I was sharing a room with my grandma with two queen beds. On our first night we noticed the bolt for the toilet seat in the bathroom had fallen off. My grandma is 89 and almost fell off of the toilet when she was trying to get up, because of the seat shifting. I called the front desk and asked if the toilet could be fixed and were told we could be moved to a different room. They didn't have another room with two queens but we were moved to a king suite that included a sofa bed. I was very happy for the sofa bed because the regular beds here are super firm (not my favorite). The room overall was clean with a few things that need a little updating / cleaning (drawers in the kitchenette were dirty inside, door hinges were rusty) but the linens and bathroom were very clean and well stocked. The staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful, both at the front desk and the breakfast area. We were able to check in early which was amazing. The breakfast buffet was well stocked with a nice variety; having biscuits and gravy two days in a row made my grandma's trip lol. The indoor pool area is nice - the hot tub gets a little nuts when no one is in there lol. It looked like a wave pool! One minor complaint is the faucet for the sink sticks out in a way that you can't wash your face without almost hitting your head. There are several restaurants in the area, and a Walmart is back behind the hotel. We had no issues with parking and were not towed. I did see several couples walking from their car in the hotel parking lot to the Mexican restaurant, but not sure if they were towed or not. Overall I would stay here again if I was in the area for a couple of days. read more

Our weekend stay at the Hampton Inn at 2008 North Central Expressway in McKinney, TX, was the worst we've experienced at any hotel anywhere, ever. With one exception (Marcus B, who was amazing!) staff was either apathetic or downright rude...if we could find them. Front desk staff was scarce. If they weren't there, they could sometimes be found hanging out in the dining area with what appeared to be boyfriends or husbands and kids. After we checked into our room, we realized the vanity sink had no pressure and didn't drain. One of the lamps didn't work, the sofa in our suite was torn and stuffing coming out, and we were almost out of toilet paper. I realize those problems are minor, but the attitude of the staff was very dismissive. We asked for extra pillows every single day of our 3-day stay, and were told every time we asked that there were no extra pillows available. The coup de grace was on our last morning when two hotel employees knocked on our door and told us nobody was registered in our room, and asked us to explain our presence. We were completely shocked and outraged. We had checked in 3 days prior, had already been charged the full amount for our 3-night stay, had been given keys to the room and a parking pass, had been texted regularly by staff (even though they were just cursory) and had been there for 3 nights at that point. It was ugly. When we went to the front desk to talk to the manager, he said nobody had been assigned to the room. As if that was our problem! It clearly was a clerical error on their part, but we were made to feel like squatters. We received no apologies. Hampton Inns have always been our first choice for hotels, and we'd like to think this is just poor management exclusive to this one McKinney location, but at this point, we may never stay at a Hampton again. read more

We arrived here after our wedding reception and immediately were greeted with, "We ain't got rooms"- DESPITE having a room booked, and 15 additional rooms booked on a room block. The person at the front desk did not even bother to type our names into the system to check before telling us we couldn't stay. Finally, once I began pulling up confirmation of our room, he decided to "find" our room. What an awful way to be welcomed after the happiest day of your life. this place was absolutely the worst hotel i've ever been to. I walk inside and it feels humid and smells of smoke even though there are a bunch of no smoke signs. i walk to the room and the doors are wood so someone could easily break that open. inside my room i saw a stain on my comforter, a gummy on the floor, chocolate on the chair, and hair in my shower AND towels. Obviously nothing was cleaned very well. There was also a lot of sound from the room next door at night so i couldn't sleep. I don't recommend if you want to sleep easy. read more

Where do I start? I would give it a zero rating if I could. Bedding: My blanket and sheets had a disturbing yellow stain on it, unfortunately did not realize until the end of my stay. I had terrible breakouts each morning; I'm allergic to dust mites so I'm sure my bed was covered in them. I showered thoroughly each night, but it wasn't until I left that the itching and rashes started to go away. Cleanliness: So much dust was found: around the finger piece to open/close the bathroom sliding door on top of closet clothes bar, toilet paper holders, corners and crevices of surfaces in bathroom and room, etc. Stains on walls and carpets. And I must note again the bed , as mentioned above, had unforgiving yellow stains near the head of the bed and I cannot stress enough that I was extremely itchy abs broke out from the bed. Staff: Was greeted by a nice, but not sanitary gentlemen in the evening. Meaning he was kind, but would constantly rub his nose with his hands while typing on the keyboard and activating the room cards. Additionally after activating each card, he strangely held each card to his stomach. Other things to note: - Sink was appalling. It's a light pressured small water faucet. Terrible water flow, and the functionality of the knob was not ideal. - TV/remote did not work properly. Once I used the "guide" button, it was game over. It would not stop automatically scrolling down itself and I couldn't exit the guide for the life of me. Even turned off and unplugged tv in hopes of restarting. Turned on to the down-scrolling guide page, even after a while day. - USB port did not function, and very little charging options near the bed. Overall, I was extremely uncomfortable during my stay here at the Hampton by Hilton in McKinney. I typically enjoy getting away and staying at hotels, but I honestly could not wait to leave this place because it was just so dirty and poorly maintained. Do yourself a favor, just go elsewhere. Nice hotel with clean rooms. Looks like it's fairly new or recently remodeled. The breakfast was a good variety of items. The staff was pleasant. They do need to empty their outside trash recepticals more often. The small trash can next to the pet area was overflowing. I'd think they would empty that daily but it was full when we got there and still full when we left. There are lots of places to eat within walking distance which is convenient. read more

Instead of giving us a free replacement room, the general manager said he has to rebook us and tried to charge us 3 times the price of the hotel we had originally booked it for. Scam artist!!! Our stay was terrible. Front desk people were friendly, but as soon as we walked in it smelled terrible and we were shocked at the quality of our room. It felt like a days inn hotel, definitely not worth $160+ per night. We were also woken up at 3:30am by a fire alarm and ended up packing our stuff and just leaving right away. Booked through reservations.com and their customer service was the worst I've ever experienced. Well gosh this place wasn't terrible at all. But it wasn't good either. The service staff were VERY nice and accommodating and if it wasn't for them, you couldn't blame this black for collapsing in on itself. A couple of things that really annoyed me are: The walls are so thin. My Upstairs neighbors sounded like they were playing a tackle football game for the both nights I stayed. The shower had a traditional curtain. They always seem so dirty to me. I prefer a glass door. I requested a King but they gave me 2 queens instead. They didn't honor my Hilton silver status by giving the care package. The door to my room wouldn't close all the way so I had to push it each time to secure it. I found this out after my next-door neighbors were having a pound drunken conversation in front of my door and I could hear everything they said. The remote for the TV barely worked, mute buttons didn't work. It had to be aimed perfectly. The thermostat on the wall wasn't connected to the heater/AC which had separate controls. Very confusing. The toilet seat wouldn't stay up and slammed down on me while pissing. Luckily no pants were harmed. I can forgive a thing or 2 when I stay in a place like this but this is just too many to forget. read more

I am not a big fan of the Hampton brand but this hotel is gorgeous! Very friendly staff, great location and spacious room. Of course it being Valentine's weekend we had some noisy neighbors above us but not the hotels' fault. Nothing is perfect but this hotel was close and I will definitely be back! read more

Stayed here last week from Sunday to Saturday. Woke up on the 2nd or 3rd night of our stay to 3 bites on my arm.. panicked and searched the bed to find 1 medium sized bed bug. Immediately called downstairs and explained and requested to be moved. The lady at the desk, Grace I believe, showed no concern about this issue or sympathy. I work for a pest control company and I know how high the risk is of bringing them home and how expensive this can be to deal with. We were just placed in another room on the 2nd floor. Tried to speak to a manager I believe later that day/the next day and no manager was present. Grace told us that they checked the previous room (#314) and was told they didn't find anything. Made us feel like we were idiots and again, like it was not a serious issue. I showed her photos of the bug that was on my pillow and my arm bites. Left to do business for the day and tried to call 2x and didn't get ahold of a manager nor a call back. Came back to the hotel later that day and spoke to the manager finally, Javier, and he was also making us feel like idiots about the situation. Saying Ecolab came out and they didn't see anything either but they were treating the room anyways. Disputed my photos and showing him my arm bites and photos he still didn't seem to care or even.. believe us?? They comped us for one night and told us he would put it through but we would need to contact Expedia who we booked through. That is fine but still, the lack of good customer service in this situation is concerning. To think that a large hotel such as theirs did not care or express any type of empathy on the experience and situation is so so concerning.. like this is no big deal? Like I didn't have to work the entire week without my arm itching like crazy bc of this issue. Like we didn't have to spend money to wash and dry our clothes and do all that we could to prevent spreading bed bugs to the other room, the airport, and worse case our homes!! Didn't actually get to stay here. The hotel only has 1 room with roll in shower accommodations, and I booked it 2 1/2 months ahead of time for a 1 week stay. That should be ok. But no--the room was not available--Christmas week! The woman at the front desk was nice enough to help us find a new location, and offered to pay the 1st night. Fast forward 3 months--the manager--Javier revoked that offer and the other hotel charged my card without a word. Then manager 2 wanted ME to straighten it out with Javier. Well Javier wouldn't take my call. Beware of poor management here. And don't trust really getting a room with accommodations. read more

This is a really nice hotel and very reasonable. I was kinda worried about hearing the screaming kids across the hall, but once we closed our door, we never heard another sound. We had a king suite and the bathroom, vanity, and closet was built against the hallway wall which really stopped the sounds from outside. To close this area off from the rest of the room was a "barn door" with a mirror covering the door. The vanity was large enough that my husband and I could both get ready without getting in each others way. The bathroom had three large double hooks instead of the usual one. Plenty of room to hang towels and your robe! The worst part was the pillows! You see these big, fluffy pillows and when you lay your head on the pillow it deflates as flat as a pancake!! They are like cotton candy.....touch it and it's gone! And it's not just this hotel, all Hilton hotels seem to be this way. They spend so much money on everything else you think they could buy better pillows. Take my advice....Bring your own pillows. It will make your night! The pillows are the only reason I gave a 4 star rating. Otherwise it would have been 5 stars. read more

Booked to stay for a week with a friend. The hotel is dated. The carpet is old and disgusting. Indoor pool reeks! One elevator had a water damaged sign on the verge of falling off. They also did not clean the elevators the entire time we were there, so the buttons were covered with food particles (and who knows what else); the elevator floors were covered in crumbs. Upon first glance, the hotel lobby looks okay. However, there is water damage on the ceiling and some of the vents are coming loose. The hallways and lobby are ALWAYS HOT. They don't clean the lobby/breakfast area because I stared at the same remnants of breakfast on the ground everyday for the entire stay. When we arrived to our room (2 queen beds), the sliding door for the closet/restroom and the sink were broken and we, subsequently, had to be placed in a different room. We packed some food to reheat and eat (so we wouldn't have to eat out so often) because a microwave was on the list of amenities. To our dismay, the room did not come with a microwave. We phoned the front desk and they said microwaves aren't available in rooms with 2 queen beds. WHAT? It came with wire baskets in a cabinet (the cheap equivalent of dressers) that didn't provide enough space for our clothing. The WIFI IS SHODDY within the rooms, the remote control had some strange squishy substance on it, and the paint was chipping away on the door. In order to flush the toilet, we had to hold the plunger down for a few seconds. Fast forward to the 1st morning, breakfast was nice. There's a good variety and the menu changes daily. Tried to relax a bit in the lobby since the wifi works the best there, but 1) it was SUPER HOT and 2) the hotel STAFF ARE INCREDIBLY NOISY. I couldn't even hear myself think with my headphones in. Front desk charged the credit card some bogus fees to which they initially claimed that they didn't and couldn't see what was charged. Eventually, the front desk said they would refund (they did). Fast forward again, room service wasn't done cleaning our room until 1pm. Meh? I go back in to rest. As I'm fluffing my pillows, I notice that there is some coppery/red residue on them. Dried blood? Who knows, but they were improperly washed for sure. The hotel is an okay distance from McKinney square, but honestly the LOCATION SUCKS. There was deranged man outside the hotel with a shopping bag, playing with a ken doll. He was throwing it in the air, putting on the bushes outside the hotel doors, and on people's vehicles outside the hotel. HELP! Please do not stay here. This was my first time at a Hampton Inn and Suites and I will NEVER stay in one again. read more

Hands down the worst hotel I've been in. The first night we found blood on the sheets on one of the beds. The next day I went to the front desk to specifically ask them to change the sheets on both beds and that we get more towels. (Housekeeping came while I was in the shower). Got back to find absolutely nothing had been done. The girl at the front desk would not call a manager, said she wasn't qualified to change the beds for us, she would only give us bedding to take up and change them ourselves. I recently stayed here. I was disappointed that when I reserved a handicap room with a walk-in shower, I did not get it. The room was supposed to be handicap but in the bathroom the bars for the bath were on the opposite wall. No bar was on the entry side to help step over the tub wall. The tub floor was slick when wet. No handicap bath seat was available either. I would love to have given a five star to James at the front desk due to his manners and help. But the room for the $$$ was a disappointment. Also while you have the complimentary breakfast going on, closing down the first floor public bathroom for cleaning should be done at a different time. It makes people have to go get their key back to use the restroom. Change the first floor cleaning schedule for non peak times. read more

We chose this hotel for the location close to a wedding venue. We have 2 teenagers and us 2 adults. They didn't have 2 queens available so we got he king suite and she assured me the pull out bed would be sufficient. It was extremely uncomfortable - could not sleep for 2 nights. They also didn't reserve our room correctly so they thought we were checking out after one night when 2 nights were reserved so our hotel key stopped working and we didn't get our room refreshed. Also - best of luck taking your chances without diarrhea with the powdered eggs if you can get them - the tray was always empty. The women's restroom downstairs was out of order and the men's room was out of toilet paper - do they have anyone monitoring this? The shower pressure .. well.. there was barely any. From the other guests I heard the walls were paper thin and heard kids screaming throughout the night. We were fortunate to not have this happen to us. Not likely to stay at a Hampton Inn again if I can avoid it. read more

Overnight stay was fine. Hotel was clean and staff friendly/helpful and location was convenient. I am not giving the hotel 5 stars for 2 reasons: (1) The continental breakfast, while free, was not much better than microwavable meals available in the frozen section at the local grocer...bread items were hard and stale, powdered eggs, cheerios, greenish sausage patties and; (2) It was a very cold night and the room unit cycled cold and then warm air all night which made for fitful sleeping. I spoke with the cashier about this and she said it was a hotel-wide problem that was being addressed. We would bundle up with socks and blankets only to wake up sweating...back and forth all night long! With that problem fixed, we would definitely stay here again! read more

We looked around the internet at reviews of hotels in McKinney, and after reading a lot of reviews, chose this hotel and booked 2 rooms for 4 nights. Much to our surprise and huge disappointment, this $800. investment (more than some peoples' rent for a month!) came with one room having a broken phone and broken tv, while the other room had a broken air conditioning system. Yet, they had the nerve to go ahead and rent out these rooms? When we complained, they moved us out of the 1 room with the air conditioning issue and did send someone to fix the tv; however, they never fixed the phone the whole time we were there and on top of that, guess what? The pool was closed because of problems. .. that's a lot of brokenness, don't you think? We just couldn't believe it! No apology, no discounts--nothing. The one-star they do rate is for their smiles; yes, all the while they were smiling and very friendly. If you want someone to smile and greet you, this is your place; otherwise don't stay here! read more
