Attended the Witches of Westgate Afternoon Tea here on a Saturday afternoon. The event is a hit. Upon arrival, the grand lobby is so beautiful. I love the blue seating area, it is immaculate. The walls and baroque decor throughout this hotel is fantastic, and just my style. The Witches Afternoon Tea was very well attended, even young girls dressed up like witches came with their moms, aunties, and grandmothers. They have a kids tea time menu also. The selection of 3 courses was nice. First Course: Assorted Tea Sandwiches Second Course: Delectable Scone with fresh whipped cream and strawberries side, Devonshire cream, and cranberry compote. Third Course: Assorted Halloween Petit Fours There were so many teas and my faves were: Earl Grey, Mango Peach, and Blueberry Merlot. They also have champagne, apple cider, apple cider mimosas, juices, and witches brew cocktail available. Beautiful time. The price is $85/person for this specialty themed tea time. The regular Westgate Afternoon Tea is $65/person. Our servers were amazing and the bartender, Bri, was AWESOME!

We went there on a Sunday and had their high tea in the lobby. Everything was delicious and the service was great. They have a lady playing harp which makes the atmosphere perfect for a relaxing and classy afternoon with the ladies. They have a good celestino of teas and. You can also request coffee if tea is not your cup of tea. No pun intended. Highly recommend.

I honestly have no complaints regarding this hotel. Super friendly staff, room was spacious and gorgeous (look at that view of the Coronado bridge), and the gym was to die for. Aquavie is a huge plus to staying here. Literally has everything you could need for a solid workout or refresh day.

I've been to a couple of the tea houses in San Diego. This one definitely takes first place for the most opulent setting! The moment I stepped foot into the hotel I could smell the fragrance of roses, and I was very impressed by all of the crystal chandeliers and the gorgeous velvet furniture. I thought that the three towers with savory and sweet offerings were fantastic. Definitely the food was top-notch. I was a little disappointed because I had called ahead and let them know that one person in my party is vegetarian and when I got there, they were not aware of that. I know it's not the server's fault and she was very apologetic, but it made our first course kind of discombobulated. My friend had to wait additional time to get a couple little sandwiches that were not meat based and they were actually just repeats of the other non-meat based items on the first tower. My personal favorite item was a little Gravalax and Caviar tart made with a little crème fraîche and some dill and placed inside of an adorable little waffle cone. The combinations of flavors and textures hit all of my senses in the right way. The teas that we got to try were very good as well, but they were out of several flavors, including the one that I really wanted to try. I went for the mango peach green tea and it was tasty. One of my friends got the raspberry herbal tea and it was the best of all of the teas that we chose to try that day. Makes me want to go back again to get some of that blueberry Merlot, herbal tea. I almost went for that and now I wish I had gotten it! Parking was very easy, underneath the hotel they have valet parking. They offer $10 for three hours if you were going to the tea and since no place to park downtown is free that's a good deal. This is definitely a tea I would return to. I'm already planning to bring my mom when she's in town next time.

I really enjoyed my stays at this hotel. I've probably stayed here three times in the past year. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. Many amenities and a very high end experience. Additionally, the best part that keeps me coming back is that you get to use the private gym next door! The gym has everything you could need and is really nice to work out in. The hotel can feel dated at times but i think it gives it a unique, classic feel and vibe. I will definitely be back when I have to stay in San Diego on business and would recommend checking it out!

Picked this hotel since it was within walking distance to concert venue I was in town for. Very nice rooftop bar and gym we were able to use during our stay. Rooms had a nice view of the city. Hotel staff was extremely friendly!

This hotel is awesome!!! It is so unbelievably cool looking inside and makes you feel fancy AF! It's equal parts fancy and spooky... felt like it could have literally walked out of the Titanic (which brings back the fancy.) The also filmed some of One Battle After Another here according to the lady at the front desk that checked us in - who was also just as awesome and absolutely hilarious. We only stayed for a night but will definitely be retuning to stay for a weekend! A must see and stay!

Beautiful hidden gem in downtown San Diego! I stayed here for a work conference and the hotel is stunning ! It reminds me of Versailles , so photogenic and there's a lovely bar, outdoor gym, and pool. Joe and Ivan were so amazing to me upon check in, I was tired from the drive and they made sure to take care of my mom and I in every aspect possible. Both were super professional and sweet, they made our stay feel like home . Sarah C. was so sweet to us as well and has exceptional service , we cannot wait to come back! Highly recommend checking out Westgate hotel!

I had my wedding at the Westgate Hotel. And my wedding was beyond my wildest dreams!!! I don't even have to words to describe the beauty of the hotel from the princess staircase to the many shining chandelier's. They also have amazing food and beautiful restaurants within the hotel. The bridal suite and getting ready rooms that came with the wedding package was so beautiful that I thought I entered a fantasy. Every corner of this hotel is absolutely stunning.

    Fantastic San Diego views

The Westgate is old school excellence. The rooms are gorgeous and incredibly comfortable, the staff is unbelievably friendly and accommodating and professional and I've always loved the bar and the restaurant. i've taken friends and relatives to the tea, which is a spectacular experience and one year I invited 20 of my friends to have tea in a private dining room for my birthday and we had the best time ever. The location is great - if you're doing anything downtown, The Westgate is definitely the place to be. I always leave feeling pampered and protected and

Took a friend here for her birthday. Her 1st time for teatime and in SD. We had lovely time overall with the decors and the live music - think of "Bridgerton", show...it reminds of a show. We valet parking which is right in-front so easy access. Great server, she was very friendly, attentive and patient with guests. Food quality wise is just aok, glad that we ordered champagnes. The price side is high for the portions and the quality plus tip is automatically added on so don't be surprised. We enjoyed it overall and glad that we checked this out and give it a try. Just lovely.

Second time here and I will always choose to come back every time I'm in the city. Staff is helpful and always on top of everything. I enjoy their gym and spa the most! The gym is always clean, sanitized. Their tea hour is so cute with a harp player, Chiara, she plays beautifully and even did the birthday song for us. They have full service vallet, also their overnight parking is $52 I believe.

I am so happy I found this place via AARP! Located in the heart of the Gaslamp District, I had never heard of this hotel prior to searching. Upon checking in, the desk clerk was very friendly, efficient, and answered any questions that I had. As for the room, he put us up on the top (4th) floor. Room is the perfect size for two people. Very clean, warm, inviting, and has some really cute and convenient amenities such as a pineapple themed USB quad port at the desk, along with a Keurig machine (had I known that I'd have brought my own Starbucks K-cups)! The bed was nice and comfy with lots of soft but supportive pillows and two separate comforter blankets so you're not fighting for covers if you are sharing the bed with someone or your significant other. Bathroom is very modern and clean. A hairdryer is hanging in the bathroom as well. The only item missing was an iron and an ironing board; however, you can request that at the front desk. If you are looking for a hotel with a gym, laundry facilities on site, and a full breakfast buffet or continental breakfast, then this place is not for you; however, if those things don't matter to you {I typically look for those types of hotels during a longer stay) then this hotel is all you need. You also get other unexpected creature comforts such as Starbucks coffee in the lounge along with 4 different blends of water as well as these cute pineapple cookies in the afternoon. Based in Seattle, WA, I am so happy I found this chain as I will be on the lookout and consider staying in other cities. Parking is available in a garage connected to the hotel next door for a fee. Also, bikes are available in the lobby for getting around (not sure if gratis or for a fee). I definitely recommend staying here! One small recommendation for the hotel: provide rooms with a small microwave and mini fridge to reheat leftovers. It all worked out as I gave a homeless guy mine.

I love that the grounds are secure and you can allow your children to go into the courtyard area and play the provided games with peace of mind- knowing that they'll be safe. They provide tons of outdoor seating options and grills for tenants, which makes cooking a breeze. In order to enter from the beach/boardwalk, you must have a room key to enter the premises- another awesome perk. This keeps all the riff-raft out of the area. &At night, they also require a room key to enter through the front of the building- which is a newer feature, and much appreciated. You can leave your beach toys & chairs outside your room without worrying about someone coming to steal it. We have locked our bikes up downstairs in the courtyard area & nobody messes with them. This is such a great place to stay & an amazing tradition that our family has. We look forward to our visit every May!

He remembered us throughout our weekend, which was a big plus in my book. While the lobby may not be as expansive as some other high-end hotels, my focus wasn't on lounging around there. I get that some reviewers might expect more amenities, but this is Downtown San Diego. The design and structure fit perfectly with the surroundings, and I personally appreciate a place that keeps the riff-raff at bay. Once we checked into our room, I found the space thoughtfully designed, and the staff promptly addressed the minor issues we encountered. Though the hotel doesn't boast a massive pool, located on the 3rd floor, the staff provided excellent food and beverage service. The gym, overlooking the pool, was well-equipped for a proper workout, and I was pleased to find that the equipment was in good condition and saw little use. The location is close to the convention center and stadium, but if you're not coming to SD for those places, I wouldn't say this is a central location. I paid an arm and a leg for the room but it was absolutely massive and I had sliding glass doors directly onto my own private patio which was right next to the pool overlooking the ocean, it was really incredible despite how outdated the room felt, somehow the size of the room made it more modern and it felt clean. The people at the front desk were young, fun, outgoing, really friendly and I appreciated that. They told me about some happy hour they were having later in the day and I felt very welcome here unlike other hotels I stayed at in the San Diego area. The bathroom was huge in my room, very weird vibe, like felt cabin-like, I don't know how else to explain it, but it was spacious, big countertop by the sink plenty of room to get ready. The coffee bar had an enormous countertop which was great for keeping all of my things, huge mirrors everywhere too. The bed was really comfortable, again great view outside, awesome staff. It was so nice to be able to walk the boardwalk and pop back in here whenever I needed to grab something or use the restroom. Walking distance to everything. Highly recommend, I would definitely stay here again. But I probably won't because the cost is INSANE. Sorry but it is. Also housekeeping found my jewelry box loaded with jewelry and returned it to the front desk who subsequently shipped it back to my house for me. For a charge of course but I do appreciate the honesty of the staff that goes a long long way! Thank you!!

Absolutely Wonderful Anniversary Getaway at the Hotel del Coronado…read more My wife and I recently celebrated our anniversary with a beautiful weekend stay at the iconic Hotel del Coronado in a King Room with an Oceanview Balcony. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel special. The two young ladies who checked us in were an absolute delight. They looked like sisters but are actually best friends, and their genuine warmth and kindness made the start of our stay so memorable. The concierge was equally fantastic, ensuring our bags were delivered quickly and that we were comfortably settled in our room. The property itself is breathtaking...! The meticulously maintained gardens and stunning California coastal location provided the perfect romantic setting. We enjoyed outstanding fine dining experiences at both Nobu del Coronado and Seréa. What truly touched us was returning to our room to find a thoughtful happy anniversary card and a small box of delicious chocolates from the front desk team. It was such a sweet and personal touch. We were genuinely sad to leave and will absolutely be returning. Thank you to the entire team at the Hotel del Coronado for making our anniversary weekend so special!

An Ocean View Villa With No Ocean View…read more We redeemed 815,000 Hilton Honors points and paid $2,941.69 for an Ocean View Villa based on the Hotel del Coronado's published promise that guests would "enjoy spectacular ocean views from your private veranda with relaxed seating." Instead, we were assigned Room 5131, a ground-floor villa whose patio faced a public courtyard with restaurant seating, guest walkways, the lobby, and a communal fire pit. In our opinion, the accommodations did not reasonably correspond to the premium Ocean View Villa that was advertised and sold. We never opened the room door, never entered the villa, never unpacked, never stayed overnight, and never used a single hotel amenity. We spent more than two and a half hours attempting to resolve the issue before leaving the property. Despite immediately rejecting the room and providing photographs and documentation, the Director of the Shore House and the General Manager David Tortora, and ultimately Hilton declined to provide the resolution we requested. The property retained our 815,000 Hilton Honors points and the $2,941.69 charged to our American Express card. The most disappointing part of this experience was not simply the room--it was the complete lack of accountability. We found management's responses dismissive of our concerns and of the hotel's own published marketing materials. After our experience, we found multiple publicly available reviews from other guests describing concerns that appeared similar to ours regarding premium room categories and advertised views. That reinforced our concern that our experience may not have been isolated. We left feeling profoundly disappointed and, in our opinion, misled by the difference between what was advertised and the accommodations we were assigned. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend staying at the Hotel del Coronado. We have submitted our documentation to the appropriate consumer protection authorities for independent review so the property's marketing and room classifications can be evaluated.
