During my three-night stay in June, I had a FedEx package that was delayed and would not arrive until after checkout. On June 4, 2026, I personally went to the front desk and instructed them to refuse the package or return it to sender. I then followed up by text at 2:16 PM on June 4 with the tracking number and also sent an email with the same instructions. Nobody responded to the text. Nobody responded to the email. The front desk never told me there would be any problem following my instructions. Despite all of this, the hotel accepted the package at 1:01 PM on June 5, 2026, after I had already checked out. FedEx confirmed delivery. When I contacted the hotel about the package, they couldn't locate it. This became a pattern: management emails went unanswered, the hotel's own text-messaging system went unanswered, and I ultimately had to escalate the matter to IHG by telephone. More than two months later, on August 10, 2026, I finally received a notification--not directly from hotel management, but from a third-party Lost & Found service--saying my Walmart package had been "found." Had the hotel located it promptly, I could have simply provided a Walmart return label and received my refund. That opportunity was lost because of how long the package remained unaccounted for. Now, after all of this, the hotel wants me to use its third-party service to get my package back. The cheapest option is $51.33 for UPS Ground, with expedited options of $118.62 and $128.45. I asked management to simply ship it to me at their expense using ordinary ground shipping. They refused. Management now says the carrier wouldn't allow them to refuse the original delivery. If that was the case, why didn't anyone tell me that when I spoke to the front desk, or respond to my text or email before the package arrived? I could potentially have made other arrangements. Mistakes happen. What earns the one-star review is the lack of communication and accountability afterward. I gave the hotel advance notice through multiple channels, received no response, the package was accepted anyway, it remained unaccounted for for more than two months, and now I'm being asked to pay over $50 to recover it. For a major hotel brand, and particularly for an IHG Diamond Elite member, I expected substantially better communication and customer service.

This hotel feels very new despite some reviews being from a year ago. Everything from the lobby to the guest rooms were spotless and well maintained to us. Check in was easy, the staff were friendly throughout our stay, and the overall experience was smooth from start to finish. Our room was surprisingly spacious and included two queen beds plus a fold-out sofa/futon, giving us plenty of room to spread out after a long day of exploring nearby Congaree. The beds were comfortable, but the real MVP of the room was the shower. The water pressure was absolutely marvelous - a small thing that frequent travelers understand can make a huge difference. Parking did come with a modest $5 fee, which wasn't ideal, but it certainly wasn't enough to detract from the experience. Breakfast the following morning was solid with plenty of options to fuel up before hitting the road. Clean rooms, friendly service, comfortable accommodations, strong shower pressure, and a good breakfast. For a quick overnight stay, I really have no complaints. I'd happily stay here again.

I genuinely have very kind sentiments to the entire team. They are so kind, caring and nice. One of the front desk team members had a pup that went through the same illness as our sweet pup. Our pup adored her and would look for her every time she was at the hotel. Says a lot when a pup goes out of their way to say hi to someone. The woman at the front desk would also ask how our pup was doing when I was staying there and the pup was in the hospital. She was a kind and friendly face every time. While they are other hotels closer to CVETS this is my preferred hotel not just because it is pet friendly but because I found the rooms and space to be clean. The woman who puts out and tidies up the breakfast is very kind a lot of folks just seem to walk by her but I always stopped to say hi and ask how she was doing. She is such a friendly smile and does a brilliant job. When I was there you would never know how many folks had come and gone from eating. She was on top of it and kept everything tidied. Come to think of it I do not recollect a time where anything was out of stock or needed to be replenished. She was there tending to it before any of the items emptied. They had gluten free items available off the top of my head some of Udi's muffins comes to mind. I am not sure what else. Rooms were always clean and tidy. Never did I come across anything less than ideal or not fresh in the room. LOVE their beds similar to mine at home and very comfortable to sleep on. I really liked that the side doors all needed key card access. They also all closed and secured. I was very happy and felt safe because of this feature. If you forget your card, you can always walk around and go through the front. But I liked that the sides were secured and you genuinely had to use your keycard to access. Used my mobile key most of the time and worked perfectly every time. All the air conditioners worked great! Even staying in the hottest part of summer was always perfectly comfortable I liked the layout. Found the rooms quite quiet. It was easy to have DoorDash delivered. I just had then drop it off at my room. However, you can have it left with the front desk as I saw that happen a few times in passing. They do charge for parking but that was made clear to me from the time of booking. Parking lot is clean and nicely lit. Which I appreciated especially when taking a pup out for the last tinkle of the night. There is a pet waste disposal bin and pet waste bags too if you are out of then on your leash. There is a little store in the front. My bills were all accurate and points credited in a timely manner to my Marriott Bonvoy account. (Which I have come to appreciate as that is not the same for every Marriott property.) TL;DR Loved the staff, nice hearty breakfast and clean. Would stay there again, recommended to CVETS for other out of town patients and would to anyone else in the area. Liked their beds and bedding!

But we were bothered twice when we had the privacy sign on the door. We were in Columbia for a week to visit someone not doing so well. The day before our arrival, that person unfortunately passed. We found out on our way in that the funeral service was to be held the day after our checkout. I will say that the front desk staff was very kind and accommodating in giving us the extra day. Overall, the front desk staff was actually amazing. We had one gentleman tell us he missed us every time we came back in from a day out which honestly made our day! If I was rating on staff alone, it'd be a 5/5. Onto the issues however... so, it's no one's fault of course, but our door lock stopped working on our second day. You could push in on the door and it'd just open. We had housekeeping drop towels while we were out so I have no idea how long our room was just open like that. They did have another room across the hall thankfully. My partner's complaint is that we were offered no compensation for having to move. I, however, come from the resort industry & have rarely if ever experienced compensation for moves. So take that however you will haha. The cleanliness of the first room was great! No dust, no signs of anything dirty at all. However the second room was not so great. We had stains on the comforter. Not sure if it was blood, makeup, or spray tan. We asked for new sheets but they only replaced the comforter, so we kinda just threw everything else onto the floor & didn't use it. Then we asked housekeeping for extra rags & towels since we were staying for the week. I was appreciative that they gave us a couple, and that they came by every other day or so to deliver new ones, but honestly I'd have just preferred it if they gave us a stack of them at the beginning. Just personal preference on that one, I suppose. The shower pressure is crazy by the way. I wasn't a fan, but my partner enjoyed the high pressure. It's like the jet setting on a water hose LOL. Okay SO! We booked through a third party. Because of that, we had to stack on the extra day as a separate booking. No biggie whatever. Excepptttt the morning of the extra day rolls around, we're trying to sleep in so we put the privacy tag on the door, and we were bothered twice within like 30 mins by people asking us when we're checking out so apparently there just wasn't any communication between front desk and housekeeping there, even though we had already re-checked in that morning. But divas the parking here..... tell me WHY the lot is full at 3pm on a Tuesday? You already have to pay per day to park, whatever it's downtown I get it, but on top of that you gotta tip the valet to park your car for you if you don't make it back at a good time (and by good time I mean like 1-2 pm if you're lucky) you'll have to valet at that point. All in all, the only thing keeping me from staying there again is the parking situation. The hotel itself is really nice and looks updated, and was mostly clean. The stains on our comforter looked like they'd been washed into the fabric and just went unseen. Housekeeping was nice and friendly, and the front desk staff was super nice and helpful. The TV doesn't quite fit because there aren't any smart functions or anything like that which I found kinda weird.

The lobby itself was well decorated for the Independence Day Holiday, and at check-in they let us know about the restaurant and bar area which would be available for breakfast, dinner or drinks. What we didn't use the bar, the breakfast restaurant was open and airy, with wonderful food and incredibly friendly staff. The room itself was large, with wonderful water pressure and temperature in the shower. The bed was comfortable, and the complimentary Wi-Fi was strong throughout. This was my first visit ever to Columbia, but if I were to return to the city, this is definitely the place where I would stay.

In my king suite, I could sit at the desk, which rolled and could be adjusted to other areas in the room, or at the small sofa or on the bed. + The parking lot is well lit and I felt safe coming and going after dark + The staff is lovely. Truly. They were kind and accommodating throughout my stay. I realized that on my final morning I was going to have to lead a large video call right at checkout. I didn't want to have to try to do this in the lobby and so was so hopeful I could swing late checkout. The desk clerk quickly got it set up with little muss or fuss, which I very much appreciated. Some helpful notes: + There is a metal plate below the shower head (on the floor of the shower). If the shower drips, it sounds a bit like a bell. The best fix for this is to close the bathroom door before you go to bed. Otherwise, you make awaken in the middle of the night wondering for whom the bell tolls. And, why is it tolling in your room? You'll be half asleep and confused. No need for confusion--I have cracked the bell mystery for you in advance. Close the bathroom door and you won't even hear it. Beyond that silly note--a top notch experience here! Get to it!

This Town Place Suites is not kept in the best repair and has bad service…read more The cleaning was just ok because there was a big coffee spill that had not been cleaned up under the coffee maker and the basket of tea/creamer. There were lots of water related issues. The dish washer did not work. The refrigerator leaked and had water standing in it. The water pressure was low in the bathroom sink, and it was also low in the kitchen sink. Their building (possibly the HVAC system) was so loud that it was impossible to sleep. It sounded like a cross between a 16 wheel truck, a huge old rusty fan, and a space ship. There was still a lot of noise when we turned off the air conditioner. I was told that we could change rooms, but we were exhausted. I also doubted how quiet any of the rooms would be. So, I bought earplugs from a pharmacy the next day, but those didn't work. After the second night, I got heavy-duty earplugs made for concerts. Those worked for the noise and I could sleep. But you can't wear them for days in a row if you want to avoid ear aches. The hotel staff promised that the engineer would look into the noise problem. I never saw or heard from an engineer. They did not seem to care to make sure we had pots and pans. We needed them to eat dinner. They had 3 pots that looked like they had survived a war. Non stick surfaces in a peeling pot is not healthy too cook in. I asked about replacements and I was refused. The front desk clerk insisted that they had to be ordered and could not be taken out of an empty room. I was also told to talk to the manager in the morning about ordering pots and pans. There was no thought for the fact that we had to eat dinner that night. We make our own food when we travel and this was a very big inconvenience. We never got pots and pans even though we stayed at the hotel for 4 nights. They also gave us a hard time when we requested a late check out. They told us to call back the next day and that we could only get late check out based on availability. The next day we had to call many times to get the check out. The front desk had many people there. Standing in line was not an option with our busy schedule. So, we were made to work for our late check out. We had many other things to do that day including packing out. The management didn't seem to care to make sure that our stay was comfortable. If they did, they should have made sure that supplying guest replacement pots and pans is not an issue. Every ask was complicated. One day we asked for a chair. Two people should have two chairs in their room so they can eat. I don't know why they were so reluctant to supply an extra chair. They surely didn't seem to care that we are high level Marriott Bonvoy members. I do not recommend this hotel. They don't even try. They think they are doing you a favor by letting you stay there. I will not return.

That said, the customer service provided by Constance (Connie) and Cameron was top tier. They are true professionals and care about their guests. They're a huge asset and we are so grateful to have chosen to stay on base rather than venturing out. I'm not one bit surprised by the excellent living space.
