The staff is always welcoming, the house keeping staff are friendly and trustworthy, the parking lot is gated and secured by a guard throughout the day, the rooms are always clean the grounds are well maintained, and after all the years of being loyal visitors, we have yet to experience anything negative at this property. I love that the grounds are secure and you can allow your children to go into the courtyard area and play the provided games with peace of mind- knowing that they'll be safe. They provide tons of outdoor seating options and grills for tenants, which makes cooking a breeze. In order to enter from the beach/boardwalk, you must have a room key to enter the premises- another awesome perk. This keeps all the riff-raft out of the area. &At night, they also require a room key to enter through the front of the building- which is a newer feature, and much appreciated. You can leave your beach toys & chairs outside your room without worrying about someone coming to steal it. We have locked our bikes up downstairs in the courtyard area & nobody messes with them. This is such a great place to stay & an amazing tradition that our family has. We look forward to our visit every May!

Aside from having amenities like a pool, golf, different planned activities, paddle boarding and boat rentals, Bahia is also across the street from Belmont store and walking distance to some hole in the walls to visit. I've had maybe one mix up when booking, but they did alright trying to make the situation better. Altogether, I've always felt like service here was okay. The rooms are not super modern, but being able to be beachfront really is such a special bonus for me that I see myself coming to visit time and time again. It's great for a staycation, or if you have any nearby San Diego visits on your itinerary.

Big shoutout to the coffee shop--it serves the kind of coffee parents need before another day of "Dad, watch this!" The sea lions are great to see every day as well. Overall, we'd happily stay here again. Great location, kid-friendly, and full of vacation memories. Just don't be surprised if the A/C tries to join the conversation. Also if you get the suite on the beach like we had , avoid being near the bonfires. It smokes out the entire place regardless of whether the windows are closed.

They even upgraded us to the Presidential Suite for free, which was such a nice surprise! The suite was HUGE with a full kitchen, dining and living room, Murphy bed, pullout couch, and our own private patio right by the pool. The rooms are definitely dated and could use a remodel, but the resort itself is beautiful. Tons of tropical landscaping, palms, koi ponds, and a very Hawaiian feel. The pool was a little chilly, but the jacuzzi was great. You can walk right out to the water and boardwalk, and we brought our bikes and rode all around the bay. We also enjoyed the complimentary cookies and cider at check-in, had great breakfast and dinner at the restaurant, and used the spa, which was incredibly relaxing but definitely pricey. The dated rooms are really the only thing holding the hotel back. Between the beautiful resort, location, amazing staff, and unexpected upgrade, it was still a 5-star experience for us! Fortunately, we found front desk manager Liz Garcia and she's the only person we came across that understood actual customer service. Pleasantly said she would see what could be done, and made it happen even though it wasn't her department. Lastly, we booked an oceanfront front suite - only to get a completely outdated dampy room that wasn't worth the twelve hundred a night we had to pay. No ocean view as we were completely obstructed by weddings and baby showers they book on the grass in between the hotel and water. Also, these very loud parties go into the evenings. Oceana restaurant extremely slow service for mediocre food. Will not return. Stay elsewhere.

Valentien, where our waiter, Ryan, and the entire staff were attentive, welcoming, and provided outstanding service. The food was absolutely delicious, light, fresh, and beautifully prepared. We also enjoyed breakfast at The Grill. My 9-year-old son absolutely loved the pancakes, while my husband and I both ordered omelets that were incredibly flavorful and perfectly cooked. Every meal we had was excellent. One of our favorite parts of the stay was relaxing by the pool and enjoying the gorgeous views. The hotel also made the Fourth of July extra special for families by hosting a fun celebration with crafts, cookies and lemonade, cookie decorating, and kites for the kids to fly. Our son had the best time, and we loved the warm, family-friendly atmosphere. The valet staff were also wonderful: friendly, helpful, and always greeted us with a smile. This was truly a memorable stay, and we can't wait to return next year. The manager Isabel went above and beyond to make me feel special and I truly did. All the staff were so kind from the moment we walked in and made us feel right at home. Shortly after getting to our room, Isabel sent a charcuterie board, chips with salsa and guac, and a sparkling non alcoholic cider to the room with a very sweet note. It was incredibly thoughtful and so appreciated. After that we all had a very relaxing time at the spa, and I had a great prenatal massage. As we were leaving the spa they gave me a little goodie bag as a congratulations which made my heart melt. The rooms were so cozy and clean and the beds were very comfy. We all woke up refreshed the next day and some of us even made it to yoga! I am so grateful to have had my babymoon here and grateful to Isabel for truly making it an experience I'll never forget. We loved it so much my friend bought my baby a little Lodge at Torrey Pines onesie from the gift shop! I have since had my baby and every time she wears it, it reminds me of our great weekend at the lodge. I now recommend staying here to all of our friends. The housekeeping staff, particularly Maggie, consistently exceeded our expectations. Her attention to detail ensured that our room was immaculately maintained throughout our stay. We ate breakfast at Marina kitchen they have a great breakfast buffet, and the waitresses will take your orders if you order like a omelette or any eggs it would be prepared for your satisfaction and some of the people that waited on us was Kathy and Kara very polite and very helpful. We look forward to seeing our favorite Jonathan. and Maurice. My sister told one of waiters could he go back in the kitchen and tell Maurice and Jonathan that Texas was in the house? It was so funny they knew exactly who she was and Jonathan came out to greet us. Maurice was not at work that day so we saw him the next day when we went down for breakfast. We always have a good time and everything is always so pleasant.

The rooms are beautiful and comfortable, and ours offered a wonderful view of the bay and even the ocean beyond, with a clear view of Point Loma. Down below was Roy's Restaurant and the pool area. While our bay view king room did not have a balcony, the window did have the ability to slightly open if we wanted to hear the sounds or get some fresh air. With the window closed, the room was very quiet, so we had no noise issues. We also didn't hear noise from any neighbors, with the exception of the occasional person talking the hall or letting a room door close. Though the beds were not the most comfortable we've ever had, they were comfortable enough for both of us, though the pillows weren't my favorite because they were the kind of feather pillows you need to bunch up so they aren't too thin. They aren't very soft or spongy. Nonetheless, I was able to sleep on them sufficiently well. We can be a little picky about beds and getting good sleep, and we slept fine. Unfortunately, like many hotels, the sink, toilet, and shower/tub are all in one room, making it less convenient for two people to be doing things at the same time, especially since there is only one sink. There was a decent amount of lighting and space for toiletry items. We had no major complaints about the room, but we did have a broken toilet paper fixture in the bathroom on the wall next to the toilet that resulted in the toilet paper falling on the floor several times. Service was super friendly, but it was difficult to reach the front desk at times without a very long wait on the phone. When I called down to request a luggage rack for the room, I was told someone would bring one up, but it never came. I had to walk to the front desk to ask for one, which was later delivered. They do have an automated attendant that lets you request a limited number of items, and I was able to request a robe for my wife that way. While we were there, the elevators were a problem for a lot of people. For part of the time we were there, some in our tower were not working, causing relatively long waits for the remaining elevators and sometimes multiple stops on the way down or up at peak use times. The hotel said they were working on it, and things did seem to improve a little by the time we checked out. The property itself is beautiful and laid out well for its limited space in this part of town. Once inside, and even outside when walking the grounds near the pool, you are in a bit of a protected oasis that doesn't make you feel like you are sandwiched between the bay and the street out front. We ate outside every day with the conference, and the area we were in was super pleasant. There are a number of restaurants on property, but since we were usually eating with the conference, we didn't have time to try any except for the Marketplace. It was very expensive for most items, but the quality was really good, and we never had much of a wait. They serve Starbucks coffee here, but you can probably save a bit of money if you get that (or mobile order) from the on-site Starbucks, which is in a different part of the building. The food served at the conference was of good quality. If you go to many conferences, you'll find it to be competitive with any of the better resorts, though, in my opinion and as one might expect, it doesn't outshine the Ritz-Carlton or certain J.W. Marriott facilities. The food service staff for the conference were excellent, helpful, and fast. The hotel is in a very convenient area downtown on the bay next to the San Diego Convention Center. Traffic in the short distance between here and the freeway can be bad depending on time of day or events happening at either the convention center, downtown, or at Petco Park, where the Padres play, but the distance is short enough for it not to be much of a headache in most cases. I doubt you'll find very many cities with access this easy from the hotel to the airport and all of the local attractions, including, in this case, the Gaslamp District, Little Italy, Coronado, the bayside attractions, Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo, and more. Hotel parking is expensive, of course, so if you don't really need a car, I highly recommend using Uber or Lyft or walking to get around to the nearest things. Overall, I would certainly stay here again, and I do highly recommend this hotel if you are attending a conference or vacationing in this part of the city and can afford the price point.

Staff says I check in a lot of people I don't remember you. After a little bit more discussion, she says your luggage is right over there confirming she did remember us. A little bit more petty bickering from Marriott employees than I'm used to and reluctance and resistance to take accountability for not providing up to Marriott standard service she gives us our room. It's not the room that we paid for which was a Bay Harbor view not a pool view. We are too tired and in a little bit in a hurry now to get to our restaurant reservation for the night My wife turns on the bathwater and it's coming out brown I go to see staff again. They say that an engineer will come up. I'm thinking to myself how an engineer will fix this brown water coming out of the tap. I go back down and speak with management. They change our room. I will never come back here. On a sidenote, the engineer told my wife the brown color was disinfectant. Apparently our new room didn't have any disinfectant in the bathwater.

Historically, Bonvoy properties upgrade based on status and the fact that we have a Bonvoy credit card We arrived at the hotel and there was commotion at the valet. My husband ended up needing to move our car himself a few times as they were understaffed. We asked for a bellman and no one was available. They offered us a luggage cart so my husband unloaded our luggage. Odd start to the trip. Upon checkin, our rooms weren't ready and we were informed that the hotel is at 98% capacity so no upgrades would be honored. We asked if there was any way to have a room with a view of the water or above the ground floor, and the front desk clerk stated because we booked a room with points, they wouldn't be able to. I could tell the woman was not one worth arguing with just based on her demeanor. I was truly insulted. We have been loyal Bonvoy members for over a decade. We earned a points stay based on our loyalty. If anyone deserved an upgrade, it was a Bonvoy member using points. Later, we received our room keys and our rooms were horrible. They faced motorhomes and were very dark, on the first floor. We shared that we were only there for one night, and would like a room with a different view as the motorhome situation was really killing the vacation vibe. The woman (different woman than who initially checked us in) said if we pay $50 they can give us an ocean view. Hmmm, so they were at 98% capacity... but if we paid $50 we could be upgraded? Again, I was not in the mood to argue after a 2 hour drive, taking care of a baby, etc. We moved into our new rooms. The view was better (than the motor home), but honestly the room were disappointing and very dark. The property itself looked tired. They were very focused on selling timeshares. The pool was PACKED. There weren't enough servers. No one even asked us if we would like drinks or snacks. The towels were provided through a kiosk operated with our room key. Honestly, for a Marriott property, they were really pushing it... I have stayed at Courtyard Inns with better service. To top it off, as we were preparing to leave (about 14 hours after checking in), we called to ask for plastic bags for our wet swimsuits and were informed no one was working yet, so we would need to wait. I have stayed at many Bonvoy properties: some that were more luxurious, others for business, and others that were standard... none have had service this disappointing.

The resort has a private beach area on the bay and you can rent bikes, kayaks, canoes or jet ski to ride along the bay. We rented a three person two pedal covered bike and rode along the bay to two different parks. There are kid friendly activities throughout the day like mat Pilates, ceramics or clay figures and in the evening you can watch a film on a projector in front of the fire pit. Everyday is something different. There are live bands at the neighboring bar on the property. You can also make a fire pit on the sand. The pool is nice and spacious, there are hot tubs and unlimited towels via a dispenser machine and sunblock for free. You have to come here and enjoy this resort when in Mission Bay watching the sunrise.

I had stayed at SD Mission Bay Resort for work and was so impressed that I convinced 14 of my closest friends and family members to stay here for one of the biggest weekends of my life. Our group spent well over $10,000 at the resort between rooms, restaurants, drinks, pool service, parking, and other purchases. Unfortunately, the weekend was one disappointment after another. The issues started immediately and never seemed to stop: * I was promised a bottle of Prosecco that never arrived, despite asking **four different employees** throughout our stay. * We experienced significant check-in issues because the primary person on our reservation was delayed, and there seemed to be very little communication or flexibility regarding our group reservation. * The parking gate and key system rarely worked correctly, making every trip in and out unnecessarily frustrating. * One room had a soaking wet floor and bed upon arrival. * I encountered a bathroom attendant who was surprisingly rude during what should have been a celebratory weekend. * On our final day, I was locked out of my room while we were trying to prepare for departure. * Most frustrating of all, we experienced a complete billing and payment fiasco. Because we had 14 people staying in four villa rooms, we worked out the financial arrangements before arriving. We specifically discussed billing with staff and were repeatedly assured that the credit cards on file would **not** be charged because we had already determined how expenses would be handled. That isn't what happened. Unexpected charges began appearing on cards that should never have been charged, creating complete chaos. Instead of enjoying time together, members of our group were trying to determine who had been billed, who still owed money, and how to untangle a situation that should have been straightforward. For a group this large, financial planning doesn't happen casually. We had already done the work before we arrived, which is why this breakdown in communication was so frustrating. What was most disappointing wasn't any single issue. It was the constant feeling that there was **always another problem**. Every time we thought something had been resolved, something else went wrong. It also became clear that communication among staff was severely lacking. We repeatedly found ourselves explaining the same situations to different employees because information simply wasn't being shared. Your bachelorette only happens once. I chose this resort because I wanted a seamless, relaxing weekend to simply enjoy time with my closest friends and family. Instead, I spent much of the weekend troubleshooting avoidable problems. Our room was a full king size bed with a living room and two full bathrooms with closets included. We also had an extra door to come in and out of as we pleased. We had a balcony that we enjoyed our pastry breakfast on the first full day there. It was nice to be back at the adults only pool, and we were helped by a nice server named Paige. Every day, she brought us water and our alcoholic choices. We also enjoyed a delicious hamburger, and guac and chips. On a short walk to the other pool, we enjoyed the tacos from the cantina and they were very impressive. One mushroom, carne asada and chicken street taco. Logan and the guys there were nice to find us and bring our lunch. From ten to almost 4, we spent a day, relaxing, playing crosswords, and betting on the ponies at Del Mar from the comfort of the pool. It was again a relaxing weekend with a little mix of celebrating with two bottles of champagne. A special thanks to the room service crew bringing us ice a number of times. It kept the bubbly cold and my wife with ice for her Pepsis when we ordered in at night. Juan again helped us check out and the guys at the valet got us going home. Overall a great visit and we look forward to going back. Maybe for our 1st year perhaps? Mike and the guys at the valet.

We attended the Mother's Day tea party event at Fairmont Grand Del Mar. The event was the most…read moreexpensive tea party event in San Diego County and so my expectation was admittedly high. Pros: - the facility itself is impressive and the grounds were well kept - the live musician was talented and even engaged with some kids dancing up front - some of the small bites were quite good including 1 of the 4 savories and most of the sweet eats Cons: - the service was atrocious. The timing and attentiveness of service was some of the worst I've had. And this is unreal because that is essentially what you are paying for on a Mother's Day tea party - service and attentiveness. I couldn't believe for an establishment such as this that the management would accept the awful service. - Timing: We were seated ~30min past our seating time. We were not spoken to for the first ~15min after seating. They didn't adjust the sun umbrella until ~20 min after seating. The food took a forever back and forth due to issues (see below). Then to get our required valeted car - the line was over a 45 min wait (the line occupied the entire front of the hotel)! - Attentiveness: We were seated in the direct sun despite requesting to not be. We informed them of a walnut allergy for one of my kids via the OpenTable reservation. Then we had to inform the host as we were seated because they didn't know. The host wrote it on the back of a ticket. The waiter picked up the ticket. Then the person came to get our tea and he asked if we had any allergies. We mentioned the walnuts which he had no idea. Then, they brought us out food with walnuts!! haha. Unreal. We informed the delivering waiter (a different one than the rest). They took the kids tray away and then finally delivered a tray for our kids that had about half the original quantity. They didn't even serve the whole course to the non-allergic child. It was unbelievably inconsiderate. You can imagine how happy our Mom was on her special day as we all sat wondering what would happen to the kids food. - Tea: It was nothing special with one completely bitter. Never again. Advise to avoid on Mother's Day and go anywhere else.
