Another stay. I'm taking a star away. We love the convenience of the area this property serves. Arrive on Sunday, they let us check in at 2:30. A plus, right? When entering our room it smelled of weed. The smell went away after we turned the AC down so we never thought anymore of it until we get ready for bed. When laying down we find the smoke detector had a plastic shower cap taped over it. So apparently someone had smoked in there. Two, Monday night the room nextdoor had the TV blaring at 3:00am. My husband went downstairs to ask them to call and to smoke a cigarette since we were up to find the desk empty. The rooms are still clean and the property taken care of but it's the little things now that just made my stay extremely average. The property nextdoor is consistently $40 a night less. Next time we may try them. read more

I am extremely disappointed with my stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Deptford. I flew in for a funeral, so this was already a difficult and emotional trip, and unfortunately this hotel made the experience even worse. The very first night, the TV in the room did not work. Front desk staff came up and spent about 45 minutes trying to fix it, but it still never worked. After that, I started noticing how dirty and poorly prepared the room actually was. I placed my personal belongings on the dresser and realized everything became sticky. There appeared to be syrup or some kind of sticky substance all over the desktop and dresser area. Even the telephone used to call the front desk had sticky residue all over it. The next day, while I was at the funeral, staff attempted to come into the room, but I had my "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door, so they could not enter. Later that evening, I went to get ice because my soda was warm. When I opened the ice bucket in the room, it was filled with trash. That was the final confirmation that this room had clearly not been properly cleaned or inspected before my arrival. As an Honors member, this is completely unacceptable. Before a guest checks in, the room should be fully cleaned and everything should be in working order. If obvious things like sticky surfaces, trash in the ice bucket, and a non-working TV were overlooked, it really makes you question what else may have been neglected, including the bathroom and shower cleanliness. I spoke to the front desk about how upset I was, and while they apologized, manager Evelyn Orlando denied a comped room for the following night despite all of the issues experienced during my stay. Overall, this property failed badly in cleanliness, room preparation, and customer service during a very difficult time in my life. read more

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I've had. The front desk employee who checked us in was cold, rude, and clearly uninterested in doing her job. No greeting, no eye contact, no basic courtesy just an attitude like guests are an inconvenience. That sets the tone right away. Overall condition of the hotel did not match expectations at all. Most of the staff we interacted with seemed disengaged and unhelpful. What's even more frustrating is the lack of consistency and accountability. Staff will tell you one thing, then management does something completely different including charging for things that should not be billed. Check your bill carefully. Trying to resolve anything is a nightmare. The manager is extremely difficult to reach, and when you finally do, the response is dismissive and unprofessional. At the end of the day, this place has serious issues with customer service!!!! The negative reviews are not exaggerated if anything, they're accurate. read more

Had to chase down housekeeping to get fresh towels each day. Breakfast was not up to normal standards for Hampton. Breakfast on the third morning (Saturday) was a total disaster. Apparently the person who prepares breakfast did not come in and the front desk tried to do it and their regular job. Did not go well. No coffee, waffle maker was not working properly, no fresh fruit, burned omelets, no Cheerios for the third straight day, no napkins and other problems. We went elsewhere for breakfast. We would not stay here ever again. But I'm sure for others, they'll keep the light on for ya. read more

1) Your website states you have chargers for electric cars. You do not. 2) we were given keys and sent to an occupied room. Having to the lug all our luggage and 2 small children back down stairs to the lobby. 3) we were sent to another room and so back up to the 3rd floor again only to find a room with one bed. Obviously not what we reserved having 2 children only to be told they over booked. 4) just for giggles the toilet seat is broken. 5) oh, and apparently there are no keys so we have to stay in the room cause there is no way to get back in. I stayed at this cesspool of a hotel in December 2025. When we checked in, OMG, very scary & miserable woman with a really bad attitude was at the front desk. It felt like she was angry with us because she worked there. The Hampton-Deptford does NOT clean the rooms daily. You pretty much have to track somebody down for clean towels, clean sheets, tissues, etc. off their cleaning carts. We would change our sheets when we got back and left the dirty sheets in the hallway. That's how you get fresh linens here. Grumpy at the front desk wouldn't even answer the phone. There's a white blinking tiny bulb on the ceiling where a light/fan should be. Kept us up all night. This place is a dump & quite frankly, very dangerous. Some kind of fighting or something during 2 nights.   Wrappers from fast food all over the parking lot our entire stay.  I mean A LOT. Your biggest problem, however, is grumpy at the front desk. To whom it may concern, I would like to express my frustration and my extreme disappointment with my experience tonight at Hampton Inn. My husband, myself and my two kids (8 and 10) arrived to the hotel at 815pm to check in. When my husband walked up to the front desk to check in he is greeted by Eve. Eve begins the check in process and she said all the rooms are booked, Eve said somebody called in to check us in. My husband showed his ID and Eve gave my husband the key to "our" room. When my husband opens the door he is surprised by a family already in bed. My husband goes back to the front desk and we were told there were no more rooms. I waited in the front desk with hungry, tired and frustrated kids for four hours before my situation was resolved. Eve had to make calls all over the area looking for a room. There were no rooms available so here we are going to another state to make our way to a hotel in Philadelphia! Apparently OUR room that WE paid for was already taken up by another family. I am 100% certain that the ID of the other person in our room was not checked. If i had not shown up to check in, the other family would have stayed in our room for free and I would've had to pay. Can someone please be so kind to explain to me how an error this big happens to a multi billion dollar company? A worldwide market of $57.03 billion and the 35th most valuable company worldwide. I work for a prestigious investment banking company and I can guarantee you I will not recommend my bankers to stay here for the fear of going through the same experience we went through tonight. After reading the previous reviews I had to go back and check to make sure I checked into the same hotel ! It's not close to being perfect don't get me wrong. The good - check in was a breeze , the staff up front were pleasant , the room was clean and more importantly the bathrooms were clean too. Now the only reasons I docked a star , well the liens seemed a bit stale and one of the towels felt used. Very subjective but it is what it is. The breakfast well let's not talk about it there are other options out there so I would say exercise your choice to eat elsewhere Great staff , good service , clean rooms .. would come back read more

One star is too high for this place! This was the WORST hotel experience I've ever had in my life!!! First of all, the customer service is awful. We checked in on a Wednesday night after traveling all day from California. The lady at the front desk had an issue getting our rooms together even though we had called 2 hours beforehand to make sure our reservation was ready. Honestly, the lady seemed incompetent and her attitude was unacceptable. We finally get to our rooms and I immediately go to take a shower. Why was there a large toenail clipping on the bathroom floor?! There were strands of hair on the floor as well. I was so tired, I just told myself I'd talk to a manager about it in the morning. I go to the bed and there's additional toenail clippings on the floor!!! The next morning I mentioned it to the front desk and they said "it was too late for any cleaning to be done and that I had to request cleaning earlier in the morning if I wanted it". That night I called to get some towels brought up and the lady who answered the phone, Melissa, said there was no housekeeping available and I could "come downstairs and get the towels myself", she said that with an attitude too. My sister was downstairs talking to her about the toenail clippings and she said, "I can give you a vacuum cleaner and you can vacuum it up yourself". UNACCEPTABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! When we got back from the funeral (which was the only reason we were out here), I saw a different lady at the front desk, asked to speak to a manager, and told her my experience over the last few days. She was nice and said she would get someone to clean the room and that the customer service & cleaning issues were not to her standards. I thanked her as she sent someone to clean our room. On her way out, she apologized again for the inconveniences of my experience. I came back a few hours later to find out the TOENAIL CLIPPINGS WERE STILL THERE!!!! They just moved it to the other side of the toilet!!! There were also the toenail clippings by the bed still. I will be sending a letter to corporate as soon as I get home. Oh!!! And their wifi doesn't even work. How in 2023 is that possible? I will NEVER stay at a Hampton or Hilton hotel again and I will make sure that my family don't either. read more

Surprised no one has reviewed the Hampton Inn here, but I suspect it must be fairly new. I've stayed at quite a few Hampton Inns and this one, as almost every other provides a great value in that it is convenient clean and provides excellent service. Everything was in good working order and the staff as with almost every other Hampton was very friendly and helpful and gave outstanding service. The room was very clean and well put together and I would not hesitate to stay here again. read more

Stayed here for the first time. We usually stay next door at the Courtyard. We tried this Thanksgiving Holiday stay as we are from out of town and visiting family because this location serves free breakfast. Well the check-in on Thanksgiving Eve initially started out well, but then I was blindsided with a new fee. A parking fee. Yes, in Deptford New Jersey. This charge is around $15 per night and I was totally unaware. So I made sure to eat $15 worth of sausages and waffles in the morning to make up for my loss. On Thanksgiving Day, no room service even after I had notified the front desk on check-in. In fact you have to let them each day before the day you want service. So for a 4 night stay we had our room cleaned (1) time. After questioning what happened, here's what the Thanksgiving night shift attendant said while watching a movie on the couch laying down. All the staff called out and there were only 2 that came in, so she gave me 2 towels to take back upstairs. On Friday, no service again even after putting my room # on the list. We got back to the room at 3:30 pm on Friday and someone knocked on the room to clean it and we said we would be leaving in 10 minutes. Well we received a call from the front desk telling us that the crew was leaving at 4:00. Considering we were missed the day before, you would think our room should have been first on the list that morning. Perhaps you might be thinking- they must have been on the top floor. No, we were on the second floor. All in all, if you negate the two stained pillows that I had to do without on my bed and the aforementioned, the accommodations were okay. As a customer, I would have appreciated just an apology for the room servicing and have not been told about the workforce shortages or complaints about management. I would have also been okay with an amenity fee (cable, internet, pool, breakfast, hot beverages) than you just charging me for parking. So whoever is reading this: Get ready to eat $15 / person worth of breakfast to offset your parking cost. read more

Hampton inns are always nice and clean in this area! The staff is extremely friendly and the facilities is sanitary and following Covid protocols ! The rooms were clean and the beds neat and comfy . The breakfast offers a wide variety and all the food is at the proper serving temp and is delish. My 2 major complaints are the doors. The bathroom door is sliding but is heavy as h-e double L to open and close . Where as the shower doors are glass sliding and wouldn't stay closed so water got everywhere But other then that it was a enjoyable stay at home read more

Poor maintenance. Several little things like no hair dryer, shower dispensers that were empty or didn't work, bedroom light didn't work, no clock in the room, sliding door to the bathroom dragged on the floor making it hard to close. read more

Not sure the previous reviewer stayed in the same hotel. We just checked in and our room is GROSS. Like there's dried spots all over the bathroom floor including in front of the toilet - there is no way it was mopped before our arrival. Stuff all over the carpet, mirrors, windows. Yellowed linens as opposed to the crisp bright white ones we have been spoiled with on our trip thus far. Everything is overall dingy and looks like it's never been cleaned properly (some places maybe never). The ice machine is leaking and there is water making it's way into the hallway I'm front of the elevators. But worst of all is that our toilet clogged on the first use and there is no one on property to fix it. The poor agent at the desk is the only employee on property. She told me she would have to call her manager to ask what to do as there are no other rooms available. Manager off property??! I've been a lifelong Hilton customer before they were even Hilton (once upon a time they were Promise Hotels) and this is by far my worst yet. read more

I agree with JB's review. I stayed here 2 days ago. Checked in our first room to find the door open (not locked). Room was not clean. Went back to the front desk to get another room. Second room was dirty as well. Stains on the counters, smeared mirrors and stains on the pillow cases. Called front desk and manager came and brought us keys to a third room. We inspected the room, which was ok, BUT...there were no towels and only one roll of toilet paper. On top of all this, no continental breakfast and the pool was closed. We have choices where to stay. Don't pick this hotel. read more

The pool isn't open, don't ask. The gym might be open, but you have to ask the front desk to let you in. The rooms were cleaned, but all the glass surfaces are streaky and there's something greasy you are hoping was food and not a bodily fluid on the chair. There won't be housekeeping in your room during your stay unless you make a fuss, maybe because of Covid but probably not because no one of the hotel staff seems to be concerned enough to wear a mask. Horribly dirty room. Fingerprints on all the chrome lights by the bed, the desk had grease from food, the floor had not been vacuumed, the bed looked like a 2 year old made it. I was a room inspector for another major hotel chain and the housekeeping staff in this Hampton Inn needs to be properly trained. Thankfully I happened to have Lysol wipes with me. I love staying at Hampton Inn's but this location is horrible!! I checked in on Friday and Saturday I went out for the day and when I came back I could not get in my room because my key would not work. I went to the front desk and they said they turned off my key because they thought my room was a no show. I had to argue that I paid for the room and I was embarrassed by the front desk talking on her cell to management about the situation in front of others in line by insinuating I did not pay for the room. If I didn't pay how did I get a key to begin with? When I finally got back in my room (after 30 minutes of being inconvenienced at the front desk) I found the light and exhaust fan were on in the bathroom and the tv as well. I NEVER leave lights or the tv on if I am leaving my room, especially for the day. Someone was in my room!!! I missed my 6:00pm show that I drove from NEPA to NJ to see... the reason I was here to begin with. I was so upset!! This establishment was not even apologetic for making the room check-in mistake, embarrassing me in front of others at the front desk or that my 2 1/2 hour drive to come see the show was a waste of time!
