I am on the road at least once a month, and this is the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. When I came to the front desk, there was a large group checking in. One of the clerks offered to check me in and the other person at the front desk who, as it turns out was the manager, told this desk clerk, "Don't worry about HIM right now we have this group to check-in." Maybe a greeting such as, "Sir, please be patient for a minute. We are checking in a group" would have made me feel like more of a welcome guest. When the manager finally got around to addressing me, she said without explanation, "I'm going to move you across the street to the Hampton Inn." I figured that was fine, since I have gold status with Hilton. She got in her car and led me across the street to the Springhill Suites. When I asked about the Hampton, she said, don't worry, this is a newer hotel. Don't worry, it's the same price." Except, it was not. They did not even show a reservation for me, and the desk clerk at the Springhill Suites got ready to charge me $270 for 1 night. When I explained that my whole visit was supposed to be under $500 for 3 nights, he got on the phone with the Holiday Inn Express. 5 minutes later, I said the heck with it and walked out. It turns out the Hampton Inn in Camden was full, so I wound up having to get a room in Clemson. Two hours later, the manager from Holiday Inn called me to say, if I still needed a room, she had one. Thanks, but no thanks. I spent 35 years working in customer service for an airline, and I knew what was expected of me when I was serving the public. The manager of the Holiday Inn Express in Camden could stand to have a little refresher course on how to treat their customers and make them want to return.

When I had checked in, they were bragging about how they had finished remodeling the hotel, but I…read moredon't think they ever cleaned up all of the debris from the remodel. The backside of the hotel is borderline a trash dump, they have an outdoor area for I'm assuming pets because it has turf, but there is more garbage and cardboard boxes and refuse out there. The rooms are not functional, they are more fashionable as there are no drawers or shelving to put any clothing items. Also they're not clean. I stay in a lot of hotels for work and I have noticed a huge decline in cleanliness within the past year. The hotel provided shampoo and conditioner had dirt all around it, so did the shower head area, and there were dirty fingerprints on the back of my bathroom door that were there when I first checked in, so I know it's not from me. When I went to check out, I stood in front of the desk for about 10 minutes as I could hear someone in the staff room, coughing, and no one came to help me. I rang the little bell. Still, no one came. It wasn't until another employee walked through the front door and saw me waiting to be helped that they alerted the employee in the back and I know that there are security cameras on me because I can see the security footage TV so they definitely knew I was standing there.

I would not stay here again. Room#103 was Infested with…read moreroaches, the owner knew about the situation and still assigned the room to us. I believe we were victims of price gouging because of hurricane Helene .The microwave was extremely dirty, ironing board was rusty,as was the towel rack. They did move my family.

As a Marriott Titanium Elite member and frequent road warrior, I spend a significant portion of my…read morelife in hotels across the country. Because of that, I rarely write negative reviews unless the experience is truly unacceptable. Unfortunately, my stay here was one of the worst I have experienced in years. I was assigned a room around lunchtime, and when I arrived to check in later, I politely asked the front desk agent, Sonya, if a room on a higher floor might be available. She told me the hotel was oversold and that nothing else was available. She then suggested moving me to an older Hampton Inn nearby, which I declined since I had already been assigned a room at this property and needed to remain close to the hospital where I was on call. When I went up to the assigned room, it was clearly not cleaned. The bed was unmade, and the bathroom was dirty, appearing as though the previous guest had just left. I returned to the front desk to inform Sonya. Instead of addressing the issue professionally, she accused me of "messing up the room." She then stated she needed to go inspect the room "to see what I did." I have never in my years of travel been accused of something like this by hotel staff. After inspecting the room, she eventually called the manager, Indera. During that time, I mentioned that if the hotel truly was sold out, I would need to find another hotel. At that point, Sonya stated that she had another room available and offered me one on the highest floor. I then asked, "I thought you said the hotel was sold out?" After that question, Sonya became verbally hostile and even refused to give me the key cards for the new room. I asked to speak to the manager. Instead of coming to the desk, Indera called me on the phone and immediately began screaming at me, claiming I had been rude and that she had been watching and listening to me on video from the back room. I asked her multiple times to come out and speak with me in person, but she refused and continued yelling. In the middle of this call, she started yelling about how the hotel was not required to give me a bottle opener. I explained multiple times that I had never asked for a bottle opener. She continued yelling until I repeated again that I had not requested one. At that point she said, "Oh, I must have you confused with another angry person," and then hung up on me. Only after this entire exchange was I finally given my room keys. Unfortunately, the problems did not end there. The replacement room was also dirty, with trash on the floor and a dirty bathroom. Over the next two days I encountered multiple bugs in the room, which raised serious concerns about possible bed bugs. Beyond the cleanliness issues, I had serious concerns for my personal safety due to the staff's behavior, particularly the manager's aggressive and unprofessional conduct. The only reason I remained at this property was that I was on call at the hospital and needed to stay nearby. As someone who stays in hotels constantly and maintains Titanium Elite status, I understand that hotels sometimes have operational issues. However, being accused of damaging a room, screamed at by a manager, and placed in multiple dirty rooms with potential bugs is completely unacceptable.
