A bird nesting in a tree outside the hotel

Having driven over 14 hours to arrive at the hotel, I was in a bit of a mood. But that passed within moments of entering the lobby as Amber at the front desk greeted us cheerfully. Her energy just lightened our mood and got us ready for a relaxing evening. In the morning, Dawn passed me in the hall and made sure to ask if my room was alright and if I needed anything. The hotel is clean with well kept rooms. The rooms are a little smaller than your average Hampton Inn, but they're not cramped. You'll still have plenty of room, your suitcase just won't be a mile away. I'll happy add this to my company's list of preferred stays for next time we are in the area.

The Hampton Inn provides clean, quality rooms with excellent service. I could not be more satisfied with my stay and I will be back again. The rooms themselves were huge with large bathrooms and ample room to move around. There was no visible aging inside the building and all of the finishes were quality. Every looked and felt clean. This Hampton Inn offered all the standard amenities. The complimentary continental breakfast was actually the best I've ever experienced from a hotel! They have a make your own waffle bar with tons of toppings, plenty of hot food options and a large selection of pastries. Wifi was fast and reliable.

Check-in went smoothly, we were given complimentary bottled water, the elevator came quickly & our room was readily avaliable. Tru by Hilton Novi has a modern / contemporary vibe, which is displayed throughout the hotel. The Lobby gives warm & inviting "community / hang-out spot" vibes w/ vibrant decor / furniture, mixed-style seating arrangements (ex. couches, stools, swing chairs, etc). & has Foosball Tables as well as a Flat Screen TV - people gathered a bit to watch one of the NBA Championships Games. The Novi, Michigan mini-wall lobby mural is cool. We had a nicely-sized, clean/neat stylish room & bathroom. The shower had great hot water/ water pressure. Thermostat issues - the heat needed to "kick in" once the room temperature dropped to specific levels and this did not occur. Comfortable Bedding = Comfortable Sleep throughout our stay. Most things are self-service. The hotel stay includes complimentary breakfast until 9am, free WiFi, free parking, a Fitness Ctr., etc. I enjoyed using the Fitness Center & the one at this hotel has good ventilation & clean / well-working equipment. Complimentary breakfast included pancakes, sausage, fruit (ex. apples bananas, etc.) Having some healthier & more varied breakfast options would be a good idea. One of my favorite perks at Tru by Hilton Novi is the 24/7 Complimentary Tea / Coffee Station. The ability to get tea anytime was wonderful. @trubyhilton hilton.com

They ended up booking directly through Hilton and getting a less expensive rate here than at neighboring hotels and everything is new. The room was set with a nice 2 queen pair and the mattresses were of medium softness and firmness so the quality was about what I expected. The tv is huge and we watched a few games on it. The lobby is a real highlight as they have free daily breakfast with hot cakes and eggs and different meats. The chairs and couch ions are really neat and design with trend in mind. The gym has 2 high quality treadmills a cross fit station and a peloton bike. It's 24hrs for the gym and lobby which is nice if you have friends becuase of the layout, chairs and the Foose ball table.

When I arrived, my reserved room wasn't available. I was told I'd have to switch rooms the next day. Then I saw the pool--so dirty I wouldn't let my child so much as dip a toe in it. I complained, and they temporarily shut it down "for maintenance," only to reopen it an hour later in the same disgusting state. I asked to be transferred to a different property, but IHG Guest Services said it would take 24-48 business hours to get back to me--Monday being a holiday, that meant Tuesday or Wednesday. My stay ended Wednesday morning. Pointless. Most of the front desk staff were unhelpful and dismissive, with one exception. I opened a Guest Relations case, and only then did the district manager reach out--late Monday night. He offered me 50,000 IHG points "in good faith," and I accepted, trying to make the best of it. I shouldn't have. They say there are "no blackout dates" for rewards nights--but apparently that doesn't apply to suites on Saturdays. Despite over 50 one-bedroom suites showing available for cash bookings, none were offered for points. I had to split my two-night stay in the same hotel, with Sunday night in a proper 1-bedroom suite for 19,000 points, and Saturday night in what they laughably call a "king studio suite" for 32,000 points--just a standard room with a fancy label. No sofa. No separation of space. No way it qualifies as a suite. And because of this, I now have to switch rooms again between Saturday and Sunday. When I asked to keep the same room Sunday, they offered to downgrade me to that same "studio suite"--which, again, is no suite at all. I should've known better than to accept points as a resolution. Lesson learned. Let this be a warning: IHG's "loyalty rewards" are anything but rewarding. I've been a loyal IHG member for over a decade--Diamond Elite at one point. It means nothing. Their fine print gives them the right to change, reinterpret, or ignore terms at will. Their "no blackout date" policy is a marketing loophole--reward nights are limited to such an extent they may as well not exist. I'm done. Keep the points. --Miranda Sharma

The building itself is huge, so parking can be tricky to get close to a door when only one elevator was working. The room itself was very clean, however, the hotel itself is extremely outdated and lots of noise from the highway in fact it's pretty intrusive and affects sleeping. You can also hear people in the hallway. Overall, for one night, it was bearable, but given the other options in the area many are updated and in a similar price range I may pick a different location next time I am in town.

Upon checking in I discovered the refrigerator did not work. I reported it to the front desk. I suspected the clerk was going to ignore it because of her shit attitude. The next day I reported it again and the day after I reported it again. After the third time I said screw it and was unable to save the pizza, salad, and chicken leftovers. On top of that the icemaker was broken. A couple of clerks need to be checked as a result of their disrespect to I believe was a manager who was talking in broken Spanish to a few maids who were leaving for the day. They were making faces behind his back and clowning on him. Very unprofessional for patrons to see this. But they will be excused I'm sure because of who they are. Needless to say I would never go back there. Couldn't wait to leave.

Also, every business hotel these days has a safe in the room. Every one but this place. I didn't expect to have to carry my laptop everywhere, and for these reasons I do not recommend staying here. WiFi also did not work well. I had a lot of trouble working while I was there and had to use my phone's personal hotspot. When I got to my next location, I didn't have any of that trouble. It is the most expensive Hampton Inn I've ever stayed at, and they jack up rates during a conference at the nearby Suburban Collection Showplace (the reason we were there). It's well located with plenty of good restaurants nearby and near the Expo center, but so are half a dozen other places. Normal room rate is about $120. They jack it up to $260 something during a conference, with the special conference block being $219. Taking advantage? Providing proper service for those rates? Nope.

This hotel is obviously newer than most of the other hotels in the area. It was exceptionally clean and modern. The rooms were well-kept and the hotel staff members were friendly and helpful. The check-in process was very easy and they were happy to accommodate my request for an early check-in. The hotel internet actually worked well and there were several modern amenities. I was also fairly impressed by the bar area and the food that was available. The parking lot was very convenient and it was easy to get a spot next to the entry door closest to my room (all the exterior entryways are room-key operated except for the main entrance.) The room had a nice work area with a pull-out desk. I requested an additional work chair and the staff brought it to the room right away. I read a few negative reviews along with several positive ones and I personally found nothing to support the negative ones: either those folks had a bad day or the hotel has corrected the issues since they were written. Clearly, I have stayed at several high-end hotels that were better, but my 5-star rating refers to this being an excellent hotel and definitely superior to most any other at a similar price-point. The next time I'm in the area, I would absolutely stay here again.

Weird stains or spots on the chair, a microwave in a cabinet way below knee level and lots of promises. Yes, went to the front desk several times to get fresh towels. We were aware of the every other day service, but for 3 days nothing. Luckily caught Nora in the hallway and asked if our room was gonna get done on Sunday (we arrived on Thursday!) - she first was shocked we were not on schedule. When we explained the sitch, she immediately jumped on it and took care of us. One employee that meant business. The rest were pretty much always passing the buck. You only can hear "we're sorry" so many times. This is not how Marriott operates! Tried to use the business center to print something. Fuggetaboutit. The printer was asking for a new toner. The front desk said the printer was broken. "Email it to us and we'll print it." No today, not my confidential info. WHo are you kidding? I never saw a manager. I was told that the management would be notified. Yes, for 3 days in a row this was stated by different people. Never happened. The only ones working it seems were the bistro people. And even they had very short hours. Trash cans never emptied. Simple right, Not for them. The place is not Marriott in any way shape of form! I would post pics if Yelp actually worked properly. You could go for a long pass in the room. It's a total waste of space (open area) with very limited storage/dresser drawers too. Weird for sure. In any case, we were told that maintenance was aware of the mold. So why would they even put us in such a room????? Or why if so, did maintenance not take care of it if they were aware. It just seems they don't care and they sure are not of Marriott class!
