We stayed at Hampton Inn in Carlsbad for two nights while visiting Carlsbad Caverns National Park. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The breakfast room was a nice size and the Hampton Inn breakfasts are convenient and good enough to get your day started. Our room and bed were very comfortable and we felt rested the next mornings. It was also very quiet. The parking is strange, there are a few spots in the front but most parking is in the back. There is a Chili's restaurant out front of the hotel, making it easy to grab dinner. You will also find a Walmart right next door in case you need to grab anything while traveling. Other than Chili's there weren't many restaurants around and we found most restaurants in Carlsbad closed on Sunday's. It was a great hotel for what we were in town for and the staff were friendly and helpful. read more

Stopped here for one night before going to Carlsbad Caverns NP the next morning. We stayed in Room 126 and it was amazing. The suite - including a wet bar area - was spacious. Usually I prefer to be on an upper level in a hotel but this corridor was very quiet, tucked away behind the office area and hotel laundry. It was also nearby the guest laundry room which is a great feature. The breakfast was pretty typical and a bit sad. Most of the items were low or just completely out (oatmeal and pumpkin mini waffles). They provided several varieties of tea but no hot water was to be found. I ended up having to go to the lobby entrance for lukewarm water. Definitely not ideal. read more

It's not a remodeled Hampton but it is definitely a well kept and very clean hotel. Bed is extremely comfortable and our king room suite is huge and spicy. Employees are friendly and breakfast isn't extravagant but it's good with some hot plate items and a waffle maker and bread and pastry items. We're here for work and will definitely stay here again. read more

We checked in here while traveling through the area. We booked a king room but ended up with an accessible king room, which was fine. In fact, it was great. I don't know about other rooms here, but our room was huge! In fact, you might even call it a suite. There was a large countertop with sink by the door, then the main area, which had a bed, sofa and chair was divided by a piece of furniture that functions like a desk and had a tv, which swiveled so it could face the bed or sofa. The bathroom was also big and had a countertop and sink of its own. I was definitely impressed by the room and what we got for our money (though not thrilled about the app I booked with that forgot to include taxes in the total). This wasn't our favorite Hampton Inn. It did the job with a bed and hot shower but it had some things that were annoying. When we arrived it was a little past 8. You can't get in without ringing a doorbell. We rang a couple times and it took a bit for a guy to open the door. Then we waited for the girl who was doing something else. She was nice and checking in was quick. There was no hot chocolate or coffee out like most Hamptons do at all times. The breakfast seems to have less items than most and the area is big, they definitely have room. When I booked the room I did it for one day instead of two. So I called after I booked on Hotels.com and asked if we can stay in the same room and not have to move. They said no problem, we had issues with our keys because of this. The second night we came back to the hotel and we all just needed showers. So we went to desk to have our card key fixed we asked for towels. She said she was told at 3pm there is only one more towel and she gave it to us. Why were there no more towels washed? I have never in all our travels been told there are no more clean towels. It was about 8-9 pm plenty of time to have towels ready for their guest in the evening. I wouldn't stay at this location again. read more

This place is located towards the south end of town. You can drive into the main commercial area of Carlsbad within 5 minutes. There is a Walmart located next door, though it is easier to walk there than to drive due to no direct connection other than the main road. This is convenient if you want to stock up on bottled water or snacks. The hotel itself is located less than a block off the main highway. Parking was easy here. Check-in was quick and efficient. We stayed on the 2nd floor (I think) and it was quiet. If you are in the area to see Carlsbad Caverns, it is about a 35-minute drive. There are quite a few hotels in the area here, but most are within a mile of this one. There were a few restaurants that appeared to be within walking distance of the hotel, though if you made it here you likely have a vehicle anyway. Of the 5 hotels we stayed in during this trip, I would rank the breakfast here as #3. It wasn't as spartan as a couple of the other places, but it was a bit meager. They offered a couple of types of bread, but the toaster oven machine appeared broken. I'd guess that in more normal (non-Covid) times the breakfast is fine here, though. Overall, I would consider staying here again if I returned to this area. read more

Clean hotel with average prices for the area. Parking is not the greatest as most is in the rear where "non-guests" regularly walk from the adjacent Walmart. There are signs about every 20 feet saying to take all valuables which gives the impression that there are regular vehicle break ins, not sure if this is the case though. read more

I stayed overnight on a trip to Carlsbad Caverns. Double queen room was $319 per night. My room was dirty and in dire need of updating. This wasn't a case of someone having missed a few spots from the previous day but rather dirty from ongoing neglect. I would avoid this hotel in favor of one of the newer hotels in the area. Hampton Inn Carlsbad - room 320. I stayed here two nights. The rooms are quite nice with comfortable beds. The shower was amazing. The head was super high which is a big plus for me as I am 6 feet tall and normally have to bend to get under the water. The water was also hot so I enjoyed it immensely. All of the hotel staff I came in contact with (from the front desk to housekeeping to breakfast area) was friendly and courteous. My "roommates" woke me up early with their snoring so I took advantage of the quiet time to go downstairs. Lovely breakfast area and decent spread. What do you expect when it's free? :) The dining area is quite pretty. Sits about 50 people. The breakfast includes waffles, three kinds of cereal, danishes, bagels, toast, hot oatmeal, pre made western omelettes, sausage, and a couple varieties of whole fruit. It was my first time using a waffle iron and I didn't make a mess. Yay! Cheers to excellent directions. When checking in, ask for a room on the back side of the hotel as there is a car wash directly next to / in front of the hotel. On my second night (a Monday), some yahoo decided to wash his vehicle and have the bass bumping until after midnight. I went down to try and get another room on the opposite side of the hotel. Michael did his best to help me but I was not willing to pay almost $300 for one night. I would recommend this hotel. My only stipulation is I would have to get a room on the back side if I ever came back. I wouldn't want to risk not sleeping again. read more

After a long drive I wasn't sure if I'd get a early check in but the lady at the front desk made it happen. The room was large and clean with lots of hot water. They include a hot breakfast with eggs, sausage, potatoes, waffles, bagels, oatmeal with lots of tasty toppings, a good variety of yogurt, coffee and different juices. The man at the front desk was doing what looked like two peoples job. Give that man a raise. Great location to the caverns, safe, clean and quiet hotel. Loved my stay. Room was quiet. Beds were comfortable and clean. Air conditioner worked great. The wifi worked well, which was surprising. The bathroom door handle was broken, and the bathroom had some concerning cracks. The bathroom wasn't the cleanliest either. The breakfast was fine. What you'd expect from a cheaper hotel. However, there is a Chili's right in front, which we walked to. All in all, if I couldn't find another inexpensive, well rated hotel, I wouldn't be afraid to go here again. Friendly staff! Jess was personable and even offered us an upgrade b/c our room was a bit cramped for a family of four with teens. Les gave me free toiletries when I realized I had forgot to pack some necessities. The bfast had it all: hot eggs, sausage, fresh waffle maker, cereal, pastries, yogurt and fresh fruit!! Our room was clean and the bed cozy! Unfortunately we had to call for pillow and blankets to be sent to our room, for the couch bed. Loved that Walmart was RIGHT next door and Chile's was in the parking lot as well! I would recommend it for sure. read more

Although there is a wide variety, the sausage looked awful! The oatmeal was so thick you could barely stir it. When I was driving down the street and my GPS was telling me my hotel was just down the way I started to get nervous. The area is not great but when I pulled into the hotel parking lot I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel has clearly been recently remodeled and it is well kept up. The woman who checked us in was very friendly and the room was comfortable. The bathroom was huge and very clean! Breakfast in the morning was what you expect - typical buffet fare. The only complaint I had was there was a herd of elephants in the room above us who stomped their feet back and forth from the bed to the bathroom all night long. My only recommendation is that you ask for a top floor room and then you'll be set! read more

The room was also huge, probably double that of a normal room Amenities are all there, bed was comfortable, there are plenty of towels and curtains are blackout. The shower was hot and the water pressure was adequate. The room has a nice mini fridge which has no freezer, a microwave and a sink separate from the bathroom area which was very nice. I didn't use the available pool or fitness center. Demand is very high in the area so price point is up there in the Las Vegas range, which is my reason for four stars. Wife and i stayed there before going to Carlsbad Caverns. Hotel room was nice, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was free and good. There is a Chili's restaurant right in front of the hotel. The hotel provided free and very good cookies until 8:00pm. The hotel takes both AAA and AARP discounts. Most important thing about this hotel is my wife forgot her purse in the hotel. We went back to the hotel to get the purse in the afternoon after going to Carlsbad Caverns, and the hotel had my wife's purse. read more

Not as nice as the Hampton Inn in Roswell, N.M. but still pretty nice, considering. When our car broke down and we had to push our reservation here one night, there weren't any cancellation or change fees. That was greatly appreciated by an anxious girl who's waterpump had just gone out in the middle of New Mexico. The rooms are large, exceptionally clean, nicely furnished with great t.v. channels, desk areas, and a free breakfast in the morning. You can't beat Hampton Inns on road trips. read more

Our family usually stays at the Hampton Inn because of its cleanliness and, frankly, its uniformity from location to location. The Artesia location is better than most due to its service. I appreciate "good morning" and "how are you?" from employees, which I always reciprocate. I feel like the customer service here was tops. Besides that, our 4th floor room was great. The hotel is next to a Walmart in case you need anything. This is especially convertient if you are traveling with a trailer and need to park somewhere. We also chose to stay here because it was about $40 less than the Hampton Innin Carlsbad and still only and hour from Carlsbad Caverns NP. read more

I admit I wasn't expecting much. But wow was I surprised!! Les checked us in and he was so so kind! I got an extra snack pack for being a Hilton member. There was popcorn, cookies, fruit punch, lemonade and coffee down in the lobby! You really felt welcome here!! I've stayed at resorts that don't do as much for their customers! We had a nice stay at this Hampton. It appears to be fairly new and is very well-kept and clean. It is also close to lots of shopping, should you need it. It is also a 30-minute drive to the caverns. The breakfast is standard Hampton fare, with "eggs" from a mix, waffles, yogurt and the like. I would give it 5 stars, but their rates are really over the top expensive. They seem to be taking advantage of the fact that most of the other hotels in town are iffy roadside-type deals. read more

The hotel and room itself was very nice, very clean and new. However, this hotel is located in a small town that caters to Carlsbad Caverns tourists and they, like all the other hotels in the area capitalize on the fact that you have few high quality hotels to choose from and hike up the prices for no good reason. The hotel has few (if any) amenities to offer to justify its price. It is, however, located right next to a Wal Mart and Chilis restaurant. The free breakfast consists of egg beater eggs, generic sausage patties, waffles and biscuits and gravy. Wanted to give 3 stars, but it is one of the best of a group of over priced choices, it's all relative. If you have Hilton Honors, use it to offset the price! read more

Breakfast was a bit better than other Hampton Inns, omlets and potatoes instead of the slightly odd scrambled eggs. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Nice clean hotel with great staff. The pool is a good size although a little cold. Hot tub is great and there are plenty of towels. I lived here for 8 weeks with a toddler in one of the one room suites. They always made sure we had what we needed. They even came and helped us change our bed at 10 pm after my daughter threw up all over it. If I have out of town guest that need a hotel room, I have them stay here. read more

My traveling companion and I were looking for something nice close to Carlsbad Caverns and ended up staying here for 2 nights. The front desk was very friendly and professional. The room was nicely appointed and clean. We ran into a couple of problems (maid service skipped us and a power outage) but the staff was prompt in dealing with it and went out of their way to make it right with us upon checkout. Breakfast was included with room price and pretty decent (eggs, bacon, and the usual continental assortment). Would definitely stay here again if I'm ever back to Carlsbad. read more

Loved my stay here! The rooms were a bit pricy here, but boy did they deliver for that price. We got the king suite. The room was very unique with a huge desk area that resembled a command center more than a desk -- it was pretty cool. There was a flat screen swivel tv attached to the wall in said desk area. The king bed was really comfortable and clean. Bathroom was really clean, couch and seating area spotless. Such a pleasant stay. The breakfast buffet was great as well. read more
