Lots of room for improvement here. Staff needs significant training. I think this is what it comes down to. It can be fixed but not sure the commitment is there. If you call to request something, there is no sense of urgency. A call down for towels has a wait time of 45 minutes plus. I overhead the front desk person tell another staff that someone called down for towels and soap because there wasnt any in their room and that they had been waiting fr over 45 mins. Yikes. Not my experience, but important to share. The club breakfast is really disappointing. No coffee, bagels were cut in half (but why), there was no milk for cereal, the half and half dispenser is broken, there is no signage on the hot food, the eggs were full of water and not made properly, there was a sign for oatmeal yet there was none. There were no bowls or spoons left and despite someone coming in to refresh, that was ignored. I went to the front desk and shared my experience in a very optimistic way and the excuse was that there was new management for food and bev and that was it. No offer for even just like a voucher for coffee or anything. I chose this location when I could have stayed at others FOR the club access. The rooms are ok, but definitely a bit beat up. They need some repair. I went into starbucks and they were a bit of a mess, yet when we asked for them to fix something they apologized and said they had new food management staff... seems like that is the excuse everyone there uses for not following through. Not sure if this is run by starbucks or the hotel. Also the rooftop bar. They close early and if needs updating terribly. Everyone is correct. The bartender was fun though! The valet is the only way to park your car because apparently street meters are unsafe to leave your car for the evening, so just a heads up for that. I will say that this outsourced service was well run. I honestly would not stay here again with so many other options. Please retrain and support the staff here better!

Extremely long line for waffles as they only had one machine. They have a yogurt machine that put out about a tablespoon of yogurt every 5 minutes. Almost no low carb items unless you wanted to eat cheese, prefab eggs with no taste, or ham. The rest was bread or cereal. The evening coffee was Luke warm. So was the hot water. Beverages were disappointing. I door pool and beds were the best part of the stay.

This specific location (Pros) -The staff was courteous, accommodating, and kind -The pool is indoor and available to use (with restrictions of course as of right now) -The Fitness room is a decent size and a decent amount of equipment (right next to the "laundry room") -You can use the outdoor grill (just need to get the okay from staff) This specific location (Cons) -Requesting a hot plate for your room is frustrating because there is only one or two for the entire hotel. Overall Pro -Overall on the inside it looks great, modern design very welcoming and spacious at a pretty affordable rate. Overall Con -I am not a big fan of the open concept "business center" it's not even really a center its just an area with two computers and a printer (they all work which is good because not all Hilton computers work at the locations I have been in) but the lack of privacy when conducting business is a big problem especially if you have a business or career where you need privacy to exchange sensitive information that is not for everyone's ears and there is nowhere to have a private room on the first floor unless you go outside and hope there is no one out there.

The location can't be beat--right next to the State House and walking distance to restaurants, bars, and the USC campus. Staff was friendly and professional. First off - the front doors are not open due to construction so entrance is through the Ruth Chris steak house. Reception is located in the hallway on makeshift plastic desks. I requested headphones and person at the desk was trying to avoid getting up and handing me a pair so I asked three times before I got it. Room is clean but worn out. AC is old and tired and getting temperature right is an art form. Water pressure in the shower is great - but keeping water hot is hard. It was either too hot or too cold. There is no complementary bottled water or even one to buy in the room. No clocks or alarms, and certainly no microwave. I ventured in the morning to the front desk to buy coffee and they had none. They directed me to the Ruth Chris steak house for breakfast at $18 a person which comes with coffee. No individual coffee available. Of course I had to wait for restaurant to open. Pool is not operational. Elevators are slow. I was charged twice for valet and had to argue to get it taken off. Let's face it - this is not a hotel. It is a Ruth Chris steak house with attached rooms. Shame on you Hilton!!! I am going back to Marriott!

The big down side is that it is hard to enter and exit the hotel's parking lot. It is on a busy road that curves. The staff were nice and the breakfast buffet was great. The pool was ok and they do have a fitness room. The room was a great temperature, clean, and the bathroom was a good size. We had to request the pull out couch linens but it would have been nice if they were in the room. Some of the blankets were in rough shape but the bed was comfortable. Overall it was a perfect fit for our family and I would stay here again.

Downtown Columbia can be a bit dicey in terms of crime, but the parking lot is brightly lit and safe. Our suite was spacious and clean. Since we were traveling with two kids, using the laundry room was necessary, and I was pleasantly surprised. The machines are free to use and work remarkably well, and you can buy individual laundry pods and dryer sheets at the front desk for $1 each. The gym is also clean, and the equipment is in excellent condition. I used the treadmill a few times during our four-day stay without any issues. My only concern was that the hotel is located in an awkward location, right off of 126, and turning left from Huger street can be a little tricky (but not impossible). It's a minor issue that is definitely outweighed by the amenities. We will definitely book here again!

I used to be housekeeping manager.. I know all hotels are different but that's just not right .. overall my stay was a 8 out of 10..
