Over $1,700 (Gratuity was included) for 8 people is INSANE! Yes there was a few drinks between some of us, not all of us had any cocktails. We should have just ate the bar there. We just got back from our second stay at Rancho Bernardo Inn, and it was just as amazing as the first--if not better. We came back with our now 9 year old along with 4 and 5-year-olds, and the experience felt so thoughtful from the start. The bellman was genuinely kind and welcoming (not in a forced way), which set the tone right away. The hotel also paid attention to a note I left ahead of time--our room was near the pool, and the kids were surprised with tents, s'mores kits, plus a welcome fruit board and San Pellegrino. The room was well maintained and clean (and I'm picky about cleanliness), and the overall vibe of the property is charming with a Spanish-style feel--warm and inviting without feeling outdated. Service was great across the board. Even when we had a small issue, it was handled quickly and professionally. The family pool was perfect for the kids, and we loved that there were quieter pool options for adults too. Housekeeping was also very attentive and consistent. The front desk experience with Hannah was extremely disappointing. From the beginning, she came across as rude, dismissive, and not willing to help. We asked her for assistance with a few things during our stay, but the requests were either not handled or not followed through on. We ended up having to call again to ask for the same things, which made the whole process frustrating and unnecessary. The front desk is usually the first impression of a property, and unfortunately Hannah's attitude and lack of follow-through made the start of our experience feel unprofessional and poorly managed. I remember way back when when the village of Rancho Bernardo did not exist at all, and was simply open and barren land off the 15 Freeway. You now exit Rancho Bernardo Road and proceed eastward to about the second or third light. At that intersection, you make a left turn. Thereafter, you travel along a quiet and residential street of pretty houses all the way to the end of the street, which ends in a cul de sac at the gated entrance to the Rancho Bernardo Inn. I love the architecture of the Rancho Bernardo Inn. It is very 1970's interpretation of Spanish baronial hacienda, and it works and seems fresh and modern, depite being over 50 years old. I did a day pass through Resort Pass. It was a good experience. I was at the adult pool. Thank goodness there is an adult pool. I ordered the BLTA which was delicious. The fries were salted perfectly. The bread was buttery, the ranch was creamy. I'd order this again. I also got a lemonade which was standard. For the pool, you to have to call a number to get service. It takes about 20-30 mins for the delivery. So expect a drink to take a while to come to you. It's a nice option though could be nicer if a server walked by occasionally to check in. There's a few umbrellas but not that many. Good selection of menu items. Parking was ok. They have a lot. It was full so I ended up parking in the neighborhood which was a 5 min walk. I didn't necessarily mind this since I'm used to a parking in central San Diego which is always terrible lol. read more

Update: This morning, my husband called to try to make a tennis reservation, and fortunately they were able to fit him in at noon, even though it is Martin Luther King Jr. weekend. The receptionist did note that they typically prefer more than 24 hours' notice, which is important to keep in mind, especially if you're only staying one or two nights or checking in later in the day. Regarding the spa, after expressing how much we wanted a day pass, we were told the spa would call us in the morning as soon as they opened if any passes became available. Unfortunately, we never received that call, so we followed up ourselves. At that point, we were told they couldn't take any payments because their system was down. I suggested charging it to the room, and after some back-and-forth, they said they could--but only at the holiday rate of $140 per person when the hotel receptionist had previously told us the rate would be $69 per person and never mentioned holiday pricing. After the hotel intervened and acknowledged the pricing discrepancy, they honored the $69 rate. In the end, we were able to access both the tennis courts and the spa, but only after a significant amount of back-and-forth and clarification. It was far from straightforward and did not match how seamlessly these amenities are marketed. If you are booking this property specifically for the spa or tennis, be prepared to reserve everything well in advance and know that these amenities are not directly managed by the hotel, which can lead to delays and confusion. Access is not guaranteed simply by staying here. I do want to specifically call out Chloe, who was instrumental in helping us secure both the tennis and spa reservations. Without her help, we likely would not have been accommodated at all. While we ultimately enjoyed the amenities, the process was frustrating and stressful, especially during a holiday weekend. Clearer communication and better coordination would go a long way in setting accurate expectations for guests. Rancho Bernardo Inn is always a gem hidden within a residential neighborhood of Rancho Bernardo. I have stayed there several times before (rooms are clean, and beds are comfortable) and have eaten at Verandah Grill and Avant countless times over the years (both very good). It also has a nice spa which I have also visited many times (it is tucked away which requires a bit of walking down and up a slope; the spa is a bit dated but clean). Over the Christmas holidays, the hotel has an amazing life-size gingerbread house or village. That is a must see! The staff is always professional and accommodating, and the service is good. Parking can be challenging at times, which may require you to park on residential street or overflow parking at nearby clubhouse at times. There is valet available as well. read more

Pricey but if you are going to make use of the facilities, appreciate the grounds and the lay out of this hotel then it is worth your money. We had a very spacious double queen bed looking out onto the golf course. It was quiet enough for us to sleep with the window open and benefit from the fresh air brought in by the light rain. Our room was super clean with a large bathroom. Front desk was responsive and the different type of food services around the resort hotel make it easy to navigate for families. There is a family pool and a secluded adult pool. There were two weddings and two conventions during our three days stay and it member felt overcrowded or that we were spoiling someone else's event. Very nice and clean resort. My fiancé and I drove in from Irvine to stay here for a few nights. I used AMEX so that upgraded our room to a suite facing the golf course. The resort is very well kept and clean, the grounds are older but you can tell they do a good job with upkeep. My fiancé went to the spa and got a facial, she said it was a great experience. The breakfast was really good, everything is fresh from their Chefs Garden. The only complaint I have would be the self parking which they charge 40 dollars a night for and on the weekends it took 25 minutes to find a spot after 8pm because of the restaurant, golf and weddings. The room I booked had a balcony but no elevator so they gave us a room on the first floor as we couldn't do stairs due to a health issue. This is very sad. We have been coming here for 30 years, and our visit to the Veranda was quite disappointing. They now serve wine in breakfast juice glasses instead of quality wine glasses. The sangria was so bitter it was not drinkable. The Pinot Noir was not much better. I had the seared, striped bass, which was good, but I had to go through 4 sets of flatware to find a dinner fork instead of a salad fork. The kitchen was unable or unwilling to make adjustments for food allergies, so we had to settle for what little was available. I can no longer recommend this establishment to anyone. Our daughter's wedding was in late February 2026. With a 5 month engagement, planning had to move quickly. JENNY RHYMES (Catering Sales & Services Manager) was wonderful to work with. She is friendly, knowledgeable, sweet, on time, and responds to emails and phone calls within 24 hours. Without Jenny the rehearsal and wedding would not have been so seamless. Everything about the wedding far exceeded our expectations. Ease of parking, signage, food, ambiance, guest rooms, and the overall feel was exactly what my daughter and her husband had dreamed of. If I could give negative stars etc. Do not stay here. Especially during the summer. You literally have to get the on site facilities team to override the motion detector that turns off your AC when you're not in the room. So, if you leave for dinner and expect to come back to a nice cool room to fall asleep in, it's not going to happen. Now it's almost 11pm and we're waiting for the room to cool down (it's at 80 stifling degrees) so I can get up for a business meeting in 6 hours. There are also no elevators, which is insane. So I hope you like dragging your baggage up 4 flights of stairs. How and why I couldn't tell you. There's also no signage to tell you what building you're in, so that's a fun guessing game. Hotel staff entered for turndown service and maintenance (latter without telling us). We returned to find everything gone. No forced entry. No resolution. We filed a report and even spoke directly with the general manager, who acknowledged their staff entered the room during that exact time , but took no accountability or compassion for the fact that we were the wedding couple and had a big group staying with us. No support. Just argued with us. (We had stayed here the year before and had items discarded, only to have housekeeping come and apologize after we complained... they had this on file so we are not just making things up). We decided to give the place another try... our mistake. We filed a police report in the end. Zero empathy. Zero hospitality for a luxury resort, that claims to offer everything. Really bad service this trip I have stayed here 3 to 5 times. I am a local. We decided on a last-minute stay and called the hotel directly to book. Reservations promised me a room that was not available. They also made a bunch of notes with my requests, yet no one ever called or followed up or honored these requests. I had to follow up myself a second or third time. When I checked the next morning on one of my requests, I was told "no" by two different people at the front desk. After being given the runaround and contacting the front desk for a fourth time, they finally honored my request. This became a pattern. We noticed we had to ask for something two or three times before the same person finally said yes. I went to the spa pool and was never serviced. No one asked if I wanted a drink. I eventually left because I was not getting service. We dined at Avant and were unimpressed. The chef is doing too much. I sent back 2 cocktails and was embarrassed to send back a 3rd cocktail. My husband's drink was served with a giant fly in it. There were so many large flies where we sat (corner of the patio) we were fighting them off of our food. We were not impressed by the food and left to order room service. I called room service to order from the in-room dining menu, only to be told that what I wanted was not on the menu, despite it clearly being listed on the "Inn Room Dining Menu". I was then told I could only order from the Veranda menu for in-room dining. I asked if they could add pickles to my cheese burger and was told "no we do not have pickles in the kitchen." He said it was related to the different chefs and their different things they were trying to achieve with their respective menus and things get lost in sauce. Housekeeping came in to clean while we were out on our patio. She was extremely brief and left before taking the trash, and before we could even tip her. Upon checkout, I had to call the hotel twice to order a bellhop. The bellhop never showed up. We had to carry all of our bags all the way to reception ourselves in two trips. The resort is loaded with hidden and excessive charges. There are multiple taxes and fees for nearly everything. Each night's rate includes two to three different taxes plus a resort fee. Each meal has its own price plus two different taxes or surcharges and a tip. We checked in with plenty of cash for tips and left with all of it because no one gave us any service worth tipping. read more

Booked RB Inn at the last minute when I needed a place to stay after an emergency room visit at a local hospital. I'd remembered being interested in Rancho Bernardo Inn when actually PLANNING a trip to this lovely area of California. I hadn't had any sleep the night before and was really hoping to be able to lie down and nap, well before the traditional check in time. But I wasn't that hopeful. However, they accommodated my early check in request and I was so psyched! In fact, the entire check-in experience was pleasant and helpful. That act ALONE won me over. But by no means did it end there. The room itself is GREAT. Honestly, I know this is a really nice resort but my expectations were still exceeded. Just the simple main level room, but so much to like. Two padded chairs and a table outside the room, on the little patio outside the room. Clean clean clean. Really comfortable bed, nice pillows, mattress perfect hardness for me (a LITTLE firm). Table and two chairs, REALLY nice sized refrigerator (you don't have to cram your wine into the traditional mini-fridge), yet another comfortable chair with a nice reading light, HUGE flat screen TV, plenty of drawer space, great bathroom (good water pressure in the shower, convenient wall-mounted body wash/shampoo and conditioner), plenty of space, plenty of USB outlets. NO complaints about the room. Valet guys were great too. I'm not even a golfer but I enjoyed looking at the course and the landscaping. You know, an unfortunate circumstance brought me to Rancho Bernardo Inn, but I like this place so much, I'm gong to plan a future visit here specifically. I frequently put together weekend trips for my girlfriends, and this past weekend, 50 of us descended on the Rancho Bernardo Inn. We worked with the hotel's staff to arrange for rooms, to reserve space for our exercise classes, to block space for the meals we would be eating collectively there, and to select menus for those meals. The check-in process was a breeze, and all of the spaces were as promised. Many of my friends took advantage of the spa, and were pleased with the services there, as well. WHY WE WENT HERE: - wedding THE LOOK (FROM THE OUTSIDE): - extensive grounds; parking seemed like when you attempt to go to the mall during Christmas time; each day we were here (wedding rehearsal and wedding itself) there was either a golf competition and/or another wedding taking place as well - golf course onsite - bride's and groom's rooms were located off the parking lot to the Greens building - the "getting ready" room was in the Gardens building in Andalucia I past the lobby - the wedding ceremony took place in the North Lawn - the cocktail hour took place in between the North Lawn and the Catalina Ballroom - the reception took place in the Catalina Ballroom THE LOOK (FROM THE INSIDE): - bride's room was very nice; just not a fan personally of pocket doors (restroom) - there was a balcony off the room so she/we got good shots/videos for the getting ready portion - Andalucia I we weren't anticipating being so far from the bride's room (she wasn't sure until after the fact if she could have requested her room to be in the Gardens building for ease); so it was definitely a trek to continuously walk/run back and forth from the chaos of the wedding day; we were also informed we wouldn't have access to the room (no time constraints specified) all day so we made sure to keep on putting our belongings back in the bride's room; we honestly could have kept everything there until after the ceremony so we could have easily just taken everything out and then had a shorter distance walk to our loved ones for the cocktail hour and reception to put underneath our respective ballroom tables prior to our grand entrance - the area that the cocktail hour took place was very nice! loved the bar and fireplace and a lot of congregating areas for the various guests - Catalina Ballroom was nice as well! loved the variation of the banquet tables and the round table seating; bar and photo booth were able to be comfortably placed in the corners as well; the bathrooms were very clean and spacious read more

We had Thanksgiving dinner buffet. We initially thought it would be held at The Avant restaurant on the property. We previously had Sunday Brunch at Advant which was spectacular. However, the event was held in their Ball Room. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. We spent about $400.00 for the two of us. The food was tepid; all of it! Frankly, I was shocked at the quality of the food. The venue was disappointing. I will say, the staff were amazing and attentive. I would not recommend this type of event here. So there are some truths to the reviews on this page and there are some people who are just pissed off because of a bad situation. Well guess what Shit Happens and I know that feeling of paying a boatload of money and stuff not going my way but don't blame the horse for a bad jockey. Now with that being said Rancho Bernardo is a great resort but it is also an Inn and that's feeling you get when you're there. That's the design of the hotel and that's what it comes across when you visit. It feels really homey. People have mentioned it is an old hotel but it does have a lot of character and it is also an inn. The service is great I never had a bad experience with any of the staff the valets are awesome the banquet staff should get the Presidential Medal of Freedom for being so awesome. You also have to keep in mind why yes this place is expensive every single resort in San Diego is almost exactly the same price per night and includes a similar fee structure. It is not cheap to stay at a resort anymore and trust me I'm right there with ya I want the best bang for my Buck but now a days it's hard to find that anywhere. With that being said I think this resort is for people who just want a weekend getaway, host an event, have a romantic weekend, or maybe just a quick vacation I think this place is designed for that. The location is nestled back into a neighborhood which makes it super quiet at night and really easy to get a good nights rest. Also golf there is incredible with full service amenities, and a cafe you can grab a sandwich or snack at and have a couple of beers at the bar. We recently had our wedding here and we had a morning wedding which turned out to be awesome and way better than an evening wedding due to lighting and costs. Our guests enjoyed the wedding then afterwards headed to the bar and our suite to catch up with one another. We also had our wedding in an off peak time so there was not as many people on property which is amazing and provided us for more options with the ceremony and reception. The sales and marketing team helped us out big time with cost breakdowns and different venue locations. Also what was great is that our guest did not have to leave the resort to get food and we didn't have to cater any food into the resort as it was prepared on site. This comes in extremely handy when your wedding guest like a drink or two and don't have to drive anywhere and can just get a room at the inn. #dontdrinkanddrive Rancho Bernardo Inn did a fantastic job serving us and we thank them for that, I know a lot of negative press happens in the yelp reviews but really this place is spectacular and all 80+ of our guests had 0 complaints and are willing to come back for family events. Veranda Restaurant- what a joke. i ordered the bass. size of fish was ok. very salty. no sauce, no presentation. it came with a tablespoon of some kind of blended vegetable spread on the plate, with 5 broccoli pieces. that was it. $34. it cost them $3 to make that. I can make better food at home. and i'm not a chef. very disappointing. underwhelming. what a waste of money. read more

Rancho Bernardo is an interesting spot. We visit a lot of resort/golf-type spots for work, and on first glance, RB falls into the "past its glory days" category -- a bit dated, not super stylish, etc. But after a few days there, we found a lot to like. Staff was consistently friendly and helpful, and where the facilities sometimes fell short in newness/style, they ended up excelling in actual comfort and usefulness. Our room wasn't anything close to the leading edge of style, but had more useful space and organization than most newer resorts we stay in. RB's not a big resort at all, which means it was easy to get where you wanted to be. And while there were a couple of misses, the in-house restaurant food was generally quite good. If you're looking to hang with the Beautiful People, this likely isn't your place. For a few chill days, though, it ain't bad... read more

The inn is great. I came to leave a review of one of venues they had. It was law-di-gras. I'm one of the residents near the club and my home was shaking due to the event. Very unpleasant and difficult to fall asleep. I walked down and found out they finish at 10 it was still nerve racking. Would have been nice to receive a warning. Last month my husband and I spent a wonderful 4 days at Rancho Bernardo. Our Adult son and his wife flew in from NY and joined us. We all loved our stay! The inn was renovated a couple of years ago. There are many updated, contemporary touches, yet it still maintains its old-world charm which is what we were hoping for. The public spaces are very attractive and peaceful, the grounds are gorgeous, and our lovely room was spacious and comfortable with a balcony overlooking the golf course. We enjoyed playing golf, eating leisurely breakfasts at the inn's outdoor patio restaurant (overlooking the golf course), and swimming in one of their 3 lovely pools. We had some special needs and Hailey, the guest services manager, went above and beyond the call of duty to assist us. Everyone should have an employee like Hailey! We couldn't recommend the Rancho Bernardo Inn enough! My boyfriend surprised me here with our engagement and it was nothing short of amazing. The staff was beyond accommodating to all of the asks he had to make sure the proposal was perfect. They helped order the local roses and set up our room beautifully with petals and champagne. Our room was stunning and then we enjoyed a delicious dinner at their restaurant. Our server was incredible and every member of the staff made us feel so celebrated! Truly a 10/10 stay! read more
