturb" sign out, which we did not. No one came and we had to go to the desk later to get fresh towels. Overall, a very negative experience. Small room, not what was reserved. No real apology. Price was too high for what we received. Shower drained slow and had material coming out of drain.Ice maker not working. Room not cleaned or the linens changed. Ruined what was not just supposed to be a wedding weekend, but also a time of relaxing and enjoyment. I hope that other guests did not experience this level of service, although I am aware that other folks had issues too. But that is their business to take up with the resort.

It was furnished with so many cool, thrifted knickknacks, paint-by-number paintings, out-of-print books, old games and -- the best part -- a VCR with VHS tapes! Yes, people. You, too, can curl up on the vintage leather couch and watch a VHS of 1997's hit war romance Life is Beautiful (or Rocky III or 39 Steps, or one of the other two dozen tapes available in the cabin). Everywhere we looked as we explored the cabin, there was something new to see and be delighted by. The Cadillac is the largest cabin at this vacation cabin property. It has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a fully furnished kitchen with a gas range, farmhouse sink, new "vintage" refrigerator and a pour-over coffee maker with local coffee. It also has a large dining table, vintage leather couch and recliner to curl up in while watching that VHS movie of your choice. Or if you're not into old-school media, there's also Roku on the smart TV. Children will be delighted by the special kids nook that has been created just for them, which includes classic books and games, and a vintage record player with kids records. It turns out that all of the cabins, not just The Cadillac, are decorated with their own unique vintage furniture and knickknacks. There are 10 cabins on the property. Outside, guests are invited to enjoy a community fire pit and lawn games. There's also a covered shed with firewood that you can purchase for a few dollars. (You pay on the honor system by slipping some cash into a slot.) The cabins are located less than four miles away from downtown Cadillac. There is no one on site at the property, so you work with the owner via email to set up your stay. They will give you the combination to get into your cabin, and if you have any problems, they're only a phone call/text away. It was a very low-key, relaxing stay. I 100% recommend staying at Mackinaw Timbers if you want a unique lodging experience in the Cadillac area.

Nate, the employee who greeted me, was so kind. They did not have any rooms available and he was extremely apologetic. I went to use their restroom and I came back and he had called the other hotels in the area and found one right down the street that had a room! I was so incredibly grateful since it was not at all safe to drive further. A few moments later as I was about to leave. He asked me to wait a moment and had received a text from the owner who had given me permission to use a room that apparently is normally not available on the reservation system. The room was clean, quiet, and I got a really sound night's sleep. I am so grateful to Nate for helping me. Had he not helped me find a room, whether it was at his hotel or the hotel down the street that I was not aware even existed, I would have had to sleep in my car.
