We had a nice stay at the hotel. We came for a long weekend to check out the zoo and museums. It is close to those which was nice. The big down side is that it is hard to enter and exit the hotel's parking lot. It is on a busy road that curves. The staff were nice and the breakfast buffet was great. The pool was ok and they do have a fitness room. The room was a great temperature, clean, and the bathroom was a good size. We had to request the pull out couch linens but it would have been nice if they were in the room. Some of the blankets were in rough shape but the bed was comfortable. Overall it was a perfect fit for our family and I would stay here again. read more

This was our first stay at a Staybridge Suites, and it was overall a great experience. Check-in was a breeze, and the property is well maintained and amazingly clean. Downtown Columbia can be a bit dicey in terms of crime, but the parking lot is brightly lit and safe. Our suite was spacious and clean. Since we were traveling with two kids, using the laundry room was necessary, and I was pleasantly surprised. The machines are free to use and work remarkably well, and you can buy individual laundry pods and dryer sheets at the front desk for $1 each. The gym is also clean, and the equipment is in excellent condition. I used the treadmill a few times during our four-day stay without any issues. My only concern was that the hotel is located in an awkward location, right off of 126, and turning left from Huger street can be a little tricky (but not impossible). It's a minor issue that is definitely outweighed by the amenities. We will definitely book here again! read more

We were in and out pretty quickly so we didn't use a lot of the amenities (pool, gym, etc.). Our room was a spacious suite with 2 full beds and a pull out couch in the living room. The kitchen had a 2 burner stove and a full size refrigerator. It was well stocked with utensils, dishes, etc. The beds were very comfortable and the staff was very friendly. Check in/out was a breeze using the app. The complimentary breakfast was what you would expect. Decent quality, great variety. There was a yogurt bar, hot breakfast (omelette, sausage, casserole), muffins, cereal and fruit. The hotel does seem a bit dated but was clean! Great location downtown. Check in was easy. Nice Christmas decorations up for the holidays. First room was 121 and could hear a screaming child as soon as we walked away from the front desk. Low and behold the screaming child was in room 119 next door. After about 10 minutes in the room...... the child got louder and the screaming didn't stop. We were also directly at the end so next to the stairwell. I went back to the check in desk to request to be moved as I could see a restless night ahead. She did move us to 521 where we had a peaceful rest. Room 121 was decorated with white cabinets,etc. Room 521 had all wood cabinets. Both very nice and clean. Heat worked well as it was 31 degrees outside. Overall good stay once we got settled in the second room. Front attendant could've been friendlier. Also, be aware of the comforts of your guests if you place them next to the screaming child you could hear from the front desk, inconsiderate at best. Due to repairs being made it home we had to stay here for two weeks. Everyone was amazing the entire staying! Amanda at the front desk is always helpful and greeting and Kiki and JB Always kept the dining area beautiful with delicious breakfast every morning. Another part to this hotel is that Monday through Wednesday they have social hour with light snacks wine and beer on tap.The housekeeping staff was truly amazing and always willing to assist. "Walking Dead" on the big screen at 8am durimg lobby breakfast? Seriously? This is why you need the TV Kill app or one like it. Turns off or on any tv. Other than that and the sea of little league kids - shouldn't that be over by now? - this place helped me survive this tour. Big suite with kitchen, L-shaped couch and space to spread out for once. Warning, there is no ice machine so start the ice maker in the freezer right away. And bring your own bar to go with the ice, they dont have one. Huge steal for the money, this joint. Clean and free laundry. And for some reason they have a gym. I don't know why. Raleigh next. I'm pretty hungover. Yelp keeps adding commentary about the length of this review as I write it. This is my first experience with Staybridge and IHG. I came to visit my father for Thanksgiving with my husband and two kids. The room was fairly clean but not what they claim during the pandemic. The floor was very dirty and you can tell they do not do the extra cleaning behind pets. I did bring a lot of my own supplies so that helped and the room was manageable after that. Where they really messed up at is double charging me. So I stayed 3 nights but got charged for 6 due to a policy where you have to swipe and sign for your card at check in? Yet the funds were taken earlier in the day before I even checked in??? So of course to reverse I have to wait on my bank (I was using my debit) so of course they are closed all weekend until Monday which means I won't get my money back until tomorrow (if I do!). So I couldn't really do the Christmas shopping I had planned and I'm missing out on some real good Cyber Monday deals! So yeah never again. Fooled me once shame on you. We stayed here 1 night while exploring the area and visiting the zoo. Rick made our stay effortless and helped us get the lowest floor possible since we were traveling with a dog. The room was super clean and although we were by the elevator, it didn't bother us at all. The breakfast was tasty and had a wide variety. This was not my first experience with Staybridge and IHG but it was the first time we stayed for a week during a military move (with our small dog). This Staybridge location exceeded my expectations! I always enjoy IHG business practices: Free breakfast and social dinner on certain days. The free daily newspaper, free wifi, free laundry and free parking. The Columbia, SC Staybridge had it all. Our room was nice and modern. We had a full kitchen in our room that was fully stocked with dishes. The house keeping staff did an awesome job. The front desk staff was always friendly and informative. We had to print and fax a few documents to get utilities turned on in our new home and the front desk assisted with this process. It is close to the downtown eating spots. If you purchase snacks from the pantry, be prepared to have the most expensive snack you've ever had. We are not rookies but ran out of snacks one night and paid dearly for a coke that we ended up sharing. The dog walking area provided the little doggie poop bags and had the mounted trash container so you don't have to walk around looking for a place to discard it. Be careful pulling in and out to the main road during peak traffic hours. read more

We chose this hotel because it was close to the university and had a kitchen. Due to COVID, I appreciated that all the dishes and utensils were clean in the dishwasher when we arrived. Yeah , even though we've had some disappointments lately with HIE, we remain huge fans of Staybridge Suites. As long time IHG Platinum Elite members , we stay at StayBridge whenever feasible. Really enjoyed our stay here in a King one bedroom suite. Even though it was just for one night , we had a great day touring before the evening reception . Just a lite bite and a little wine before a nice comfortable good nights sleep. Better than average breakfast in the morn and we were on our way. We will be back ! read more

This is my first experience with Staybridge and IHG but they are fabulous. Here's a rundown of what I can think of off the top of my head: FREE DAILY hot and continental breakfast FREE buffet style dinner WITH drinks including wine and two beers on tap, Mon-Thurs Free daily newspaper Free access to computers with internet, printer, office supplies, books, dvd rental Free laundry room, including soap (Yes, wash and dry your clothes for free) Access to exercise room on site and indoor pool. Not good enough? They also give you FREE access to Gold's Gym. Free parking and wifi throughout the hotel FULL kitchen in your room, fully stocked including dishwasher and everything you need to cook. Trust me, I did. I even had a potato peeler. They even gave us complimentary microwave popcorn for our in room microwave. ...and if it aint in your room and you need something, just ask. We didn't have ketchup. The lady in the kitchen downstairs gave us a bottle...not packets...a bottle. My nephew went downstairs in uniform to buy something from The Pantry--the front desk lady gave him a military discount and thanked him for serving. The people that work here are EXTREMELY kind. I feel like they embody the meaning of Southern Hospitality. Combines with the amenities that this hotel offers, this is a winning combination. I would absolutely stay here again and again and again. I stayed there four days and the people were really nice. I also think the wi fi was great as I had a strong signal everywhere. The location was convenient. The staff was horrible!!!!! The bed was hard as rocks and had a major indentation in the middle. Their only good service was housekeeping. They kept the room very clean. We were there 6 days and 5 nights. Payed close to $1000 and had almost no rest bc of the hard bed. Don't let the free meals and drinks fool you. The food was horrible and extremely limited. Vegetarians' nightmare. The free wine that came with the self serve meals was the $1.99 bottle. Gross and cheap. The food looked like prison food. Did I mention how culturally ignorant their staff is????? They are extremely ignorant!!!!!! To add insult to injury, when I did the follow up survey I requested that someone contacts me. It is almost two weeks later now. No one from Staybridge has contacted me. That just shows how much they care about keeping their clients. There were wasp hives outside both of our windows. Both were big and had a lot of activity. The cops showed up three times on our last two days there. I am not sure why. That did not make me feel comfortable at all. I could not speak up about my concerns because the front desk and the kitchen services have already shown that they don't care about my concerns. So I just kept my mouth shut because I couldn't go to another hotel. The hotels were full due to boot camp graduation and some convention. My friend and I sat outside enjoying the pretty weather on our last day. We observed a staff member take out the garbage to the dumpster. He would stop by his car on his way to and from the dumpster. Frankly it looked like he was putting things in his car after he had gone through the garbage. Over all I am disgusted with Staybridge and their misleading advertisement. We had to make a last minute stop in Columbia, SC during COVID to spend time with family. Hesitant to spend top dollar for reduced amenities due to the pandemic, Staybridge not only offered pool accommodations, hot meals and gym options.. but Ms. Tiffany K. at the front desk went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of to include calling Booking.com to lower their rate once we realized we needed more space. I can not begin to explain how helpful she was and no words would accurately describe our experience. It is VERY hard to find good energy in customer service nowadays and it's even harder when using third party apps. Fantastic hotel! Every employee we interacted with was professional and friendly. The room was comfortable and well appointed. It even has a small bar with stools. There is no tub but the shower is large. Some of the furnishings are a little banged up but it's not bad by any means. Housekeeping does a great job and our room was well cleaned. Uber to The Vista area is $7 for the UberXL. If you havent used Uber before, just download the app. It's straight forward. There are alot of restaurants in that area (Gervais St). Gervais & Vine (restaurant) has amazing live music on Mondays (Walter Finley). Their food is delicious too. It's tapas style so small plates. There's a pantry by the front desk if you forget or need anything. Free dinner and free breakfast at certain times. This hotel is fantastic and we'll stay here when in Columbia. They're also pet friendly. The only two negatives are the tight parking lot and the "off" smell in the hallways. Pretty close to perfect. Great job Staybridge! read more

This was the weekend of the December 18th. service is a big thing right now considering everything that's going on. We walk in and notice 2 employees behind the counter one was a woman with a rust colored sweater on and the other was a white slim tall guy. Neither of them spoke. He says checking out and I said no checking in no hello or anything. Less than a minute another guest walks in the other employee acknowledged the white guy with a big hello and how could I help you. Oh wow what a big difference. I wonder what the difference was? Tall slim guy and short black woman....He gives me my keys and tells us breakfast hours thats it. We proceed to the elevator. Walk all the way to our room. The room is ok. The sofa could use a good cleaning and some stitching up. The refrigerator has an empty pitcher in there. The remote back is off in the living room. The actual room could use a good dusting. The clock doesn't work. The TV is in a complicated space up in an enclosure. The bathroom has random hairs on the floor. The air vent has so much dust on it. The tissue box has a white residue on it. Ugh. The bed seems ok minus a few holes in the sheets. The carpet has red stains throughout the floor. Next day comes we go to breakfast. The lady that was working the kitchen area was so nice. She let us know where everything was. She was such a delight. The breakfast isn't as hyped up as I had imagined. A continental breakfast thats unlimited. The juice machine was broke so they substituted with canned oj and apple juice, bottled water and cran grape. The soda fountain wasn't working. Overall just an ok breakfast. The parking lot was packed at all times. There were stray cats around the outside of the hotel. The outside area directly in front of the entrance clearly says non smoking but yet smoke filled the air with people standing and smoking. Today there was a black woman at the front desk who spoke as we were entering in. She should've been working yesterday. Lol. Time for check out. The same woman from the first day says checking out what room? I tell her ok thanks. No questions about the stay or anything. We won't be back. read more

I stayed one night on my drive from Florida to Ohio, Friday May 15, 2020. I chose this hotel based on another yelp review. I simply wanted a safe, CLEAN place for the night. We wore masks when we entered the lobby, and every time after that. However, we were the ONLY patrons doing so. Only the desk clerk wore a mask. A hotel maid cleaning the lobby wore no mask, nor did the 8-9 people hanging around the "grab and go" breakfast bar in the morning. I asked the desk clerk what the hotel's policy was. I expected at least a sign recommending masks upon entering. I was told the hotel has no policy, only requiring the reception employees to wear them. I find that very irresponsible. Don't people understand that it's for the safety of people around them? Are there really that many who don't care about the people with whom they share the world? I left with a very negative impression of Staybridge Suites. A friend who made a similar journey and stayed at Hampton Inns told me that at 2 locations they were asked to wear masks, and everyone complied. Bad form, Staybridge. read more

Special shoutout to Rick who greeted us at check in and set us up while also being a wonderful and friendly face to be welcomed by and also providing us with answers to any questions we have so pleasantly. Another thing I loved about this hotel was the ability to access a MUV fitness facility close by using my hotel key card. It was awesome especially considering how much I travel, hotel gyms don't usually get in a full workout so it was really great being able to have that access. If there was the ability to give this Location a zero it would be Staybridge Suits in Columbia. I had checked into my room and noticed fecal matter all down the side of my toilet. I went back down and informed Bobby Coker (Assistant General Manager). During this time I was waiting while he finished up his call he acknowledged me by rolling his eyes and in the direction of the phone as if the person he was talking with was wasting his time. Once he hung up I explained the situation with my bathroom and requested it to be cleaned. In addition my door handle was also broken and I asked for it to be fixed. I had to leave for a meeting and came back 10 hours later and the fecal matter on the toilet side was still not cleaned as well as the door was still broken. I went down and asked Bobby again to address this matter. Bobby said he had his crew in to address the sanitation issues. I showed him the pictures of what was still on the toilet. Day 2. I emailed Angie Combest (General manager)and it took her two days to get back with me and pretty much just offered me 50,000 points. Why would I want to be a member and why can't you just clean my bathroom that was still dirty from the previous client. Day 3. Fecal matter still on the toilet. I eventually had to clean the entire bathroom myself. I had to go out and purchase all new cleaning materials and cleaned the restroom myself. Sanitation should be the most important focus of a hotel given the amount of germs and viruses going around. read more

first thing I noticed was a fishy smell in the room, probably the product of a cleaning item. Beds were comfy but shower was weird. There was large gap with no glass at the end. Water got all over the floor. Breakfast was fine, nothing special. Overall, this hotel tries too hard to be like a Marriott but it's not there yet. My husband & I stayed here last week. From the moment we walked in the door we were much impressed. Rick checked us in and found the perfect room for us. In fact, we were greeted & helped by Rick several times throughout our stay. He'd always ask if we were comfortable. The room was clean and all the necessary items were already there. We are both flight attendants, so we have stayed in hundreds of hotels all over the country. We know when a room is clean, and this one was!!!! The breakfast was yummy and the happy hour each night was just as good! Every hotel person we came in contact with was super nice. We had a few things we needed extra, pillows & coffee. I have stayed at this hotel several times since 2014. It has steadily gone downhill. I recently stayed at this hotel the ceiling fan in the room is broken the ice machine is broken and the dining room attendant on Sunday burned the breakfast sausage I don't know for the life of me why anyone would serve that charcoal to human beings, she also allowed the tops to stay off the hot food stating to me ' it s broken " there were no napkins and the oatmeal area was filthy. Clearly this woman was not interested in working This hotel used to be well managed and very clean. I fear it has gone the direction of so many oter chains ....Owners with different values read more
